You are forgetting to add the extra cost of license and insurance and gear to wear. You are the rare case that will break even in about a year. Most people take 3 or 4 years to break even on the gas paying for the scooter.

This is usually a campaign promise they make to corn farmers to get votes in the Midwest. Whatever else it may be, ethanol in motor fuel is a way of subsidizing corn farming.

Winter fuel blends produce less HP and worse economy than summer blended fuel
Would that affect me? Living in Alabama? I didn’t realize that was a thing in the southern states
