Don’t listen to those who bad-mouth you or your situation. It looks a lovely place and you are certainly enjoying all of its advantages and concentrating on the positives, which all of us need to do, wherever we live. Your garden is amazing!
It looks lovely. The front of the van is beautiful. I can absolutely understand when you say you want peace and quiet. When we moved to our van I spent hours just walking round the countryside with my dogs, I still do. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to check that I am not dreaming. I would never go back to the city. Enjoy your new life together and ignore the negative comments. Life is too short. I count my blessings every day.
I lived near London and was recently made homeless and I am sleeping on a friends sofa I'm 57 years old and this is what I have been looking at to do since February this year so thank you for telling us through your videos as what is possible and can be achieved because the local council will not help at all and I can do this as a way out of my situation. You both are lovely people and deserve all the happiness that comes your way.🍀🌽🌺🌾🌻
John 11.25-26 Jesus said unto her I AM the resurrection and the life he that believes in me though he were dead yet shall he live and whosoever lives and belives in me shall never die believest thou this Amen
We had a static on a holiday park and every time we had to leave I always said to the Mrs I could happily sell up and live in the van but she kept dragging me home lol,now have a tourer on the site we had the static and again would happily live in it
My mum in law had a static at Bassenthwaite wooden clad and we loved it. I used to say to my husband I would love to live there when we retired. No clutter and just what we needed. Take no notice of naysayers - they are jealous! That’s what my gran would say to me when people were mean 😂😂
I can't understand some of the negative comments. I used to regularly stay in a relative's van down in Devon and it was really lovely. It had central heating, so no problem with keeping warm in cooler times. It looks great where you are and your whole setup is perfect. You have found your happy place and that's all that matters in life.
Hi there, just a quick one regarding keeping the heat in the van. When I lived in one what I did was buy some 70mm polystyrene or Celotex and I insulted under the the floor joist by crawling under the van and wedged them in and this was an absolute game changer to keeping the wind out and the heat in, It’s not the easiest job but I promise it will be worth it.Also I lived in one for years and absolutely loved it and you will find you get used to winter and it will be fine. Enjoy the adventure👍
After working in a drop forge as a stamper for most of my working life, i wanted a bit of peace and quiet, i found a beautiful site near Worcester, not far from the river Severn, with beautiful countryside all around me, i have only been in my caravan for 3 months and all my family have said how well and healthy i look already, i think people who knock you are just jealous, i have never been happier or more relaxed in all my life, looking forward to following more of your video's.
I think that you and your wife made a good choice when you were told to leave your house. I also have a static, which is based in Skegness. If ever I lost my home for whatever reason, that's where I shall be heading to ensure I have a roof over my head. I love what you have done to your van to make it home from home. I enjoy watching your videos, keep them coming. Regards, Ann.
you live your life the way you want to live it my friend. its your life for that reason. i envy your freedom from bills and fresh air and good walks on your doorstep
I don't know why people are so negative. OK it might not be their thing but I have to say I would prefer to live where you are than in a high rise council flat where some of the Neighbours might be feral. The entire site looks well cared for with like minded people. You have a lovely set up for your veggies and flowering plants and the whole place looks so neat, tidy and peaceful. To each their own.
It's better to have a paid for roof over your head than have nothing over your head. You seem to be a sociable couple so I can see you flourishing in the site atmosphere - in the summer time at least.
I bet you and Ginny don’t miss for one moment all that noise and pollution from that main road where you both previously lived Ivan. And you both have settled into your new home and have given yourselves better financial security and you and Ginny have made it your own and made it homely and lovely ❤.
Hi Ivan. What an absolutely charming video that was.👌❤ The peace and quiet and countryside walks is what I love too. And the live music event is also my cup of tea. Ivan, I obviously only 'know' you from your videos, but to me you radiate contentment;🙏you come over far happier now than you did in the rented house. I think you made an excellent lifestyle choice. And things seem to have worked out better for Ginny too. So happy for you Ivan.❤❤❤
Alright for a holiday in summer time but in winter time to cold it wouldn't be me stopping all year around in a static caravan stopped in one before this was in Scotland it was freezing mind you I only stopped in it one night but if it's for you it's your choice all the best
I think you solved a rental problem in a really clever and innovative way and it suggests that your future will also be thought out creatively as well.Your home seems wonderful to me,clean, warm and comfortable.Well done for smart thinking.
