- I finally made it to Italy and I'm ready to start looking at properties. I'm in Friuli-Venezia Giulia near Palmanova. Despite some rainy weather, I'm looking forward to making my way south along the east coast.
Great drone shots! All looks so peaceful and beautiful...
Thanks Stacy!
Enjoying your videos and house hunt in in Italy. Was going to suggest one more source for you to check out. I follow a you tube show called "A Home In Italy". They are usually showcasing homes in Abruzzo region, which I think is on your radar. The homes are reasonable and some may have the amenities you are looking for. Good luck on your adventures!
Thanks to your mom for the listings ! LOL Great Video, can't wait for more.
She said I threw her under the bus in my video. 😂 Glad you liked the properties. There are more to come.
I'm officially jealous! Enjoying your adventure! Thank you!
Glad you're enjoying it. I am too. Thanks for following along.
Hi Mike , I rode my Honda 650 all over California back in the 70's, as drivers started becoming increasingly more aggressive towards bikers I decided not to tempt fate, I no longer ride. I sincerely wish you "SAFE PASSAGES" during your two wheel adventures in Europe & Italy, I presume you purchased all available health+ accident insurances (just in case). I enjoyed viewing your search for an Italian Property , I like your budget constraint, originally I was looking for a single property with a purchase budget of100K Euro ,but that goal evolved into searching for two properties of 50K each (one in a mountainous village and the other in a seaside village. I look forward to following your future postings. Warm regards from Miami Beach , jo donzi - Peace to all 😞
Thanks Joe. How'd you end up in Miami Beach? 😂
Ciao Mike, Piacere! I just found your channel, I’ve also bought a place in Italy in 2023. I am just finishing a restoration in a historic center in Calabria, next to the sea. I absolutely adore the lifestyle and learning Italian. I do not live there, but go back-and-forth to Seattle. Someday may retire there ( if I ever retire, lol) I really enjoy looking at property in other parts of Italy, everything is so unique. I love my new home, but I have a feeling this won’t be my only purchase in Italy as I can’t wait to discover more areas as well. Best wishes and good luck!
Hi Mike, glad found your channel as I am looking in Southern Italy for home. Idealistsa is a worm hole. I spend hours until my eyes sting. Doing the map thing, hardly any agents respond. I learned I need to wait to be there then phone them but I speak little Italian. I’be seen gorgous habitable houses around the Apennines for under 30k. Excited to see that area will be watching your channel. I just came back from Calabria, Scilla and Tropea are astoundingly beautiful. Nice for vacation on the west coast as you are on your bike, if you have not been to that coast worth a look. Also saw amazing places 20 mins inland under 30k Calabria.
Thanks for the tips. I'm planning on being over there on the West Coast in a couple weeks. I'll check these out.
Hi, the calculation of you is not correct. Most of the italian real estate agencies ask a minimum fee of 3000 € plus 22 % Tax makes in total 3.660 €.
I'm meeting with my first Italian realtor tomorrow so I'll get all the details then. Thanks for the information.
Closest beach to the Isola place is called Terracina and is about 45 minutes from there. Beaches there are gorgeous wide sand and you can walk out a long way before being over your head. Bit further south is Gaeta and then Sperlonga. Fantastic beach area. Also some great riding roads in that area.
That's great news! Thanks for the information.
loving following your exploration....thanjs for sharing...
Thanks for following along. 👍
Exciting to hear more on yr Real Estate journey...family having Tuscany Wedding next week ( Summerlin Las Vegas 55+ Siena homeowner)
What mapping program is that? That was really cool to see the topography & distance there. Thank you!
That was just Google Maps. If you use the Chrome browser (by Google of course) you can use some of those advanced features. You can also download Google Earth to your desktop/laptop for free which is incredible.
@@aroundtheworldwithmike Thank you! I'm really impressed. I've only used regular Google maps through real estate apps that gives basic directions but not topography & perspective like the one you showed. Super cool point of view to see the area from that perspective. Great video. Thanks!!
near palmanova is a small town with loads of roman ruins.
Cool! Next time I'm in that area I'll look around a bit more. There are Roman ruins everywhere in Italy. I love it.
Hi Mike, I subscribed for you. We're expats living in Asia and it gets really hot starting March. So we're thinking 90 days in Italy, as a base. We want to explore Europe. With 20 regions in Italy, how do you narrow it down. We have beaches where we live now. We don't want hot and muggy. So we're thinking more central to north Italy. Good luck with your search. We're planning a month next March.
I live in Asia, too (Japan) and thinking similarly. Italy is pretty hot and humid in Summer, but I believe it’s better than Tokyo summers, which now seem to end in October. Within Italy, for a comfortable summer, I’m thinking the mountains, the northern lakes, and seaside. Liguria Coast?
@@iseolake Yes, it's a puzzle and it's only solved by experimenting , I suppose. For example, my wife is Asian and has less tolerance for cold, so do I even go to Italy in March? Then what's better for us, small Villages on hills or large flat urban areas ? I think it will take at least two 30-60 day trips of driving and trains to decide on anything and a couple of years to soak it all in. We may be renters for 10 years, not owners, but I have always enjoyed the peace of owning our own places. Much to decide ! Good luck to you !
