Bucema is truly one of the greats. It's surprising (and depressing) how many of these sound fundamentals are missing from many gainfully employed pro comic artists today. No doubt the artists who get it paid attention to books/vids like this.
I bought my first ultimate spiderman comic when I was 6 and try to draw figures, vehicles like at the pictures. Now I drawing my sixth amateur comic at home. Thank you Stan!
R.I.P. John Buscema. I wish I could have met you. Also, Michael Turner. An awesome Artist who was taken from this world waaay too soon! I wish I could have met you guys and tell you what an inspiration you were to get me to start drawing all those years ago. Now I am a college art/design student. Someday I will have a published comic book to show the world! Rock On Artists! Rock On Forever!
I guess back when these were coming out, marvel was such a dorky thing to be into. it's amazong how it turned into what it is today (with the help of Disney)
@glassryu I do, haha, I mostly use them because they never get dull :D If I've got an idea I like to keep going, not stop to sharpen ): Especially because I like things to be detailed, which small lead is great for (:
@JakeFisher dont worry, just keep going, I bet your recent drawings are better than your first ones, so that's progress. If your not having fun, take a break, drawing isn't a chore, come back later when your in a better mood. Also there's nothing wrong with looking at a drawing and trying to copy it, its great practice, just don't try and take credit for the idea.
Loved the original book. I was shocked to find out that there was NO ACTUAL DRAWING in any of these videos. It's basically a narrated slides presentation, what a let down. I want to see Buscema do gesture drawings damnit!
Rip. Stan Lee
the best hero forever 😢
Rip John as well
Wakanda forever
And jack kirby
Godzilla:King of the monsters
Wakanda sucks!
John died in 2002
"It might take as long as 2 or 3 days before you are as good as big John"
yeah.. loooonger than that.
TheDilligan Yeah, like 50 years
No, in 2-3 days you can be as good as John was when he was in preschool
XiexCore hahahahha
Lmao
TheDilligan nope jim lee drawing joker and batman took 5 minutes

John Buscema style is still hip and cool to me today as well
Love these videos. I get inspired every time I watch them!
oh yes, so inspired!
Robert Marzullo me too
I came watching you dude
It's like Stan is afraid we'll forget it's a Marvel video.
A master and an amazing teacher. He's really helping me get better at my anatomy
I bought my first ultimate spiderman comic when I was 6 and try to draw figures, vehicles like at the pictures. Now I drawing my sixth amateur comic at home.
Thank you Stan!

10 years later. What's the name of your comic???
Oh Stan. two or three days. I've been at it for years and I'm not as good as John. :) I'll get there. Good luck true believers, and keep practicing.
Did you ever get there?
Stan was a genius. The PT Barnum of comics. Buscema was the man. A true artist.
Rest In Peace Legend!!
I bought the book about 10 years ago, I never knew there was a video.
Its even better watching the tutorial.
I love going back this video (or in this case, series of videos) because it reminds me to think simply and deconstruct my drawings.
i bought the book of this in 1987. brilliant.
i know it's kinda late, but what book is it? i rly wanna download it
+pio man the book is called the same as the video. How to draw comics the marvel way.
"Hey i didn't said wait all day"
Yeah, I laughed at that. XD
OMG hearing those sound clips from Amazing Spiderman\Spiderman and his Amazing friends makes me feel like watching them
Did he just call me a pilgrim...

Way to go! I hope to read it some time.
God Bless Stan Lee. He was a true Marvel hero. Long live the great Stan The Marvel Man.
Marvel before 2000 masterpiece but now in go for 2020 they are the best
Cool stuff. Super awesome.
Lol 2 or 3 days before you're as good as Big John! Has anyone ever gotten as good as him in the past 2 or 3 decades?
Stan's voice is so soothing
If it would take me 2 or 3 days to become as good as John, I may consider my self a fast learnin' man.
Stan Lee: go ahead, we'll wait for you!
Me: :I
Me: k i gtg eat
Stan Lee is my favourite but it seems like hes conceded but very modest also
u r so awsome i use to be bad at a drawing but then when i saw ur videos i draw every day now i am 21 i make lots of comic and books
Sharpen your pencils pilgrims!😄😂I'm taking it Stan probably had the shit kicked out of him a few times at school.
Marvel Comics has played a huge role in influencing my drawing style.
I guess back when these were coming out, marvel was such a dorky thing to be into. it's amazong how it turned into what it is today (with the help of Disney)
That's my new default drawing style
Cool, winter break is tomorrow and I wanted to learn this and I love marvel
2 or 3 days before you are as good as Big John

I cried for like 3 days when Stan Lee died.
you are the super hero
Thanks from Goiânia, Brazil!!
thanks i needed to see that
Thanks from Australia! :)
I draw manga, but I'm getting tired of it, I want something more...real.
So how did it go?
You're welcome.
Marvel vs DC heroism is like David vs Raphael heroism.
it seems best artists doesnt use basic rules anyways they can draw any figure in an instant xD
I thought at first Stan was going to say '2 or 3 years' which is more realistic.
Happy to share the ways to draw.
@glassryu Alot do, I prefer Mechanical Rotrinc 2B mechanical drawing pencils, I really need the fine point when sketching.
Nice
rip stan
Love you 3000
Omg 😫😫 I am so sad
Its not the way i draw but its still pretty awesome.
Happy to help.
thanks it helped me a lot!
nah, Rob Lifield needs to watch this.
these are hard to remember especially when you have other stuff important as drawing
AMAZING TNX SO MUCH
Loved the original book. I was shocked to find out that there was NO ACTUAL DRAWING in any of these videos. It's basically a narrated slides presentation, what a let down. I want to see Buscema do gesture drawings damnit!
I think Steve Ditko should have done it instead.

awesome
thnx this video really help me ;)
thanks for the post! :)
"Two or three days"....... more like decades.
@101Xtina You're welcome.
4:59 Luke Cage?
Now its getting kinda hard, I'll rather take a pic of the screen and colorovered at SAI, but NO, i'll learn this sht head to toe :D
@Cxeri93 If there is a new bad guy whose cool, I may check it out.
i got to 1:59 and its still working
@ENJ0LI Happy to have it up until Disney comes after me.
i like it but im only here for school
It's my idea or Stan Lee's cartoonist is a bit upset
Me too. thank you!
@ColtartX Looking over the video I found that the 360p setting is not working, change it to 240p or 480p for the video to play.
@Tarnationism As long as I don't get sued I'm happy to help.
i drew a hulk and a spider-man using these techniches
i can't draw like this!!!!
like stan lee says practicing and patient is the key, it tock me 4 years to draw like an amateur.
Aye Yuh Aye Yuh ....
Easy
Luke Cage !
Holy shit I just cant get it. I've tried countless times drawing a body but it turns out hideous and disfigured.
Step 2: Bridgman
Man, and I thought that I draw well enough...
You're welcome :D
@webfox100 lol. you'll be fine :)
