Is it possible that the prelate at the immediate right of the Pope after minute 3:55 was simply a "prelato di mantellone", and specifically a chamberlain of honor "in abito paonazzo"?

Wonderful to remember the church when it was truly the universal Catholic Church. Why did they deny Catholics the pomp and ceremony of tradition. It had had meaning.

Which of the Apostles do you suppose dressed like this or was enthroned or attended like a monarch.
THIS is not tradition. This is the decoration added over the years from Constantine to when Saint Pope John XXIII convened and ecumenical council to determine where amidst all this puffifery the One Holy Catholic Church could be found. THAT'S tradition.

@@Xfranman and what exactly is wrong with the church enthroned and reflecting the glory of faith, which tradition did. Each movement, each piece of clothing, each physical piece of regalia from the crown to the fans, had either religious, liturgical or historical meaning. So called modernists confuse the ritual and pomp as being for the person, no, it is for what the person represents.
VAT II never dismissed tradition or Latin but has been used by modernists to create a new Protestant church that is no longer Catholic. Today so many Catholics no longer believe in transubstantiation or in purgatory or even in mortal sin. Today the church is in decline, few religious or priests, declining Mass attendance etc. the church argues it is doing well in Africa, but as a new religion competing with fundamentalist Islam and Protestantism. Compare this decline with the success of TLM centres and religious orders where the seminaries and churches are full. Look at the strength of those churches that have not thrown out their ancient traditions compared with todays Catholic Church.
As for not reflecting how Jesus and the disciples dressed etc. of course not. Jesus left a church triumphant to reflect his glory and the glory of heaven, the majisterium of the church.
The present pope for example claims to lead a simple life and lives in a hotel for priests, rejecting the papal apartments, which makes guarding him more difficult and more time consuming. He rules however as the most tyrannical of all the Popes, imposing his will to create his new church. It would be better if he lived in the papal apartments and cared more about the church that has existed for 2000 years. But sadly not the case.

Well, it's still the universal Church. The ceremonies are a way of honouring God and a display of faith. It's truly sad that we do not see these traditions continued, but it's faith that gave these ceremonies meaning and not the other way around.

The Catholic Church needs to be humble and poor as St Francis of Assisi stated when he was called by the Lord to repair his church. It is the path that pope Francis is showing us in order to live the Gospel as Jesus taught . It is not a matter of fashion show with such clothes and other things that in this 21 century has no meaning.

@@luisalbertorodriguezch3199 humility does not mean the ceremonies of the Church which reflect the Divine Mysteries must be bared of any beauty. On the contrary, they should reflect the beauty of God.
