There is a certain place that Stan goes ... and some of us know where that place is ...and when we all get there .... magic happens. I love many sax players ...but Stan takes me to that "place" each and every time. Thanks, Stan ... for the ride.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! To have been there and see him play...I'm jealous! I never tire of his music; together with Joao Gilberto, it's magic , even after all those years!
Stan lived in northern Strandvej in Elsinore a few years back in the sixties! My friend Charlotte Dyrup, came into the house to jam session on the beach! It was a fantastic time with some of the best jazz musicians ... then! for example. when Stan played like Gerry Mulligan and Gerry played like Stan! ... fantastic !!!!!!!
we all miss Stan but his music lives on - I listen to it alot in the car & online. Although he rarely behaved like an angel he sure as 'ell had an angelic tone to his music. I particularly like Stan playing on Sauter's album 'Focus'.
Charlie Haden wrote this for his wife, Ruth. It's a beautiful piece. Stan really dug deep on it and the emotion in his playing goes right through the heart.
I attended one of the very last recitals classical pianist Shura Cherkassky gave, less than three months before he died. He played with a transcendance that is equalled here by Stan Getz.
I've been learning this piece - my wife is called Ruth - it is technically difficult but is a beautiful composition; no-one beats Stan Getz's rendition; wonderfl stuff.
After6ty, a great many thanks for uploading and for your comment. Only at 65 I cannot find Stan 'cool' - he once said to an interviewer: 'I always want to play the blues, and all that comes out is this Jewish ache', and indeed that's what kills me. Thanks again!
There are no words for this music.
Just beautiful.
Actually, there are. Abbey Lincoln sings it....
But, I know what you mean, and agree...
Getz is the Best. My regret is not seeing hime live. I have his picture on my wall, he is my playing inspiration.
This is so heartbreaking. I first heard it on the movie Gattica and now every-time I listen to I my soul cries out out...
I believe this tune is Stan's most emotionally outpouring melody. His swan song indeed! Never get tired of listening to it. Levon
Thank you. The music is sublime.
This goes straight to your heart.
Unbelievable.
Denis
Pure nostalgy. I love this theme, it's a unique sensation!
Thank you, Getz... thank you, Jazz!
My 1st song's 4 U, Danishe!
after6ty, you did this with loving care. Thanks.

Extraordinarily moving ... It 'was my teacher that I was inspired from an early age 60. I have great memories of this album Stan !!!!

Merci.
this is most probably one of the best love songs ever played.
beautiful song!
Didn't know this masterpiece beafore... How beautiful it is!
so beautiful
I am sorry.I don't know English.
I present this song to my mother. She died 25th May.
I listed this song when my mind very sad 10 years ago.

A beautiful composition by the late Charlie Haden!

Haden+Getz = music .....true music
If you mean Charlie Haden the bassist, then yes, without a doubt.
This First Song is a His Last Song.
Great Performance.
Wonderful performance

So Nice
So Good
So Jazz!!!
Ese sonido, ese sentimiento, solo Stan G.
I attended one of the very last recitals classical pianist Shura Cherkassky gave, less than three months before he died. He played with a transcendance that is equalled here by Stan Getz.
Less noise - the better jazz can be!

Magic
REAL, SUBLIME, INFINITO...
I missed you, Stan……
Nice!
Bellisimo me encanta
