Oh Maggie how could you! I must have tried virtually every thread craft there is by now, but this is yet another I will have to add to my repertoire. Sigh, at this rate I will have to live until I am at least 150 year old. I just hope my eyes and hands can stand the strain! 😁😁😁
Hi Maggie, thank you so much for this exciting project and a chance to learn some needle lace. I have wanted to learn for years but unable to find a class or tutor in East Anglia in the UK. You are the first person that I have seen on youtube too. Great idea and will be a privilege to be a small part in it. All the best with joining the leaves together, brave lady. Thanks again Dawn
So happy I found you! I am one of those few guys who absolutely love anything textile and been meaning to try my hand at needle lace for a long time. You just gave me the confidence to do it! Many thanks for the brilliant tutorial, inspiration, and motivation! ❤ hugs from Provence
At 5 yo dad showed me how to work button loops on the edge of doll dresses. Tacking a thread in 2ply at about half inch space. Then making the button hole stitch evenly along the threads hanging over the edge so that it made a nice cord loop to slip over the button on the other side of the doll dress top. I had learned a fascinating trick to make my dolls dress stay on.
I can't believe I found you...!!! I was SOOO eager to start some needle lace but feeling slow and lazy to go back to my younger years at the convent working on Limerick Lace... So here you are with what I consider new and fun to learn... Your video is very good and you are quite a teacher...!!! Your instructions were to the point and clear... Thank you for your patience and your time...!!! I have subscribed and will start THAT something after watching your Part 2 video as soon as possible... Thank you again and Happy New Year...!!!
This is so very interesting. Your feed, came up on my suggestions and I’m so glad to meet you. Thank you for your lesson. You are a very good instructor. It will be so fun to see everyone’s contributions!
Wow thank you so much for this video. I definitely took the whole time to JUST MAKE MY BACKGROUND PAD AND THE BASE RED(black for me) but SOOOOOO SATISFYING AND yes! Straight forward. I am feeling so deep excited to learn about textiles and this is so affirming
From a very young age, maybe 5 yo, I have wanted to do all kinds of hand needle work. I saw a lot that had been made by my paternal grand and great-grand mothers. This sounds like a great place to learn. I have a bunch of vintage crochet thread in all sizes. I have white and ecru cottons at my elbow. Let's go!
not sure why this video popped up for me but I am glad it did….i watch crafts of all sort and have done bobbin lace many years ago….but strangely I picked up a set of lace doily probably for the dressing table at the local tip the other day and I didnt know how it was made…it has some quite solid areas and a lots of picots(? ) along the edges….watching this I think it could be needle lace
I’ve never seen a cordonnet couched like that before. Every time I’ve worked supported lace I laid and couched the cordonnet in the usual way. Interesting method.
I was trying to find out where to send the leaves because I just found out about this project and the time has already passed. Such a big project I wish I could have participated.
Hi everyone! You can download the pattern, plus pdf instructions from my website: www.maggiehenselbrown.com/community-lacemaking
