Love the Goo Goo Dolls. Saw them at Rock Fest in Wisconsin a few years ago. John Rzeznik was hilarious. He came on and said "I know what you're all thinking. Why are the Goo Goo Golls at Rock Fest? Well, it's cuz we have more songs than you hear on the radio." Then proceeds to play his hits from the radio. 😂 I didn't hear a bad word about them being there. In fact it was quite the opposite. 🥰

This song is a far cry from the punk music upon which they built their career - my babysitter introduced me to them... anyone remember "Numb"? But I still have lots of love for my hometown boyz from Buffalo. They've been great promoters & supporters of local music & festivals - never forgetting their roots. But Johnny, please lay off the Botox - you don't need it man, just let yourself grow old. ✌
Most tv shows just have crummy mixing, but honestly, it just seems like how the music was written. The guitars are mainly just adding in to what the keyboardist is doing. The guy in the back was also doing some of early guitar effect parts that preceded the chorus. The other guitar was Rzeznik’s, and he was basically just playing along with the keyboardist, so I can see why it’s easy to not even notice it.
All time favourite band. Such an amazing band. Goos has some really amazing songs. Great, deep lyrics.. Still here making better music than 90% than all the shit we hear today.
hahaha!! I always listen to Colbert at 1.5x speed to save myself time. And so this song autoplayed at 1.5 and I was like "hey not too bad, goo goo dolls!" Then I played it at regular speed and oh man... quite a droning tune. Too slow to be so repetitive. I think 1.25x would actually be perfect.
@@thedondeluxe6941 Ah so I was right. I wonder if it is tuned a whole octave low, or is being tuned like a baritone guitar, usually 28"scale, tuned a fifth below.
@@gordonanderson3111 Looks like he's playing the same thing as the bass player most of the time, so I think it's tuned an octave below. I have one myself, it's a very unique sounding instrument. The Cure are famous for using it quite a lot!

Saw them in concert a couple weeks back. The song sounds MUCH live better than this performance. Didn’t have back up singers (which I think they didn’t improve the song during this performance).
I like the Goo Goo Dolls but this song is just OK. It feels kind of like formulaic pop. IDK, there's just something missing to really make it great IMO.
How much do you want to bet that the men who make rude comments about John's looks couldn't get a women to look at them twice if their lives depended on it.
@Dec Mar well, I did go there. I'm sick of all the nasty comments about John. Some people should look at themselves before making fun of someone else. Even if those people ARE good looking, they must be ugly on the inside to say those things
who dressed John? the shirt with 4 buttons undone is trying too hard. I know that wasnt his idea..... he sounded great... I still dislike the song. oh well. highs and lows like the man says lol
LOVE Goo Goo Dolls but I'm not feeling this at all....I really tried. Their latest song "Indestructible" is WAY better! Check tune out if you have not!
I love the Goo Goo Dolls but it's hard to witness Johnny trying to artificially look, dress and sound like he's 25 years old again. They should believe in themselves and not resort to this. Such a shame.
Guys in their 50's, known for great alternative rock songs from the 90's, just shouldn't be playing pop written for modern day teens. This is just bad. And a little sad.
Could Be Comics Thry aren’t writing songs for modern day teens. They are at a stage in their career where they write whatever comes to them. If it’s pop sounding, so be it. If they dropped some hard core indie tracks, that’d be dope as well. They can do what ever they want at this point and John is an amazing song writer so whatever they choose to do moving forward, I’m excited for.

Sorry to say...A predictable pedestrian melody that I have heard a thousand times, predictable chord changes. I would have loved to have been a bit surprised by where the melody goes. Greats like Nik Kershaw, Todd Rundgren, Brian Wilson, Radiohead, Muse, Soundgarden, Steely Dan, knew how to titillate the ears and heart with melodies that were not predictable.
