I think its representative of her feeling trapped by circumstance, the kanye phone call & song , public turning on her situations but it might also have been a little feeling trapped by her record label as its worth knowing this album came out & she finally got the courage to leave!! It also references the Kim/Kanye situation as after he put a naked waxwork of her in his video she came out with this video where her true self was naked in her own robot way, then morphed into various things including a quick screen showing her as as snakes. This references how Kim turned social media on Taylor by calling her a snake. This video shows taylor taking back her power, & showing they couldnt break her, & she even embraced the snake thing & it runs throughout the whole album. This song is one of the best clapbacks without saying a word. Look what you made me do mv is the biggest clapback, is an amazing video & has SOOOO many easter eggs that after watching the song it might be worth reacting to one of the youtube videos dissecting the easter eggs in the song. Lauren Lipman has an amazing one, & id definitely watch you if you reacted to both!! ( its worth a try me mentioning it at least!! )😁😘

Because of Kanye and Kim everyone spammed her with snake emojis attacked her all over the radio and tv. They all made her seem like a “villain nasty snake” so she came back once day with a snake video on Instagram and made a trap pop album where she played into the persona of being what everyone wanted her to be. This is the album opener so she’s basically saying “are you ready for what’s about to happen”. (also the things that Kim and Kanye said about her were proven to be fake and they edited a phone call and everyone turned onto them…so karma haha)
Some stands out from the album are I did something bad and don’t blame me….also she has some songs that aren’t as edgy like delicate, New Year’s Day and call it what you want that shows her true self. (Btw delicate has a music video) and lwymmd was the lead single but in my opinion the song isn’t very good it’s more of a statement rather than a song made to be a masterpiece
