Thank you so much ! I don't think there is a specific raag. May be some thing of the Khamas genre. Since it's a film songs, it would be difficult to say.

Another anecdote I found was from Dennis Joseph Sir's Safari channel video, where Shyam Sir pleaded with Salilda to come to the studio for this song's recording. Salilda, who didn't think much of Shyam Sir, was so impressed with this song that it left him thoroughly speechless.
May I ask the raga to which 'Mainakam' is set, sir? Also, sir, are there any similarities with Salilda's Hindi song, 'Ni Sa Ga Ma Pa Ni'? I want to know the raga for this song, as I have found differing opinions on it, including raga Kalavathi, for which I believe 'Mainakam' is also set.
I always thought that Shyam Sir wanted Salilda to listen to 'Mainakam' due to the way it felt similar to the latter.
Thank you so much for this detailed note, Sir/Madam!! I think this is not based on a pure raga. Yes may be some similarities to "Khamaj" in Hindustani, as you say in "Ni Sa Ga Ma Pa" .. like in Chotta muthal chudala vare etc. I prefer not to mention ragas in many cases because of obvious reasons 😁😁
