  • ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) reached a significant milestone with the successful launch of its 100th mission, GSLV-F15, carrying the NVS-02 navigation satellite. The mission, launched from Sriharikota, underscores the remarkable progress ISRO has made over the past few decades in the field of space technology. According to Nambi Narayan, former scientist, this launch is a momentous occasion, not only celebrating the organization’s achievements but also laying the foundation for more ambitious future missions.
The NVS-02 satellite will be part of India’s own navigation system, known as NAVIC, which aims to provide accurate positioning within the region. The system, designed to rival the American GPS, will use a constellation of seven satellites, with rubidium atomic clocks for precise timing and synchronization. Kapoor highlighted that NAVIC’s coverage will extend over a vast area, providing highly accurate positioning for India and surrounding regions, significantly enhancing infrastructure and technological capabilities.
