NISSAN VERSA CRANK NO START AFTER PAINT JOB? BAD GAS?

- In today's video we take a look at a 2018 Nissan Versa with a 1.6l 4 cylinder engine. The owners complaint is that the vehicle cranks but does not start. The car recently had a paint job and that is when the problem started. Is the paint job related to the no start condition or is it just a coincidence?
Let's find out together!

The cat was the star of the video😀 You should keep him . When animals approach us like that, it means that you are a good person.
Cats always approach me and I think I'm a good person. 😂 This further proves that.
Absolutely!! He’d be a great mechanikitty!
I had a car that sat for a few months while I was working away. It started and drove but stopped after a little while. I ended up disconnecting a fuel line and I got the same stuff you did, almost all water. I ran the fuel pump till the water was gone and just fuel came out and reconnected and the car ran again. It seems like ethanol in the fuel had absorbed water during the warmer months and then when the car sat for a few months in colder weather the water came out of the ethanol and sank to the bottom of the tank and then got picked up when I drove it. I only drained about a pint of water but that was enough to have stopped the car running. It would had been interesting to see if you could have run the fuel pump a bit longer to see if that water was just a small amount that had settled in the tank. You might have got the car running again on the video.
13:25 the layer with the crap on top is the actual gasoline, it's the crap on the bottom I'd be worried about 😀
I think you are one of the better diagnosticians. Keep up the good work.
I hope you continue to make auto locksmith stuff. They're very informative and appreciated.
Love the cat diagnostics. I'm also surprised about the water in the fuel.
Thanks! Your the man brother as always on point
Thank you for your support!
I think this video covers a subject matter that is considerable and that is consumer protection.
If a vehicle is looked at by a mechanic and that mechanic finds something like this it Should be added to the vehicles carfax so that the consumer knows what they are buying. In order to prevent the dealers from selling overpriced garbage to the consumer without them knowing.
I was happy to see that your diag was also my first suspicion after going through the pids and cranking tests. Great video
I agree however anybody buying a Nissan versa particularly those with A/T are gluttons for punishment.
Don't worry about pouring it on the ground and lighting it with a flame. I had the same problem about a year and a half ago and I had the same results that you have. Thank you for sharing this with us.
It's about time you do another Diagnostics video. I'm a Locksmith so I'm not interested in that only the Diagnostics. But great video
Great job, Thanks for sharing! Don't worry Eric we trust you😀
Your channel is the only channel I set the notification bell for. You do great work and your explanations have helped me be a better diy mechanic.
Thanks
Thank you for your support!
Good diagnosis. Glad it was just what you found.
Hey, we are missing you and your videos!! Hope everything is well with you and your family!🙂
I always learn from your videos. Thank you so much for the time and effort to make them available to us.
We love the videos Eric!!
Eric I love your videos from Kenya I say congratulations
Great video. I just hope the cat found a home. My wife and I rescue them. Half the time we keep them. Thanks for Posting. I wish you lived closer
Sorry to see you go.
Looks like ethanol phase separation, not sure how that would have happened from having it painted, it can happen when water gets into ethanol gas though. Also, I loved the cats 😂
I bet it sat for at least a month, probably more. During that time the ethanol fuel separated. Does the same thing in small engines like lawn equipment. The new fuel isn't designed to sit for months.
That was the only year Nissan put a caterpillar engine in the Altima. They had issue with getting the cars to Purr and scrapped that joint venture with Nissan & Caterpillar.
Man, great diagnostics. Thank you for the video and for sharing.
Another great job from the teacher.
Glad you unloaded video 👍.
Just found your channel, you truly are a blessing 🙏 Thank you
Koeo flashing check engine light means it hasn't completed all the emissions monitors.
Those Assenmacher fuel line disconnect tools are the best.
Yes. I bought my set years ago when I worked as a tech at the Nissan dealer.
New subscriber and love your videos!
Any more videos miss them your a good Tech.
Definitely sounds like a fuel issue the way it tries to start but can't
Nice job, Eric…keep’em coming
I just started watching your videos bro. Where are u located my guy?
One other thing I would highly recommend a fuel filter too.
new car don't have fuel filters. Just a strainer inside the tank
Bad fuel, and a double Cat-scan always narrows down the problem🤣👍
Great video! Soon as I saw the fuel I knew!... Water ...might be from absorbed in tank in car or at station.. I have pulled many gallons of water out of boats that used ethanol gas E10... You already know fuel injectors don't like water! 😂😂😂
I think the car needed a cat scan😂
lol
Hey like ur channel. And a saw one of videos recently where u xplain that u being update ur self since last november and u beinh learning alot.. my quiz is what u do or where do u get mor e training on programing diagnostic and locksmith so u can share .. im a 20 year experience tech and only do diags,, i looking to get into programing,,thanx if u can help..
Great tool got the think tool one
Very informative, thanks for sharing
Great video i have kingbolen ediag mini it works great love it
Advanced level auto, Imagine for a moment, a video where you talk about the keys you purchased to get started with locksmithing, and the insane amount of views you will get for creating never before seen content, I cannot find a video that discusses this subject matter coherently.
My brother I would like to know where you are located and if you still do the work that you did to a Chevy 5.3 in one of your videos. Look forward to hearing from you.
Looks like our local supermarket fuel absolutely rubbish, share your pain with the cats I have 2 and always crawling over whatever I'm working on lol.
Keep up the great content 👌
Paint and body shops having hell with these cars today too. My daughters had to wait for someone to come program the abs module for a week. Car was painted and ready to go
Thanks!
I like that tool you have that’s cool
Got to love a cat on your fresh paint 😂
Excelent diagnostic
You are the best
God bless you
This dude's gone real high-tech with the CAT scan...
Lol. You stole my line.... 😅

