    If you haven't filed in 20 years keep doing what you are doing.

    • @LoganAllec

      That is one strategy. Although I will say that the IRS now has more funding than they have in over 20 years...

      Over 80 million people don't file anymore. A worthy fight if you ask me.

      Keep not filing, they are criminals and at this point its taxation without representation and the govt is breaking the law. Dont pay criminals until this country is fixed

    Loved this. Started watching you during the pandemic. Love the guidance you give. What states are you licensed in?

      Hi! I'm licensed in California, but I can practice in all 50 states! We also have staff on the East Coast.

    Hasn't filed in 20 years?...how about the state ? CA? Filing and paying the IRS is half the battle and the other half in the state, unless it's one of the tax free states like FL or TX. This person needs to win the lottery.

  • @microweener

    Just a ranom fyi to help you who havent filed and are freaking out... If you are a w-2 employee where taxes are withheld you wont get in trouble at all. However you essentially forfeit whatever return you may have gotten.

    • @microweener

      So I mean you're still kinda paying but it feels less shitty 😂

  • @stphinkle

    If an SFR is filed, can you just write a check or make an online payment for whatever the IRS says is due and call it a deal if someone doesn't want to take the time to prepare a new return? Are there any major downsides of doing this other than a potentially higher rate?

    • @LoganAllec

      Yes, you can do this. The only downside is that because an original return was never filed, the three-year assessment statute never started running, so theoretically the IRS could go back to that year in the future and assess additional tax for that year (I've never seen it do this, but it is theoretically possible). There may also be implications for whether the tax debt for the year qualifies to be discharged in bankruptcy, but that's obviously neither here nor there if the taxpayer simply pays off the debt based on the SFR assessment.

  • @AngelaP-ei7xd

    I file every year, I owe $1700 from last year and $3700 this year 🤦🏻‍♀️ What should I do? I’m scared, I’ve sent them payments of $200 but I don’t have a payment plan! I’m extremely scared to call them😢

    • @LoganAllec

      Do you have an IRS account? Since you owe $50,000 or less, you can easily set up your own payment plan with them at this link: irs.gov/opa
      In fact, the IRS guarantees that they will offer payment plans to those who owe $10,000 or less (video on this forthcoming)!

    • @feslife101

      The IRS will work with you. They're not big spooky monsters 😅 lol jk but its better to call and get setup on repayment plan than to ignore. Good luck! P.S. they are pretty reasonable with their payment plans

      The irs online account now has a “tax compliance report” that can give guidance on whether or not they see a need to file or not for a tax year.
