Perry has more time under Night Vision than most. That's why we asked him to help with this. Cody and I both have a lot of missions under our belt with NV from our time in the Marines and Ranger Battalion, but Perry has us both beat by a lot. He's also a phenomenal teacher.
I love how he starts it simple, without any live fire drills. Demonstrates how important alignment of your laser is, and centres the focus on distance assessment. Will lead to good reflex.
After running around at night a fair bit with my pvs14 I'll add that retention is really nice not only because its gonna keep your unit attached but its also gonna take the slack out of system. Just a little bit of tension keeps everything in place really nicely. (kinda baffles me that theres slop at all when each one of these little mounting pieces costs several hundred dollars XD)
Might want to mention too when storing your NOD's not to leave the battery inside, for a couple of reasons, if not being used for a while the batteries can leak and also if someone else happened to pick them up and turn them on they can't damage them to sunlight if the battery is not installed. Also when you mentioned about getting them for the first time and checking them for blems, this should be done with the daylight caps installed or at night in a darkened room as even auto gated tubes can still be damaged by strong lighting especially the higher gain tubes.

Dudes running adjustable diopters like a 1531: the saying for focusing is ‘outer, inner, outer’. Adjust the outer (objective) to get the image as sharp as you can at the desired distance. Then do the inner (diopter). Then finally just tweak the outer. That’s how we were trained to do the AN/AVS-9s, and it works great on the adjustable diopter ground goggles as well. Gives you the sharpest image with the least eye strain.
Funny thing is, yes, duals are awesome. Even single PVS14s have the same issue. You're not aiming down the sights! A designator is incredibly important for single/dual. Add that to your budget for NVGs. You MUST have a laser designator.

Yeah, Wilcox makes great stuff but not everyone Civilian Warrior has $ for it all. Just a thought. I’m about 100 miles from Sweetwater & wouldn’t mind visiting your place. Do y’all have a brick & mortar or just doing web sales? I’ve just seen your bldg from a distance in passing.

Come back to us when you can reload perfectly while unable to see your rifle. They are unable to see their rifles because the objective lens of their tubes are pointed forward, not down. If you haven't practiced reloading in the dark or with your eyes closed you have no room to talk shit, you keyboard warrior.
It looked to me like he was using his index finger to guide the mag into the well, I think unless you sit there in the dark with your eyes closed and practise changing mags without looking then you won't get it right first time, all the time, so it's certainly something to consider to practise doing, if you want to become proficient at shooting at night and have quick and perfect mag changes.

I doubt that if I'm having 155mm and 25mm tearing my city apart, and people are repainting the streets red, I'm not going to be concerned with where my gear came from, just that it's the best gear I can have. Other tutorials recommend taking the eye cups off to increase peripheral vision and acquiring 'the sights of your secondary weapon.

Hey, a mono today is better than a dual tube in 3 years. You can always get a bridge later and upgrade it to a dual tube system!
