I think it has to do with the fact that Bungie went out of their way to make Halo have its own identity when it came to how the game looked. Forerunner and Covenant items and locations dont really have a real-world equivalent to compare it to so since the textures and modeling are so unique, they look better as a result. I also think they look as lovely as the day they released.
Now I know it's just me but I swear Halo 2 looks better than Halo 3. Yes the latter was the first hd game in the series it also over brightened things. Or maybe the MCC did.
Nostalgia, yes, but not misguided nostalgia. The mainline Bungie games sure play and look fine just like Doom, Half-Life, and Blood, and that's even with newcomers nowadays.
Me and my friend started played halo 3 again the other day and every single time we start that first mission one of us is like “this game still looks beautiful”
Yep. Same goes for shooters today in general. There are way too many abilities, weapons, etc. in today's games that it is just too overwhelming and not fun.
Thank you for editing this with clips. I couldn’t imagine how tedious it was putting clips together and editing etc. It made the video much more enjoyable for me. Seriously. Thank you for editing it. You’ve unlocked so many memories for me because I was seeing these maps and it just hearing you talk about it.
Chiron is the GOAT map for splitscreen ffa or team slayer, you haven't lived until you've played that with a bunch of people losing their minds from its madness🤣
Hidden Xperia is the GOAT for gaming content. Loving this series. Keep up the amazing work! Content idea: keep doing tier lists outside of Halo. A souls series tier lost from you would be legit.
I'm just impressed with your ability to find and organize all of this information on Halo. There's no one more qualified on all things Halo than you. Loved listening to this bro, thank you!
You hurt me with that Standoff ranking. I really enjoy that map’s gameplay flow with the vehicles and power weapons. Constant action and it truly felt like two large teams just going ham on each other. Now of course it isn’t like my favorite of all time, but easily fits within bottom A or top of B for me Overall, I agreed with most parts of your list. Solid video
I agree completely! Wasn't a huge fan of Standoff back in the day for some reason but have loved it in recent years on MCC. There's a constant firefight in the center for Splaser spawn while smaller skirmishes happen on the flanks and within the bases. Excellent warthog gameplay as well, its one of my favorite maps now. Definitely doesn't deserve D-tier.
Hey xperia, advice if you do more tier lists, talk about the subject THEN rank it. I think it makes its better to talk about it and wonder where its gonna be ranked then ranking it and then wondering why its ranked as it is. Just a thought tho, great video
Now I really want to go home and play MCC. I do really miss maps that were fun to play and somehow didn’t really get stale if you played it multiple times. There are so many of these maps that are still so much better than most of the maps that other FPS titles are putting out. Truly iconic!

