Just ordered my first baitcaster. I always used spinning rods. Everyone says once I get use to the baitcaster, I’ll never want to go back to the spinning rod. This video was very informative and I intended to take it a shop & have them spool it for me, but since watching this video I’m going to try it myself. 😮 Thanks!
No problem! Glad we can help out! Let us know if you want to see anything else! Once I learned baitcasters it’s my main go to in most situations! Spinning reels definitely have their time and place though!
Can you go into depth on what to have your brakes at, drag, and tension spool at when reeling bc my brother was messing with my baitcaster before I tried to spool it and I don’t know if I should set my brakes to the max when spooling or the drag. So could you please help me
We can definitely go over that in a video soon! It really depends on personal preference when you really break it down but we can go over what feels good for us and you can adjust off of that!
Great video. Thank you. Question though. What size line do you recommend for a baitcaster? I'm seeing a lot of advice online indicating you don't want lighter than 20 lbs. What do you recommend?
Thanks! I would suggest between 10 pound and 20 pound depending on your application. If you’re fishing heavier cover such as sticks and rocks I would say 20lb. If you’re fishing a lighter lure in open water or finesse style fishing I would lean toward the lighter line!
My question is where do you put the tag end when you’re done? I don’t like keeping the reel on the rod. Spinning reels have a little tab you can wrap the tag end around to stop the line unspooling. Baitcasters don’t seem to have a tab!
Great question. The best I have found is taking some line out of the reel, tying a loop in the line and hooking the loop to the handle of the reel and then tightening it.
Bro of ALLLL the videos on spooling baitcasters, this is hands down the best, most simple, and straight to the point video. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

Just bought my first baitcaster today and was wondering if you could use the holes. Very informative. Thanks man!
Of course! Glad it helped you out!
I have same bait caster and it is my first. Once you get used to the operation and thumb brakes, it’s unbelievable!
It is definitely a great reel for the price!!
Easily the best spool video
Thank you good sir
Great to the point video
Can you tell me what reel that is please ?
I've got a rod I just thought that it would look great on 😍
Thank you! The reel is the Abu Garcia Max Pro. I’ve fished with it a bit and has been a great reel for the price!
Thanks for the help
Of course! You’re welcome!

Where do you hook the line on for storage
We usually will tie a loop knot and put it around the back of the reel seat if it’s off a rod and around the handle if it’s on a rod!
@RIOTOutdoorsYT ty
I couldn't see how he did the knot.
Let us know what knot you need to see and we can get a short posted on it soon!
@@RIOTOutdoorsYT sounds good. Thanks Brother.
