The concept MIGHT be based of pd101 but i dont think it should be an issue even if it is. nothing is original nowadays, everybody takes inspiration from somewhere 🤷🏽♀️ i just hope the finalised group actually gets somewhere and doesnt disband after a year :/

It's not about shows that seek talented people. Those shows are auditioning people to find talent and possibly make someone famous. It's about the concept of starting off with a large group of people and slowly going down to just a select amount with the sole purpose of forming a boy band. This new "Boy Band" show and the Korean show "Produce 101" seem to be almost exactly the same. Not saying that's a bad thing tho. And nobody said or even implied that kpop is better than american pop, nor is anyone acting like Korean survivals don't take notes from American shows. If ya take a look up there, it was actually someone that said American pop is better than kpop.

I understand that there is no boy bands really in America, so there is a market (possibly, idk how this will work here), and I mean I feel like a lot of American pop music was defined by old boy bands and girl groups, so it makes sense that this may not be at all inspired by produce 101. HOWEVER, you also can't deny that Korea is killing it with their kpop/hallyu wave which is filled with boy bands and girl groups, and the fact that Korea had a show like Produce 101, it does seem a bit coincidental. I mean there's a huge chance that this show has not been inspired in any way by Korean's survival shows, but there is a chance still. To say that the original comment is in anyway suggesting that kpop is better than american pop, or that they aren't aware that America had survival shows, is very ignorant. Produce 101 is a show specifically to build a boy band (season 2 anyway), to be frank there hasn't really been any recent american survival shows which do this, because although groups may have been formed on survival shows like x-factor, x-factor wasn't made to form groups, which this show is and so is produce 101. Before you judge others and interpret their comment as you wish, educate yourself first. Maybe you are aware of what Produce 101 is, but if you do know of the show, then you probably wouldn't have taken the original comment in such a rude way.
