    I love the tip about the last CO stitch...never heard of that before. Also, about the CO, and not twisting the stitch.

    I am not experienced with dpns tho I have used them before. I got the flexiflips hoping it would be a lot easier. I tried to find a tutorial that would explain it from A to Z and yours was the only one that did. Now I HAVE had to watch it a whole lot of times to feel comfortable but you explained it extremely well!! Thank you!

    I have to agree with all the other comments that your tutorial is the simplest and the clearest on how to use these flexi flips and believe me, I’ve watched nearly every one and some of them are so confusing I just kept on using the DPN which was such a waste of money when I invested in these. Now I know and I’m very happy so thank you very much. Sometimes you have to keep searching until you find the right one 😊

    Thank you for this, very patient, tutorial - I’m using it for casting on to a 9”circular and it works brilliantly. I really like the fact that you not only show what needs to be done but also explain why you are doing it.

    Thanks for such a clear explanation of this cast on. I got out my Addi flexi flips to try again and found them much easier to knit on after a hiatus. Will try this cast on next.

    Ellen, this is the best demo on the Web for cable cast-ons. I will now use your method for casting on for all my socks, and I knit a lot of socks. This is a fabulous video. I agree. Flexi-Flips should hire you. You are the best I've seen.

    Thank you for explaining about the difference in tightness at the top of the sock/ sweater neck between the pearlwise and knitwise cast ons!! I really dislike loose sweater necks and knowing this will stop that from happening.

    That's a wonderful video! Thank u so much! The bamboo - needles are way more blunt than the metallic needles by Addi are! And Addi are the bluntiest of all flexies at all! Do you know the X - Flex - needles of Chiaogoo and of HiyaHiya ? l didn't know before, they are a lot more poiny and sharp than the blunt Addi's! I love them! This is why l prefer a lot Chiaogoo an HiyaHiya, too! They're way better in my hands! I showed some knitting sisters in my round and not one prefers the Addi's after trying Chiaogoo and Hiya Hiya. In addition, CG and HH have 2" - cables to sell to create your own interchangeable Flexies from 2,0 mm to 10 . 00 mm. That's so fine! I love to practise with them . Thanks for your video! Be blessed and stay healthy!

    Great information, you answered and resolved several question I have been pondering. Did the twisting do something, and the prevelvial gap at the beginning of the the round, and the tip to bring the yarn in between the two stitches at the end is great.

    I have the metal flixiflips, but I wish I had waited for the bamboo ones. The metal ones feel too slick for me. I’ll continue using them and maybe I’ll get used to them .

    nice video! which schoppel admiral cat print colorway did you use? it’s pretty!

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The darker greenish one is from the Hand Dyed Collection and the colorway is Rostente. The completed pink sock is in colorway Fleibiges Lieschen. Just don't ask me to pronounce those ;).

    I've noticed that Addi has their size 1 needles at 2.5 mm vs. the 2.25 mm which I've been knitting my socks at. Does this small difference make a difference in gauge? BTW, excellent tutorial. I'll have to try your method of casting on.

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, 1/4 mm will effect your gauge, so gauge swatching is always a good idea. The addis are available in 2.25 mm though if that's the size you prefer.

    I have tried dpns and could not get the hang of it. Are these easier to use/learn?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't necessarily say they are physically easier to use, but they may make more sense because there are fewer needles to manage.

    Thanks for this. I have a set of flexiflips, but they are metal and not bamboo. I guess all the vids you are doing on the flexiflips would still work for the ones I have?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely. I just got my hands on the bamboo FlexiFlips a couple weeks ago (and love them) but the process is exactly the same for either the metal or the bamboo.

    Hi! What is the purpose of a “cable” cast on?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't know that there's a single purpose for the cable cast on. It's just one of dozens of cast on methods. It creates a pretty edge, is moderately stretchy, and is relatively logical and "easy" to manipulate (as opposed to cast ons using the sling shot position which flumoxes some knitters).