OMG 🤣
Did anyone else notice that after 2:20, the check engine light no longer illuminates after that cranking? And even when it was shut off and turned back on multiple times, the check engine light never came back on? I can't be crazy for wondering if the issue with it is deeper than the fuel can I?
Looks suspicious, either the car sat for years or maybe intentionally sabotaged. Perhaps a faulty gas cap let in water during the paint preparation but highly unlikely.
I miss your videos. Maybe can you do what others do, hire a camera man, crank out a lot of videos and charge a monthly subscription, I would definitely buy it.
If you had the old OTC 7000 flush system, you could have seen the engine run without the fuel tank being connected. That actually worked when a vehicle had a bad fuel pump and you needed to get it in the shop.
That stuff you showed us didn't even look like fuel.
Oh well. Cats seemed happy with you there. Either that or their hungry and smelled food.
Good video.
I've used my fuel injection cleaner tool to run the engine before. It helps to eliminate a fueling problem during a diagnosis. In this case I didn't bring it with me and I wasn't near an air compressor. Thanks for watching!
What happened to that viper u were working on?
Boy I miss the old videos.
I know they dont make as mich but its raw and great. Like an artist first album. Then they sell out.
Unfortunately I haven't seen or heard anything from the car or the owner since I delivered it back to the shop. Maybe I'll look into doing an update in the future. Thanks for watching!
Love this content
My guess without having watched past the first cranks is that this is related to the battery being disconnected. Edit: Bad guess, not giving a further spoiler though.
I want those kind of helpers too!
hey how do you program a key on this model when your original key is lost. where is the factory pincode and how do you get that
Does a Pina Colada w/ out the hydrocarbons.
You need a cat scan before troubleshooting any car.
I too wonder why he's not made a single video for almost two full months. I hope he's okay.
YT isnt wort it anymore. It all was a covidddd boost.
Why did they pay for diag but not getting it fixed? Whats the point?
Gotta wear a labcoat when you do the science bits to make it official lol
I just had to resubscribe I wonder what happened?
Star of the video the cat
Cool you didn’t be mean to him and you gave him pets. He came right to you means your a good person:
So it was running, did they just drain and fill? Did they clean the system? You kind of had us hangin'. Or maybe they didn't tell you anything. Just curious of what was done.
Unfortunately they didn't tell me much. I wish I had some answers. Thanks for watching!
What kind of a shop can't figure out when there's gas with water ?
Estaa orinal ese escaner si abra solo falta ke aga el trabajo master
So did replacing the fuel fix the issue?
Yes
It looks like the tank sat outside while being painted and it rained
The Grandmaster !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder what happened did the varnish go into the car or what
I wish I had answers. Thanks for watching!
What website can I go to, to learn about key Programming?
They also have a you tube channel.
Uhshardware.com
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO Thank you
Wow man 😊
New favorite video.. 😂😂
Seems cat is not clogged in this car!! 😂😂😂😂
Your little friend is looking for the mice that are eating the wires
The diagnostic cat helped you
Good job done. Liked the cats.
Thats what ethanol gas does when it sits for a long time, all that corn turns into water and that's why you have water in the fuel especially since the fuel can't evaporate out of the fuel tank, an old car that don't have a evap system and a carburetor the ethanol gas evaporates out of the float bowls of the carb and the gas tank if sitting for long periods of time
How could I contact you if I need help with a vehicle?
I’d like the cat that’s cool
Looks like your CAT is good :-)
So best teachers
What's the cat hourly rate 😅
That’s was definitely ok to do
Grasias
Tried amazon link doesn't work
That's not water, that's cats piss 😂😂
That top layer was water I think
👍👍
You don't want a cat scan, he may find it faster.
Master cat want learn diagnostic
One cat liked his repair truck too, I think he could charge more for a catscan like they do in hospital. @@antoniorodolfo9805
If the paint was force dried in a paint booth the car was subjected to 140 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes, give or take.
The idiots who did the paint work appear to have been working on the vehicle with the windows open...lots of dirt on the instrument cluster and steering column. Under the hood too. Likely they had a 5 gallon paint bucket of "shop gasoline" all contaminated to use when cars come in with a very low tank.
Pcv hose maybe
The Nissan was getting a cat scan.
Doing a cat scan for you.
