Proverbs 31:27... I'm totally on board with stocking up on staples for our own families and to help others as well...not hoarding but wise buying ahead.. especially if staple items are on sale..i think it shows wisdom...the Lord will guide you...God bless.. ❤️

The Lord laid this on my heart also.Me as a mother knew in bad times we would want to take care of our family. So we began buying extra each grocery trip and set it aside .When the time came that things were scarce we were able to have that extra and we know the wisdom given us was from the Lord.

Storing and planning for hard times was wired into me from my mom who got it as a child during the Great Depression. It is absolutely natural to me. Then as a military wife I was expected to maintain our home pantry so that if hubby was deployed suddenly there wouldn't be hardship. We're retired empty nesters now and I garden for our health and to be able to grow enough to share and preserve. When people were assaulting one another in stores a year ago I was able to stay away because of having a sensible amount of household needs set back already. And yes, I was able to share with family too. Striving to be a Proverbs 31 woman calms my heart.

My eyes were opened when I went to the grocery store and saw nothing but empty shelves. I never want to be in that situation again. I've been slowly buying extra items when I shop. I don't think it's lack of trust in the Lord or hoarding, I feel that God puts things on our hearts for a reason and every time I've ignored it, it turned out wrong. I personally feel we should be storing up and preparing for the next "storm".

In 1989 we went thru a 7.1 earthquake in Santa Cruz, ca. The stores ran out of food and the lines were very long when they finally got some. After that we have always had a storage of food and other important items. Always good to have a bit extra.

I understand your ambivalence about being prepared as far as food goes. For the past 8 months or so I‘be felt the Lord is nudging me to be more prepared. I am planting a bigger garden this year to be able to process more food for storage and to share with folks at church that can’t grow a garden. I’ve been buying a little extra as I see good sales to store. My plan is to have enough for 5-6 months. One never knows what is going to happen and I think it is just wise to be prepared.
The past few weeks we’ve had several families at church going through various crises and I have been able to bring meals to them from what I have in my pantry. I enjoy being able to serve in that way.
My health isn’t great and many days I have to really pace myself. Meal prep is so much easier with a stocked pantry. Right now I am trying to use up a lot of pantry goods in meals so I can use up older items and know what I need to get.

Baked Spaghetti looks delicious! Leslie, I think you are on the right track. Hoarding is not good but preparing is very wise! You read the Bible scripture's that answered your own question. I think you should have at least 6 months prep for your family. The way this world is going right now we never know what tomorrow will bring. Yes, I agree we should trust the Lord. He is our provider and wants us to take care of our families. So if God has given you enough to provide for your family and some friends you should prepare. Nothing wrong with that. That's my opinion! God bless!

Thanks for sharing your ideas on preparing for food in tough times. Last summer I really believed God spoke to my spirit about filling my freezer & pantry with some extra food & household items. I only felt led to gather enough for a few weeks, just in case of power outages, storms, store shut-downs, etc. I, like you, wanted to be certain that I was following the prompting of the Holy Spirit and not acting out of fear or needless worry. God led me to the exact same story of Joseph that you referenced. Joseph was the ultimate "prepper." So I began to just buy items as I found them on sale. I rotate my pantry & freezer and replace what we use. And, like you, I felt that God was prompting me to have enough to help out our elderly parents as well as our kids and grandkids in times of need or shortage. God has blessed that effort and He helped me to get organized so that I rarely have to pay full price for any of our favorite & most commonly needed items. I am able to wait now for a good sale price and still have what we need whenever we need it, with enough to share. I truly believe God is helping His Bride navigate through some tough times for one reason and one reason only .... He is faithful. He has promised to supply all our needs according to HIS riches in Glory. That is enough for me. His grace is sufficient. And I am comforted and encouraged to hear Him leading other believers in the same direction. He is the Great Shepherd! I look forward to your "let's chat" videos. May our Father keep y'all safe as these storms pass us by. God Bless!

I'm on about the same page as you. We're going to plant and preserve more this year. Something I believe God has laid on my heart is that even if we never need all the food we put back, someone else may need it and it will be here. :-) Those storms came through here yesterday (Wednesday) and there wasn't anyone hurt that I know of. Praying the same for y'all.

