The older generations are not so accepting, no matter how conservative you are they naturally assume you are “liberal” and don’t understand or respect their culture (which in my case is not true) . Decades ago I met a Korean guy from a dating website. We had two dinner dates. The third time he asked me out, he started talking about being exclusive and marriage. I freaked out and left. I had no idea Korean guys moving fast was a given. I have Korean coworkers who went back to Korea to be set up to meet potential wives. That was how they got married. The country where I grew up also has the same tradition that older generation or friends set up coffee or lunch dates to introduce singles to meet. When we were young we thought it was so artificial. Now I am ahjuma age I have to admit that it is a good way to meet a marriage candidate. Korean guys looking like Kim Soo Hyun or Lee Min Ho is pure fantasy. These guys are unicorns. Most everyday guys are donkeys, not even pure breed horses, who look more like the comedians than hot leading men. The same applies for Korean women. But that’s ok. As long as they don't have too much plastic surgery to be someone else, as as long as they have good character and personality, they deserve a date or two to explore possibilities. To be honest, the traditional Korean faces have Unique charm. Koreans don’t have to look like Bo Gum or Irene to be attractive.

The older generations are not so accepting, no matter how conservative you are they naturally assume you are “liberal” and don’t understand or respect their culture (which in my case is not true) . A lot of parents would not allow their son to marry a foreigner.

Decades ago I met a Korean guy from a dating website. We had two dinner dates. The third time he asked me out, he started talking about being exclusive and marriage. I freaked out and left. I had no idea Korean guys moving fast was a given.
I have Korean coworkers who went back to Korea to be set up to meet potential wives. That was how they got married. The country where I grew up also has the same tradition that older generation or friends set up coffee or lunch dates to introduce singles to meet. When we were young we thought it was so artificial. Now I am ahjuma age I have to admit that it is a good way to meet a marriage candidate.
Korean guys looking like Kim Soo Hyun or Lee Min Ho is pure fantasy. These guys are unicorns. Most everyday guys are donkeys, not even pure breed horses, who look more like the comedians than hot leading men. The same applies for Korean women. But that’s ok. As long as they don't have too much plastic surgery to be someone else, as as long as they have good character and personality, they deserve a date or two to explore possibilities. To be honest, the traditional Korean faces have Unique charm. Koreans don’t have to look like Bo Gum or Irene to be attractive.