You've got the caravan absolutely lovely I would 100 percent live in one and your veg is spot on .hope you have many more happy years there it's lovely 😊
You have done a great job of producing all that food and flowers whilst making the display look clean, tidy and appetising! Well done mate and as you say your lifestyle is not for everyone but it suits you and good on you for keeping your heads above water during very trying times.
Hi mate, being a caravan owner myself I 100% get you, can’t wait to enjoy full use when I retire, ignore the negativity your doing great, & sounds like a good site.
My dad use to drive his tractor to the local pub. Sometimes horse and cart. I love the countryside. I have lived in a static three times. One of those was a holiday site. I like statics. Im in a house now but the simplicity of a static is very appealing and I certainly wouldn't rule it out in the future. 😊
It looks fantastic what you’ve done growing your own produce.. and I totally agree regarding the peace and quiet as you get older . I live on a canal boat and have done for 24 years but I’m 72 now and I’m getting a bit weary constantly moving the boat through locks, I’d love a set up like yours and being single it wouldn’t need to be very big… ignore the negative comments this is about “ your life” …
I’ve been dreaming of living in a caravan for a very long time. I will get there one day. I don’t want to be surrounded by these 4 walls that I’m in for the rest of my life. You’re so lucky and I wish you and your wife much happiness. The garden is beautiful x
Friends of mine own a caravan on a very small site of just 300 and they love it. i just feel that you have to do what is best for you and your family. I really enjoy watching your videos you are always balanced and informative. People who feel the need to write nasty comments say a lot more about them than you. Good luck.
Ahh I’m so sorry you’ve had negative comments Ivan. I would ignore them. You are living your best life & have done incredibly well. I was born craving peace & quiet & still do now aged 60, crowds & noise are definitely not for me. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing because it looks amazing. I have learned so much from your other channel, best teacher on YT for sure. Annie🏴
There will always be negativity no matter what the subject, etc. I commend anyone that can live within their budget, have inner peace in Day to day life and appreciate the experience. Sharing life's simple pleasures can always be a blessing.....contentment comes from within and there are many that never find it and that is sad. We were designed to be grateful people and finding ways to share our blessings with others.....whether its knowledge or just good company its part of "blossomIng where you're planted". It really is our choice and how important is community is an inner choice as well. Always looking forward to your videos as a good neighbor sharing life. 👍👍 🇺🇸
It looks like you’ve landed on your feet I feel envious and the display of all your veg and fruit flowers looks marvellous ,happy days I’m so glad your enjoying life, thanks for all your info on gardening xxxx
It sound like you made a good choice in a bad situation. Good luck to both of you. And I hope you continue to find happiness and peace where you are at.
❤We love our park home too Ivan, it's a lovely community life, and as like your situation, it's another option when looking for a home (but we don't get the lovely tractor parade! Im jealous!)