Such a full video. The spaghetti pie looks delicious and something to share with another families situation....illness, death, birth, etc. Maddy sounds so amazing for 12 yrs old. The devotion video would be so wonderful. .God will tell you whenever. And the food storage. I have done some of that. My mind swirls with scenerios.....unexpected winter weather, hurricanes, no electricity for many days, drinking water situations, etc. My mind swirls in many directions. I agree, not fear, but smart. Another channel that I watch has a woman that has a homestead and talks about the Lord, farming, gardening, etc and is also storing. As she and you have said.....in the end times there will be things. Not if, but when. Am praying that God will give you wisdom and directon in all you do. Praying y'all are safe. God's blessings. Love y'all. ❤️❤️

I think that's a great idea to start storing a bit of extra. It's never a bad idea to have a reasonable amount stored. I think the scripture you cited is the perfect answer. Plus just listening to what you said, I can tell that yes you want to prepare for your family but not just them. You want to be where you can help others if the need arises that they need help. As someone who grew up in a single parent home and that parent was disabled, I can tell you there were times that we depended on help from others to help us get thru when an emergency occurred. I'm so thankful that there were caring people around. I think it's a wonderful idea and comes from your heart being in the right place wanting to make sure your family and others are cared for in times of need.

I am trying to find the right words to comment on this...so... I feel in my heart that God truly loves us all...He doesn't want us to struggle. I have started a little bit in stocking up myself simply because sometimes I like to give foods that I have cooked to my widower neighbor, and my elderly neighbors. I so enjoy doing this and I just like to help people. It is somewhat a ministry for me to mail out a "Thinking of You" card just to let people know I am here for them...and then give some prepared food to my neighbors also. I think your you-tube videos on cooking are fabulous and I really enjoy them. You are a blessing to others and God is using you. Now as far as you stocking up your pantry, I say go for it. God will richly bless you as you prepare foods for your neighbors. I am looking forward to the devotionals also and I think God showed you that scripture to let you know that yes its okay to stock up...Take care my friend. Prayers for you & your Family.

I do so appreciate you voicing the difference between prudence and ungodly, destructive fear. You are right on target. With some stored basics plus essential spices for flavoring a hunter can survive for some time. Something I have never done, but probably should is to think about purifying water. In Texas they ran out of clean drinking water recently. Something to think about.

I prep for the things that life can throw at us. You never know when a bad storm will take out your power for days, or a job loss or a serious illness that leaves you with no income. I have 2-3 months of food stocked but it's not just for me. I share with family, friends and neighbors. I feel it's just smart to be prepared but not to the extent of being a hoarder. I am fortunate that I have a good retirement income so I can afford to stock up. When the shutdown hit I did not go to a store for 36 days and I never missed a meal. I realized then that I needed more variety in my preps so I have made a few changes. You might want to check out She's in Her Apron on YT. She has a lot of info on starting food storage. Good luck!

I am going to make that baked spaghetti and take it in our RV camping for a fast meal. I have always had about a 3 months supply of food. A small amount of long term them regular groceries we use all the time. As you said if a neighbor needs help you can help, if your sick you have something there you don't have to get out of the house. If company shops up you have extra to feed them. The storms you were talking about came through here in Tuscaloosa County Alabama where I live and if I need I can take meals to a family that lost their home. I can feed my 2 daughters and their family. I think it is just smart housekeeping.

Back when this all started we started buying four of every canned item that we used. We put two on a shelf in our basement for back up. We have been doing this for a year now and we were able to fall on the canned goods and paper products (we never hoarded toilet paper, napkins or paper towels) when we had some bad weather and couldn't get out to the store. My wish is to be able to buy a freezer this year and have it stocked with meat for this coming winter when the weather is bad. Love your videos. My husband and I are in our 70s and taking care of my 95 year father who also uses the food we have been stocking up and buying twice a month.

I Absolutely agree on stocking up on food that we need and use. I Love canning! I Absolutely think that it's very wise especially in this day and time. Yes I think that we all should store up, for a few month's. I rely on Our Father for every single thing in my life. Much Love and Blessings to you Leslie and your family and everyone here. GOD BLESS. 💜💜💜💜💜💜 The storm's were crazy down here in South Carolina. Be safe everyone! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜I forgot to add, I Absolutely Love the baked spaghetti, I will make it. I'm in my 50's and have alway's made it the old fashioned way but I'm definitely going to give this a try. Thank you so very much for sharing this video with us.

