Yeah Wei Ying and Lan Zhan are in love with e/o. The show is based on a novel called Mo Dao Zu Shi by MXTX (aka The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation). In the book WY and LZ end the series happily married. Though censorship around shows in China are much stricter. So they are not EXPLICITLY together in the show. However, much of the romantic subtext is kept in tact. And they leave certain overt romantic markers in (just don't reach the markers conclusion as we did in the book bc censors). An example would be the song that is played through much of the show by WY and LZ. The song is a love song that LZ wrote for WY and the name is their ship name 'Wangxian'. It is explicitly romantic. In the show they use the song much like they do in the book, except that when WY asks LZ what the song is called LZ says he will tell him the next time they meet. Which implies that he will admit his true feelings when they meet again. And the show ends when LZ calls out to WY on their next meeting. So for ppl who have read the novel this is as good as a confirmation that they end up together in the show universe too canonically (w/o alerting censors which is pretty impressive imo).
@Leah Bless I thought about that but tbh most ppl who watch the show w/o reading the book don't understand the ending and sometimes don't realize there was a time skip at all (and I know this bc I read the book after I watched it and watched it with several family members). I consider this to be a minor spoiler on the same level as saying they end up together in the book. Some of the details about 'wangxian (song vers) are some what more spoiler-esque. However, I think spoilers are things that ruin the viewing/reading experience and knowing these specific details don't ruin the exp imo. If you want to watch a gay romance than this will only add to the experience. It's not like I told him about any big twists or important plot lines. Besides he said it was okay to say spoilers bc he will forget anyway.

I watched the Untamed specifically bc I knew about the gay romance. And for romances, gay ones especially, knowing there is a happy ending is part of the appeal. And, apart from the romance, the main plot appeal for MDZS is uncovering mysteries and backstories. Much of the show is in flashbacks. It doesn't necessarily ruin the appeal of the show to say these specific characters have a happy ending bc that isn't the main drive of the plot.
If you watch it and record your reaction or give your thoughts on it, I would definitely come back and watch it. This series is so freakin amazing and I highly recommend you watching it. 😊 Also note that this is a Xianxia drama, which is a chinese, fantasy, martial art drama where characters undergo training or cultuvation/meditation to become "immortal heroes". This does take place in a historical time period as you'll notice the sets and costume (very beautiful too😍🥰). And the chemistry and acting is spectacular and beautiful songs.
The drama is based an a really popular BL novel which has been adapted in a bunch of different forms. Outside of the novel itself my favorite adaptation is the donghua (Chinese animation) though the drama is also really wonderful I just really love the donghua (personal preference. Maybe because I watched the first season before reading the novel and it was my first exposure to the series? IDK). I definitely recommend the donghua to people who love the drama and haven't watched it yet. And vice versa recommend the drama to those who've watched the donghua. The creator of the series also has two other novels and both have donghua, though only one has been greenlit for a drama and that's Heaven Official's Blessing (it hasn't been released yet though).

So basically without any major spoilers...wei wuxian dies at the beginning where he falls down that cliff but you obviously dont know why and why is he perceived as evil and what relationships does he have with people around him and what even happened to get to that place. and then its 16 years later and suddenly hes back alive cause some dude who tries to get revenge on his own family summons wei wuxian who is seen to be like this evil spirit to take over his body (even tho he still looks like himself in the show) to kill that guys family, and then wuxian meets all his all friends and family and all that again while staying in secret for a while. literally episodes 1 and half of 2 i believe are full of spoilers for half the series but you're unaware cause you dont know any character names or faces and all that so you're just left wondering, and those are big spoilers cause half the series so like good 30 episodes are like a giant flashback to when wei wuxian first met lang wangji, and their story together along with wei's family and everyone being happy and you just wonder what happened to them, and if all that happened in that first death scene of his in the show is even true and is that what really happened and so ye much more to that than my mini description but after you pass all the confusion its freaking great. i literally made all my friends watch it and they loved it. that was a long comment soz, i hope you watch more edits of this or even the show itself one day.
love the untamed reactions. i do hope one day you can react to this show, the cgi is pretty crappy and i think thats what has put a few people off it but the plot, acting, chemistry etc make up for it imo and once you get into it you seem to forget about the cgi (well i did lmao) but yeah it quickly became my favourite show and i wish more people reacted to it

It's a good show. When watching it, you barely notice how fast you are going through those 50 eps. A lot of other drama's though, you start wishing they'd end it by episode 15 or 20. Depending on how annoying it gets. xD

I loved watching the untamed, after seeing comments about the two actors having love for each other it really upset me cause I don't care about their personal life outside, seeing post of both of them romantically involved with each other was so wrong putting out there, so after seeing on one post that the drama was about two men's friendship throughout the drama was supposed to be in love with each other, it was clarified that China disapprove of part's thawas in the movie so it was taken out because of there tradition which is understandable and I appreciate it cause the movie is fantastic and shows these two actors are regular humans, I got nothing agency who or what people do in their lives I got lots of gay friends and respect them for who they are but youtube needs not to have stuff like that on because it doesn't look Wright and it upset people when putting stuff out there that's wrong do yourself favor just put the truth out after a year I'm finding out the real story about this drama

Fully cannot WAIT for you to watch the series! It is about 50-51 episodes, but so worth it! Yeah, the guy with the black veins is named Wen Ning aka the Ghost General. They didn’t kill him exactly as much as shred his energy. Wei Ying, the one the video focuses on, was able to bring back his consciousness and allow his to be able to think for himself instead of becoming a puppet. And yes, this couple was the one you mentioned was in love but didn’t say it lol

Watch it because is an amazing show, the cast, the acting, costume design, script, directing. A+ Also, you could watch it if only to say f.u. to the censorship in China
the thing about this show is there is so much symbolism and so much artistic value in the storytelling through obvious dialogue, action, cinematography but also through the music and costumes, and how every scene (because a lot of it feels maybe not that important or relevant or like filler at first) has so much value that you find some new important detail on every rewatch that at first feels unimportant or doesn't make sense immediately. the storytelling and character design is so beautifully complex and intricately done even for the side characters that the full experience is incomplete without a rewatch imo. or atleast without like going back mentally to previous scenes after finishing the series and realizing the "why's" and the "how's". some things that are unsaid in the series but are known to the book-readers, i'm sure they'll tell you as you're watching it. but the full experience is just so worth it. ntm there's social commentary as well if you're looking for it