The bad rep and negativity towards them is often deserved. My late mother moved to a privately owned well-kept site in Wales and everything was great for 10 years - couldn't have been happier, but then one of the national caravan park companies set their eyes on it and put in an offer to buy it which was accepted and it all went rapidly downhill from there. They put the site fees up massively and contracted out the site maintenance and groundkeeping to a national company and they did the absolute bare minimum which was an awful job. They also changed the rules and fees for buying and selling which for sellers basically meant you had no choice but to sell to them for pocket change as their fees for sellng off-site were the same, once you added in their cut, the disconnection fee, the change-over fee, transport fee etc I say all this because this can happen to ANY static caravan owner on ANY site at ANY time with very little notice. Just because you've got a decent site owner RIGHT NOW who doesn't charge much and doesn't care what you do so long as you keep your pitch and van presentable, doesn't mean it will stay that way. This is usually where the owners get burnt (as in my mother's case) and then your idyllic life gets turned upside down and you've got a nightmare on your hands with a lot of stress and worry. People get too complacent and think that the 300 lines in the contract that basically amount to "as the site owner, we can do what we want, whenever we want and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it" will never be enacted. I'm not against them as a whole as there are some real 'gem' sites and owners out there, but you don't generally see these advertised and need to have connections to find out about them. A friend of mine moved to a private farmer-owned site up past Newcastle 7 years ago, middle of nowhere. I go to see him a couple of times a year in my tourer. It's a 12 month holiday site but the farmer doesn't care and he [my friend] lives there full time. In those 7 years the rent only went up once, and that was just for £30 ! It's only £1750 a year and that includes water. I said to him before he moved it'd all end in tears and he'd be coming back with his tail between his legs, bankrupt and wanting to doss on my sofa, but I couldn't have been more wrong! Farmer doesn't care what you do to your van or plot so long as it's kept presentable. His biggest 'life' issue is the 80 year old bloke in the adjacent van having his TV on too loud. He only paud 12 grand for the van 7 years ago and looking at ebay they're still listing for that and more even now, so even after factoring in the 10% cut to the site owner if he decided to sell, he's still had very cheap living vs a house or flat rent. I can see the attraction but they are not for the naive or gullible. You have to fully understand what you are getting into by reading the contract umpteen times before parting with any cash.
Good videos, If I were the owner of that site I would get one of those Farmers to plough up a nice little spot with room permitting to put a polly tunnel up as well to the side of it and put you in charge of it to grow what you think would thrive, in the four seasons, it would supply the restaurant and maybe sell some of it to other people on the site for a little fee. 👍🏴
Your site sounds great Ivan. We live in a 60sq mt cottage in a lifestyle village, near the sea, and love it. We have great village owners and very few restrictions. We too container garden and really enjoy it - and the challenges! We enjoy your channel Ivan as gives us inspiration every time. We also have lovely quiet country and beach walks close by. Our small local village has all we need. (NZ) 🌻
Everyone has to do what is right for them, and change is scary for a lot of people. People are used to dealing with the problems of living in a brick and mortar home. But those have always come with their own problems (rising damp? subsidence? not things people in a caravan need to worry about! Well, not if you have to have a new caravan for the sight and you take proper care.)
I'm so suprised you are getting negative comments. You are making the best of your situation. Some people are so insensitive and cruel. I would rather live like you than in a big built up area with noise and pollution and difficult neighbours. Good luck to you both I say.
We have done what you have but with a lodge with central heating. But, as you say it was more important for us to find the right site, which we have. Best move we ever made for all the same reasons as you! Cheers 🍻
It's amazing what you have done in such a short space of time. You have such a positive attitude and you got stuck in with the 'hand you were dealt with' and it's all working out. My closest friend & her husband bought an old 2 bed broken down caravan and did it up completely, taking their time and making it so comfortable. They found a lady who lived in countryside & was willing to let them rent a space in their field and had it there for several years. They sold the caravan at a profit and bought a 6 berth and again did it up. They had enough money to buy a second caravan for their children to use. They were in their 70's when they bought their first caravan. Anything is possible if have the right attitude.
Lots of people in London would love the space that you have, for the price you have paid. 3k a month for a shoebox, or a caravan, I know which I'd pick.
I think you both are doing the right thing. Its nice to live in a place where you are happy. Ok,it may not suit everyone, but it suits you and that is what matters. So ignore the negative comments and live your lives how you like to live it. Good Luck and all the best.
Me too Ivan, next doors had boys so you can imagine what crap we had to put up with, they've all left now so we only see them when they come & visit their parents. I love to be quiet & just spend time in the garden. I can't fault ya both for doing what ya doing, if you're both ok with it that's all that Matters...
It looks like it suits you to a tee. Keep loving it and don't worry about the adverse comments most are put on by people who have nothing better to do. You see it on many You Tube sites.
Hello Ivan, I have found your journey living in a caravan fascinating. My partner and I stay in a static caravan for our holidays several times in the year so I can relate to what you're talking about. I enjoy our time in the caravan but the only issue I have is being overweight the space in the bedroom is challenging and by the end of the week I'm longing for the extra space at home. I would love the piece and quiet, I would enjoy the countryside on my doorstep where it would be far nicer to do a walk rather than round the local roads of my area. Thanks for sharing your vlogs.