Enjoyed your as I call it food for thought, yes I think a little stocking up is good because I think less trips to the store the better. Also wanted to mention to you,you should grate your own cheese the bag kind has additives and when you grate your own it tastes even better as well. Looking forward to your upcoming videos, stay blessed ❤️

If you use what you store and rotate it out than that's a good idea, never take more than you need is a wise idea. The baked spaghetti looked good. I'm going over to Buckhorn outdoors, grew up in a hunting family, will be glad to follow her💕

My grandparents and my mom & dad and aunts and uncles went through the great depression and that was really bad. I grew up canning vegetables, fruit, making like 200 fruit pies for winter and dividing them between 3 families or 4 to have during the winter. We hardly ever bought vegetables, or fruit from the store, we very seldom bought meat from the store we had beef, pork, lamb, and chickens. One time when I was in my 20's I raised 12 chickens from babies in our chicken coop and when they were dressed out they all weighed 11 pounds or a little under. I guess they liked the food I gave them. My grandpa said they were small turkeys, lol. I got razzed about that for a long time.
I have grown up my entire life buying a entire months worth of groceries at one time and 40 years ago what would cost me 100.00 cost almost 400.00 now. Great inflation.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend, be safe and stay dry.💗🙏🌞

Leslie, I keep close to 6 months worth of food in my house at all times. With these stores I have been able to support my in-loves when they had a bad car wreck, I have been able to help my son and his family when pay checks were short, I've helped people I don't even know just because I heard there was a need and all this without cutting my house short of food. There have been times that those stores were all we had when we've been between jobs. Saying all that I obviously think keeping extra stored is a good idea. This past March when everyone was emptying the store shelves my extended family and friends were able to come to me for what the store didn't have. I believe God made it possible for me to be this well stocked for a reason and it's too help others so that's what I do.

I thank God for all I have and I trust in him totally. I have a large garden and I can and preserve all that I grow and raise. We have 5 children and 12 grandkids and like you I want to take care of them and our older parents if there is a catastrophe. I store enough so that I dont go to the store maybe twice a month and make as much as I can from scratch . I believe that we are expected to take care of our selfs as much as we can but believe in god and his love for us. I hope that what I do doesn’t offend him and make him think I don’t believe and trust in him, God Bless

Leslie, it is Sept 11, 21 now and I am a new subscriber and have been watching your channel. I , too, have been struggling with storing a few months of food trusting God. So I prayed and asked God to show me what He wants me to do.... Well, I decided to watch your baked spaghetti video for the recipe and WOW, when you started talking about storing food and what the Bible has to say about it, that was CONFIRMATION to me. I have been storing extra food for a year now. When I go to the store to get groceries, I simply buy a few extra items at a time and I have a closet in one of our bedrooms where I store it. I am storing enough food to last us a year. But storing for 25 to 30 years is just too much for me. I am 69 and my hubby is 72, so we just feel it is not necessary to store long term. Plus I am confident that we are living in the last days , however long it will last. If the Rapture happens and we don't use the food we stored, then it will be here for someone else after I'm gone and I asked God to bless it for the use of others when I am gone. I also love my neighbors so much, I want to be able to give food to them when needed. So Girlfriend, A BIG THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! And God bless you and your family! i just started canning. i want to be prepared as prices rise. mom canned and potted meat . dad hnted. we didnt have plenty but we had enough. but without that prepared food we would of done without. probably even been hungry. as prices rise it will be very hard for those of us with tight budgets to provide for our family. i also am a giver. would share what we have witth others in need. will not resort to being fearful , just prepared. enjoy your channel very much. would also enjoy devotions. god bless and keep up the great work.

Hi Leslie i understand that line that you are speaking of i myself have prepared for emergencies I have enough stored for about a 3 month supply for my family and friends or anyone in need I don’t hoard and I don’t take every item from a grocery shelf but I do stock up on the items we use the most of. During this past year I have been able to help some of my family and friends. I have an elderly woman who is 89 yrs old she lives across the street from me and she has cancer I.have been able to supply her with groceries when she couldn’t go into the stores I have also helped out other neighbors as well. A good example was last Easter our state was in lock down and a few of my neighbors didn’t have an Easter dinner that day but I had enough to feed my family and 2 other families in my neighborhood I am blessed and I will always share what I have

Love baked spaghetti casserole making it for Easter to serve with glazed ham.
It is wise to always have some extra things on hands and home canned items and extra items for baking bread and making desserts. One never knows what can happen and food prices are going up as well. It is always good to have a couple of months food on hand and prepare meals from what one has on hand and not to need to go to the store for alittle while.