Man Halo 5's Infection was insane, every map was good on Infection: Overgrowth, Riptide, Molten, Plaza, etc. I also really LOVED Mercy and Attack on Sanctum. I deeply enjoyed Halo 5's multiplayer
This was exactly what I was looking for. Didnt agree with your list, but thats why its your list not mine. Was very pleased you put footage of each map instead of a tiny template like most lists are made
Personally, I always had a special love for the DLC maps of Halo 2. I always thought they looked really pretty, and It's a bit of a shame some of them are favored in MCC matchmaking over others. But if I had to choose a map, Forge World easily takes the cake for being such a charming and relatively diverse forge map as opposed to the very flat Sandbox, Foundry, or Forge Island. It gives newer forgers something to start with when there is built in terrain and whatnot, as opposed to starting from scratch which is what I think made it perfect. that mentality of "hey this cave is cool, lets make something in it"
Is it just me but while watching this video, the gameplay took a huge shift from halo 1-3 to halo reach 4-infinite. I knew the gameplay was always different but in this it made me realize what. In the first the gameplay was much more chaotic, grenades flying around, different types of weapons being, on btb maps so many more vehicles and chaos. While after reach, the gameplay turned into just using dmr, br, sniper. everything was ranged, barely any weapon diversity, barely any grenades, everything was really precise. It was just really noticeable for me. Now people can prefer whichever style they want and all the power to them but just sucks when the style you prefer changes.
Love these tier list videos! I know each one keeps getting longer but I think the ultimate tier list video you could do (which would take a long time) would be a Halo soundtrack tier list (CE - Infinite)
Loved how u finished Halo3 maps with the music that is played on "Halo" mission from Halo 3, with Chief climbing back up the Foward Unto Dawn to Cortana, and just brings himself up to face her, as she stands up, as the Dawn flies away from The Ark and the self destruction from the pre mature Firing of the Halo Ring
Halo 4's Perdition is probably my favourite map for vehicles. Specifically, the situation where there's that one vehicle that's really dominating you. I think it's usually a Mantis in that map, but it always felt like the team had to work together to take it down but it wasn't miserable, like fighting Scorpions in Infinite is.
I very much prefer CE through Reach over 4, but I do have to say that Perdition is my favorite map in Halo 4 and probably the one I'd consider putting in A/S tier were I to rank all of them
@HiddenXperia I've been looking forward to this vid being released, and couldn't believe it when I saw my gameplay shown in the Battle of Noctus section. Appreciate the citation too, thanks my dude 🙌
This just makes me so excited for Halo Infinite Forge. The fact that you can make maps look basically 1:1 to developer made maps, just makes me so excited because I know that there will be a fan-made remake of EVERY Halo map ever made eventually, and they will all look like actual developer made remasters. God I cannot wait.
I’m loving these tier list videos. Fingers crossed for when you make a weapons/vehicles tier list, although I’m sure you’re waiting until infinite adds the rest of their weapons. I wanna hear your opinions on things like all the beam rifle variants there are, or the ways vehicles changed throughout the games. I never played halo 5, but I heard there were weapon and vehicle variants within that same game.
You were right to put your attention towards sandtrap. But your inability to protect stand-off was a monumental failure. In all seriousness another banger of a vid. Well done. Truly ICONIC!

Id have to say that *Lockout* from Halo 2 is byfar one of the most iconic maps not just in Halo, not just for Xbox, not just for FPS's, but ALL games in history. That map created many pro gamers to this day who spent many many hours lurking the corners and turns of the all too familiar BR and Snipe Towers, and then throwing your cards down, chips all in, and thrusting yourselves in the middle to have the ultimate face off in the middle propelling off the platforms to the ultimate high noon showdown while your teamates spawn fuck the enemy underneath you in the "basement" of the level. Iconic just doesn't even fully describe it

I actually really enjoy Standoff for Objective based games and Rat's Nest for really anything. Standoff is one of the few btb maps without a sniper to dominate it, and I feel like it plays out almost like a series of trenches, where people take cover and scoot between rocks, while lobbing grenades over the hills. It plays very differently to other maps, but I feel like it's one of the few maps where the warthog is really able to shine, and requires some good coordination. Rat's Nest on the other hand is just stupid fun for me. The warthog lanes run around the entire map, and there's just something about driving around it that activates my neurons. All the while, the meat grinder in the center is where the true battle takes place, and you've got to choose whether you risk running on the outer ring to go for a flank, or if you hang on the outside and wait to catch anyone trying to sneak by. I don't know, it can just be played so many different ways and I enjoy it. That said, glad to see you mention Terminal and Waterworks. I love the bases on Waterworks with multiple levels, the vehicle selection, and how they interact with the terrain, especially the bridges extending from both bases to the center that create some fun cross-fire. And Terminal, well I love the train.

Reach brought so many good things to the Halo multiplayer world, but specifically I just LOVE the diversity of each map. They all felt very different from each other but not necessarily in a bad way.

I would like a Halo weapons tier list including all the iterations of each weapon throughout the years. Even better, a tier list video of the entire sandbox (Weapons, Vehicles, Equipment, Armor Abilities) throughout the FPS games.
Hey Hidden, I haven't seen it mentioned yet but Narrows is basically the spiritual successor to Gephyrophobia just on a smaller scale! It's hard to notice I think because of the different atmosphere and aesthetic but it's there!! One of my favorites fur sure!
