ummm...... so both of the storybook game final bosses arent secret just ones a pain in the bumper to reach (alf layla wa layla) and the other is just play on (vs merlina) from when ya from putting king arthur's demon form in the dumpster (for the record king arthur is the easiest boss in the whole game)

I miss the secret true final bosses in the Sonic games, and the fact that you had to super transformations in order to beat them! I wish we could go back to those days, cuz most of those games were some of the best Sonic games ever!
I hope that with the open end style of Frontiers we might get another one of these secret bosses. I miss them :(

But I just have my hopes up. I’ll probably be more reasonable with my expectations when we see gameplay.
@@awildmoose6541 Not that Sonic adventure 1/2 didn't have flaws, but I feel that Sega and the Sonic team has failed at every turn to make a good 3D sonic game since both gameplay and story wise. Plus, you got to control not just sonic but the rest of his friends allowing for a "better" more well-rounded story seen from multiple angles and more diverse gameplay mechanics other than seeing how fast you can get from point A to point B in a stage. Do I think that the current Sonic Team can pull this off, no, but with Ian Flynn, writer behind the well-received Archie and now IDW sonic comics, supposedly writing the story for Frontiers maybe the game has a chance.

I've never been a huge fan of Sonic games , but I've enjoyed Sonic Rush a lot. Seeing the cutscenes and fight along with the catchy song ... Big nostalgia there.
Ah yes the Sonic Heroes super transformation where we were all hyped to see Super Tails and his guardian flickies and Hyper Knuckles being all pink and we got.... Yellow glowing aura shields.
Yeah... for some reason Sega decided to retcon super forms to only be available to male hedgehogs specifically, and it has never made sense to me
It still burns me up inside they didn't get a proper super form

Sonic Rush takes me back so much and damn, that song Wrapped in Black, I never got it out of my head, EVER. Since I was a child it gave me rushes of adrenaline so I loved playing through it over and over and did my best to save it so I can listen to it whenever. I'm in such awe cuz I literally clicked hoping to see it again XD
I'm surprised that Blaze was never considered a rival to Sonic.
She even has her OWN chaos emeralds.
To be fair, she's just female Sonic from another dimension. And she doesn't have much reason or motivation to be antagonistic towards Sonic that'd classify her as a "rival".
@Mr. Yolo My mistake. When I say "female Sonic", I mean in terms of her speed, design and typical alternate universe tropes. She has Sonic's shoe design, her own version of the chaos emeralds, is as fast, and fights her own Eggman. But in terms of personality, she is very much her own character and differs from Sonic. Its like Barry Allen and Jay garrick, despite being universal counterparts, they're nothing alike in personality.
Thats also why she wouldn't be a rival to Sonic. As far as her personality goes, she's got no reason to be.

@@sofaris576 I didn't say she needs to be an enemy to be a rival. I said that her personality and motivations don't give much reasons for having any rivalry with Sonic. In Rush, she was only antagonistic towards not just Sonic, but everyone due to misunderstandings and fear of dependability on others. And thats as far as that goes. She's got no real reason to be rivalling Sonic, wholesome or not, because that's not her character.

I kinda like how the Sonic Colors DS Version's secret final boss theme sounds more like a piece of music from the chiptune era particularly from the NES to GBA era than from the DS era

Not gonna lie, I really miss the secret bosses in sonic games having vocal rock songs as the themes like in SA2 and Heroes just to name a few. I still love live and learn, open your heart, what I'm made of, I even love sonic and the black knights final boss song. The newer sonic games kinda stepped back from that, but they still have good soundtracks. Just not like the older games in my opinion.

I wouldn't consider final bosses like Perfect Chaos, Final Hazard, and Solaris to be secret. The reason I say this is because you may have to beat the multiple character stories to make them appear but you don't special requirements like the chaos emeralds.