Thanks Ivan, it's a lovely set up that you have mate and in a beautiful part of the country. The site and the people that run it seem to be ideal, so what's to dislike? Take care and all the best. Stevie
Looks like you are enjoying life - ignore the negative folk! We have a van overlooking a lake which is ideal as my husband is a fisherman, it is quite rural and isolated in the winter but we are fortunate to also own (inherited) residential specification van on a commercial site with shops restaurant etc and we go there in winter when it is less busy with holidaymakers! I will be very interested to see your experience during the colder months in case we ever try it but I have to admit I would be terrified to be snowed in on our lake site - I think a very big freezer would be called for!
Coming up to 12 Months in our new 'Lodge'....cannot be faulted. "We" also reside on a Private Site in South Lincolnshire, complete with surrounding Livestock so not entirely quiet, but most enjoyable. NO Clubhouse here but just a short walk away, across OPEN FIELDS, we can enjoy our local Hostelries...Enjoy every second...G&D.
I dohope those farmer's hadn't been drinking whilst having their dinner at the pub. The idea of them driving on a public road after drinking, in those huge machines really worries me.! I Agree that living in the coutry is a beautiful experience. I am fortunate to live in a semi rural area, a mile out of town but completely surrounded by fields. So glad yu have found a serene and beautiful way of living. Bet you wish you had done it years ago!
Hello I love your videos and I think it all sounds perfect x ignore any trolls or haters - you do your thing and let them do theirs - thank you for the videos and all your info - keep them coming! I look forward to seeing how the winter is and I hope you’ll be warm and snuggly!
You are lucky we live in a static in the country and the squirrels Eat everything we plant if they dont ghe rabbits do or the monk jack deer!!!!! Thats the price we pay i suppose we do have tomatos in a little greenhouse.
That sounds a bit like a farmers support group. I remember reading how they were trying to get more farmers talking as there is a huge amount of depression and suicide among farmers.
You could pay £350.000 for a house...be on a main road, have noisy neighbours, screaming children etc., nothing like peace and quiet and the beauty of nature....you can always find your noise...but very rarely your peace and quiet.
Peace & quiet and mental wellbeing is priceless- enjoy every minute and cross each bridge as you come to it …..
Thats the plan Thank you Shirley

Good videos, If I were the owner of that site I would get one of those Farmers to plough up a nice little spot with room permitting to put a polly tunnel up as well to the side of it and put you in charge of it to grow what you think would thrive, in the four seasons, it would supply the restaurant and maybe sell some of it to other people on the site for a little fee. 👍🏴
Sounds like a great plan Thank you
Good for you and your wife as long as you are happy that's all that matters ❤
Very true Thank you
Your site sounds great Ivan. (NZ) 🌻
Sounds ideal Thank you Marie
Everyone has to do what is right for them, and change is scary for a lot of people. People are used to dealing with the problems of living in a brick and mortar home. But those have always come with their own problems (rising damp? subsidence? not things people in a caravan need to worry about! Well, not if you have to have a new caravan for the sight and you take proper care.)
I'm so suprised you are getting negative comments. You are making the best of your situation. Some people are so insensitive and cruel. I would rather live like you than in a big built up area with noise and pollution and difficult neighbours. Good luck to you both I say.
Thank you Jill much appreciated

There are a lot of envious folk@
I’d live there !
Thank you
as long as your happy mate , never mind the others
So true Thank you Lee
We have done what you have but with a lodge with central heating. But, as you say it was more important for us to find the right site, which we have. Best move we ever made for all the same reasons as you! Cheers 🍻
I would do it in a heartbeat..
I'd be right besides you, my friend. Im a country bumpkin born and bred. . 👍
Great stuff Thank you
I love your lifestyle Ivan just have to convince the Wife ie Boss take care 🎉😊❤
Thanks so much
It's amazing what you have done in such a short space of time.
Thats great Thank you Katie
Lots of people in London would love the space that you have, for the price you have paid. 3k a month for a shoebox, or a caravan, I know which I'd pick.
