    FYI I did watch a video about the sand filters and heard them say that many people make the mistake of covering their filter pumps. They claimed that it would cause the motor to overheat and eventually ruin the pump. They claim the pump is designed for the outdoors

    • @gggarageVW69
      @gggarageVW69  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ive not experienced any pump issues on any just the sensor plate for the salt system that generates chlorine. They are junk. This year I gave up and started using chlorine tabs and a floater. The storage box I’m using is very large and keeps the sun off the system no different than most in ground pools have.

    Thank you. They make a little hand held electronic device that will test the salt level. So far so good with my intex 12 x 24.
    Mine is on concrete in a screened cage, so likely less debris to remove.
    Single pump .75 / 1.5hp switchable. In addition to normal pickups & airator , have skimmer & water feature.
    Getting enough circulation to keep green from growing in corners even with chemicals correct has been biggest issue.

    That was the best tutorial that I've seen yet about that in text size pool. Well done my man well done I've never bought a pool before but that pool I bought last week and I was curious on several things. The skimmer was one I didn't want to cut the pool. And the other thing was could I use the spare pump that spare pump that came with it because I did upgrade pumps when I bought it use it for the vacuum. Thanks a lot well done my man well done😊

    Wow so glad that you took the time to make this video and answer questions. I also have two pumps and plan to do the exact same thing that you did but I have a question.
    How do you connect the second pump and filter to the pool? I see you have the tube going over the side but can you explain how you did it? I plan to cut additional inlet/outlets for the 2nd pump for the vacuum but need to know how many openings I need?

    • @gggarageVW69
      @gggarageVW69  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easy, I didn’t cut my pool. I had the hoses from the kit and simply have the suction hose in one corner with some zip ties. The vacuum end I just throw over the edge so I can pull it out to clean or swim. My Intex has 3 “holes” and honestly I could use one of those as the intake, and probably should. Each pump needs an intake and return, for the main pump I have 2 intakes, 1 is the skimmer and a return. I could just keep the skimmer on the main pump, use the other intake for vacuum and return would be hose to the vacuum tossed over the side. I wouldn’t cut a hole.

    Your set up looks great! I can see a lot of good times had there! I am planning on buying this pool in a few weeks. The plan, however, it to bury the pool about 4'. I have a slop to my yard of about 2' in 12' so on 24' side will stick out of the ground about 2' higher than the other. My question to you is... the pool is 24'x12', but what is the foot print including the support braces?

    • @gggarageVW69
      @gggarageVW69  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I remember correctly the feet land about 18 inches from the edge of the pool liner. I cleared an extra 3 feet around the pool and put the 4 inch concrete blocks about halfway out.

  • @WendyNikitisLacheiou
    @WendyNikitisLacheiou 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video. What a beautiful yard and home you have indeed. I'm considering purchasing this pool. First experience. So, if I switch out to salt water, I won't need to use all the chlorine chemicals and clarifiers? Thanks GG Garage!

    • @gggarageVW69
      @gggarageVW69  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words. I need to do a year 5 video to update everyone. If you switch to salt water you will greatly reduce the chemicals and cost but not completely. When you open the pool for the season you will need to shock and balance everything but after that all I use is occasionally PH down. I probably average less than 100 a year for chemicals. Initially you will have to buy salt and sand for your filter but it’s not very expensive. Good luck!

      @@gggarageVW69 I just setup a Intex 18' x 52" and added the salt system and love it. Crystal clear. I am in California and will be leaving it up all year long. How has the pool itself held up with the salt system? Do you notice any rust or have you had to replace any parts. Mine is very level only about .250 of an inch off. Prepped well, sand bottom, compacted soil, and dugout for pavers under each leg. I see some on here have great success with salt and others have their pool only for a year or two. I am begining to wonder if some of those come down to the initial prep, how they are taking care of it, and location/ taking down the pool every year, etc... By the way great job and landscaping. I was a Landscape Contractor for 10 years.

I wanted to know if I could leave it for the winter as friends told me to empty in end october. I hear you saying you just leave it for the winter. Here in Belgium it could be freezing, not every winter but it could happen. have you experience this or what is best to do? Thank you.

    Your pool looks great! I bought this same pool from Amazon last year in Sept. I haven't set it up yet. I am planning on doing that in the next month. I have heard some say put sand under, and some say put rigid foam insulation under it. I had not heard anything yet about what to put under each post. A large block makes sense. Is there any advice you can give me on the ground work? Any info would be much appreciated! We work in construction but with wood, not grading so we need all the help we can get! Thanks and I hope mine pool looks as great as yours one day!

      Grade flat approximately 3ft further than pool dimensions. Dog down at legs and install 4in concrete blocks at grade to support legs. Install at least 4in of sifted sand as a base under pool. Install 2 plastic liners over sand, tarps without rings work. I’m on year 4. All the metal parts will rust, I’m constantly painting to protect mine.

    I am setting mine up next to my deck and I am having trouble figuring out exactly how far/close to bring the pool to the deck? They say the 4 corners expand due to movement in the pool. Is that true and how close can I bring it to the deck without the pool hitting it?

    • @gggarageVW69
      @gggarageVW69  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made the area 3ft wider than the pool bottom to allow for the concrete pads under the legs and adjustment as you fill. The legs end up about 24 inches away from the pool bottom. My legs extend under my deck area but I built the deck up to the pool after installing. I’m maybe 4 inches away from the deck, the sides have some movement after filling.

  • @catherinejames1221
    @catherinejames1221 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the deck and the pool! The landscaping looks good. So you don't have any problem with the grass growing through the cover? How much did it cost you to get a bobcat in your yard to level the ground? Did you put sand and then a pad and then the ground cover?

    • @gggarageVW69
      @gggarageVW69  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the bobcat work done at the same time as my garage, but I would expect to pay 250-300. I put down about 10 yards of play sand 4 inches deep and covered with 2 tarps. No problem with grass growing except at the corner legs for some reason. Thanks for the comments!