I never understood why the DS version of Colors got a super sonic boss but the Wii version didn't.
Even worse how they didn't even consider adding the boss to Colors Ultimate. Would've been a way better purchase incentive than a cosmetic system.
They were never going to go out of their way to program an entirely new boss for colors' remaster. This is Sega we're talking about.
@@ians_parks That’s not a Sega thing, that's more of a development team thing. Sega or SonicTeam didn't make Sonic Colors Ultimate. My theory that Colors was originally a DS exclusive.
@@EternityVoid_ Its Sega's decision whether or not to outsource to a smaller studio or have Sonic Team handle the remaster. Blind Squirrel aren't programming in entirely new bosses if it wasn't requested of them by Sega. Its not their IP. The reason the game released in the state that it did and the preorder bonuses promoting the recent Sonic movie were all decisions by Sega.
@@ians_parks I know all that but Sega gave Blind Squirrel Games free range over the entire project & even had them to set their own release date. Honestly no one should expect them add that much to a remaster.
@@EternityVoid_ There are many different kinds of remasters. The straight hd ports, the attempts at bringing the game up to modern standards, the ones that add a plethora of new content. I expect the bare minimum of Sega/Sonic because they've never given us a reason to think otherwise with that IP.
Also Sega is ultimately (pun intended) responsible for the state Sonic Colors Ultimate releases in, even if Blind Squirrel themselves is an incompetent studio. Because Sega at any point during play testing could have seen the state the game was in and delayed it. They were never entirely hands off from the moment they chose to outsource to when the game was already on store shelves. They didn't find out at the same time as everyone else.
Sonic Adventure has such an engaging story and elite music... no Sonic game has touched me like that one. The final boss fight isn't even good, but the atmosphere is better than all others. The people screaming positive things. The backstory on Chaos. The setting. It's just perfect man. I wish they would just remake the Adventure games with better mechanics and graphics. Make it a trilogy or something with a new game to end it all. Sigh....

Sonic team really needs to bring back secret true final extra bosses fights for that what made Sonic games very special and unique. Hopefully Sonic Frontiers, but I doubt it.
I cannot express how much I hate the way the music changes halfway through the Perfect Chaos fight, why couldn't Open Your Heart just play the whole time
I think it should have been swaped after a short cutscene
To clarify open your heart playing second after the more dramatic one as he's now giving it his all
I think it would've been justified if the raise of tension called for it. Like, a cutscene breaking up the phases to let us know "okay Chaos isn't messing about anymore" then an actual dramatic shift in the fight would call for the music change.
This is my first time seeing Sonic rushes final boss. Quite a few similarities to time eater, even the finisher

With all the times that Sonic defeats universe-ending beings (pretty easily, it seems), it's no wonder Eggman thinks he can control them. He's smart enough fool Sonic...a lot...and even if he fails, Sonic will always be there to clean up the mess. The only time this seems to have backfired was in Generations when he and Other Eggman got stuck at the end of time.
It only backfired because he failed in beating Sonic, again. The times it actually backfired is in Unleashed and Adventure 1.
Sonic Rush had no business being that epic. Jeez

Sonic Rish was my first Sonic game.
Nobody ever seems to remember Sonic Battle... it wasn't the greatest Sonic game, but it was a nice little addition with some interesting story and (as always) great music... and I still remember the "oh shit" moment when I finally got the the Sonic Advance 3 extra boss (SO many chao), the music kicked in, and I realised exactly what it was I was fighting.
Man, I remember playing all these hidden bosses thru my childhood into teen and now adult life some of these made me rage as a kid 🤣🤣 broke a few controllers. Ahh, good times 🤔
Not gonna lie, I miss how Super Sonic's spines/quills looked in SA/SA2 over how they've been since Heroes.
Sonic heroes, shadow the hedgehog, sonic the hedgehog, sonic and the black knight. much can be said about some of these however you cant deny all secret bosses looking reminiscent of chaos last form from sonic adventure or just chaos like in general is cool and a nice nostalgic choice.
Metal sonic is my favorite secret final boss
Played the OG sonics but fell in love with Sonic cd and MetalSonic forging my love for the character and playing sonic heroes to fight his ultimate form.

Starting with Colors DS.
The only special stages I've ever been really good at are Sonic 3's. I've done most but 3's are the easiest to me.
Shadow the hedgehog is by far the hardest secret boss to get.
It really sucks that we haven't gotten a proper supersonic fight since sonic unleashed. Sonic forces and colors were good enough, standalone (not so much forces, but definitely colors) but what would have seriously left the players with a good feeling is a super sonic fight. Like a full color blast + super sonic, super fursona form, or even better retro super sonic and 3D super sonic together would have been EVERYTHING

I know Sonic and the Secret Rings is not a popular Sonic title, but you forgot Alf Layla Wa-Layla. In order to get to this final boss you need to collect all the seven "World Rings" and beat the original Erazor Dijinn's boss fight.
Merlina isn't a secret final boss as it's not required for you to beat all of the levels with all of The Knights Of The Round Table in order to unlock Dark Hallow so you can confront her.

these are not secret final bosses, but the true ones I do not know why they wrote that secret
They are called secret due to the fact that even though you beat the game normally, it's not straight-through, usually requiring the chaos emeralds in order to have access to them. In a way you could consider secret and true to be the same, it just depends on the person.
I don't understand how any of these are "secret" final bosses? These were all the intentional final bosses created by the developers and were naturally led into by the storyline