Thank you
Very nice set up and great gsrden too. Where in the UK are you? Looks like it's out towards the East Coast Skegness or mablethorpe area
I think you both are doing the right thing. Its nice to live in a place where you are happy.
Ok,it may not suit everyone, but it suits you and that is what matters. So ignore the negative comments and live your lives how you like to live it. Good Luck and all the best.
Thank you Leigh much appreciated
Good on you and glad it suits you. Towns and cities aren’t for everyone…. Horses for courses. Enjoy.
Very true Thank you
Your garden is a credit to you. Love your plants videos
Thank you Olive much appreciated
Wow! Amazing that you've been allowed to do that gardening! Take no notice of nay sayers! Enjoy xx
Thank you
Me too Ivan, next doors had boys so you can imagine what crap we had to put up with, they've all left now so we only see them when they come & visit their parents. I love to be quiet & just spend time in the garden. I can't fault ya both for doing what ya doing, if you're both ok with it that's all that Matters...
Thank you Carol
It looks like it suits you to a tee. Keep loving it and don't worry about the adverse comments most are put on by people who have nothing better to do. You see it on many You Tube sites.
Thank you James much appreciated
Good for you it looks lovely
You are doing great no wonder some don't like it good on you both when we did have a van it was in the country side too lovey 😊
Thank you much appreciated
That's brilliant Ivan nice to see you Happy and settled ❤
Thank you Ian
Hello Ivan, I have found your journey living in a caravan fascinating. My partner and I stay in a static caravan for our holidays several times in the year so I can relate to what you're talking about. I enjoy our time in the caravan but the only issue I have is being overweight the space in the bedroom is challenging and by the end of the week I'm longing for the extra space at home. I would love the piece and quiet, I would enjoy the countryside on my doorstep where it would be far nicer to do a walk rather than round the local roads of my area. Thanks for sharing your vlogs.
Thank you too Claire
Thank you Sue much appreciated
Coming up to 12 Months in our new 'Lodge'....cannot be faulted. "We" also reside on a Private Site in South Lincolnshire, complete with surrounding Livestock so not entirely quiet, but most enjoyable. NO Clubhouse here but just a short walk away, across OPEN FIELDS, we can enjoy our local Hostelries...Enjoy every second...G&D.
Sounds great Thank you Graham
wish i could do it cheers for the videos
Thank you too
Sounds like your site owners are reasonable people many aren't
They really are Thank you
I dohope those farmer's hadn't been drinking whilst having their dinner at the pub.
Just a few pies Thank you
WHATS SO BAD ITS COOL I LOVE IT GOOD ON YA I WOULD LOVE A NARROW BOAT TO LIVE ON BUT I CAN DREAM CANT I YOU HAVE IT MADE I CAN SEE THE JOY IN IT
Hello I love your videos and I think it all sounds perfect x ignore any trolls or haters - you do your thing and let them do theirs - thank you for the videos and all your info - keep them coming! I look forward to seeing how the winter is and I hope you’ll be warm and snuggly!
Well done mate, looks lovely. I'm trying to talk my wife into it, but she's a bit worried about the legalities of it all...
Then go through everything you can think of before you decide
Thank you
Great stuff, all power to you both, it looks a great relaxing lifestyle.🙂🙂
We live in a caravan on residential site brilliant

Thank you was expecting the same but so far so good
One of my family members lives in a static caravan
Hope all is going well Thank you
That sounds a bit like a farmers support group. I remember reading how they were trying to get more farmers talking as there is a huge amount of depression and suicide among farmers.
Thank you Helen
I do like a caravan. I'm unsure if I could live in one. But if like a more outdoor life, so it could work.
Thank you
Where to find a nice site and how much does it all cost ?
It varies from site to site so best to search and call
Thank you Carol
You could pay £350.000 for a house...be on a main road, have noisy neighbours, screaming children etc., nothing like peace and quiet and the beauty of nature....you can always find your noise...but very rarely your peace and quiet.
Very true Thank you
Heaven
Thank you Angela
My friend had a static caravan had to drive ten miles each way ro work because these sites are nice but usually a bit our the way
