    I love it. I bought the same trailer on offer up for $150. I did upgrade to load range C tires for more durability, spray painted it black, installed an LED light kit, added a piece of plywood and treated it to waterproof it, added a tool box on either side to store straps and accessories, eye bolts in multiple locations for anchor points, and added 2 runners since all I haul is 1 predator PDL. Super lightweight and looks awesome. With that set up I can park close to the boat ramp and not have to park 1/4 mile away because of the trailer parking only. Also makes loading and unloading a breeze since I can back up into the water

    Love it Nick. I went with 4” as well. Only real difference is mine are spaced 15” on center. I’ll have to get those end caps though, I like how they caught the outer line even when you pitched the kayak low. Nice vid bud. 🎣

      The end caps make it really easy to load the kayaks. My approach angle was terrible and it still worked without any issues. I didn’t think to move the chair lol

    I had my first one for almost 10yrs. Hauled piles of rock, cinder blocks, sod, you name it. Pulled it from AZ to TX and then from TX to FL full of stuff and never had a tire problem. Just bought the new one at the Harbor Freight in FWB a couple months ago, so I guess they are selling them again if you can find them in stock.

    Nick, can you do a video on your way of securing the yaks to the truck, without a trailer? I brought mine out last week and I was really struggling on how to secure it without breaking handles and such. I have the Vibe Sea Ghost 130 most of the handles are rubberery and move. I have the same trailer as you and I did mine the same way as you. But I am not always taking all of the kayaks, so I can throw it into the bed of my Silverado and go! Great vid as always

    You used regular wood screws to fasten the cross bars into the 2x4's that are in the stake pockets, right? How about to secure the stake pocket 2x4's to the trailer frame? Same bolts and washers as everything else? You used the same type of bolts on the pvc as you did the 2x4's? I heard you say pilot bolts but not much came up when I googled that.

    • @NavarreKayakFishing
      @NavarreKayakFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thomas, I did just use regular wood screws. Nothing fancy. When I said pilot bolts I just used 4” bolts and washers. Same bolts everywhere. Nothing fancy.

    Great video Nick. I've looked at several other designs using the Harbor Freight trailer and yours is the simplest (and probably cheapest) of any of the others I saw. How is the tongue length on the trailer with the length of the Predator? Do you feel it is too short or no problem the way it is? Just ordered 2 Sportsman Bigwater PDL yesterday so going to Harbor Freight today to get started on the trailer.

    • @NavarreKayakFishing
      @NavarreKayakFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the tongue length is great. It will cause some issues backing the trailer in initially. Once you get use to it you won’t have any issues though. The short tongue makes it possible for me to store the kayaks in the garage and that was my goal from the start.

  • @WilliamSmith-xb1fr

    converted a jet ski trailer for a single kayak. removed the wood bunks and replaced with pvc to fit my first kayak which was a f&s shadow caster. just ordered a sportsman pdl120, hopefully will just have to adjust my bunks when it come in. how do you tie yours down? I used a ratchet strap but was scared of putting too much tension and warping the hull so I ended up not using enough tension and the strap jumped off and I drug the SC down the highway about a half mile before realizing it

    Can you turn as sharp as you want with it like this? Im ready to add the runners/pvc and trying to figure out how far I can extend them past the 4x8 frame before I start have a problem. Ive been using this to haul the predator xl mk but it's been in the center. Now I'll have the xl mk and a pdl 120. About how far do yours extend from the frame? Really worried about backing up and letting it turn too sharp without noticing.

    Sure am glad I saw this, I have the same trailer rigged up for one 2016 predator xl mk with one pair of pvc in the middle. I just ordered a sportsman 120 pdl, should I move the pvc to one side and put a sheet of ply down for the sportsman? What do you suggest? How about when I venture out on my own, could having one kayak to the side cause problems?

    • @NavarreKayakFishing
      @NavarreKayakFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thomas, we use the trailers all of the time with just one kayak on them. The 120 would do good on a flat surface and I think the plywood is a good idea.

    How do you attach the PVC to the wood supports?

    • @NavarreKayakFishing
      @NavarreKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I drilled holes through the pvc and wood then used a bolt/washer on top and washer/nut on the bottom to secure it.
      I used a hole saw bit to make the hole on top of the pvc larger so I can easily push the bolt through the bottom of the pvc and wood.

      @@NavarreKayakFishing I get the low budget build concept and everything. One of the reason why I am watching these videos. I no lawyer, but you telling people these “loophole” like removing vin numbers, your experience driving over 80mph on 45 or so rated tires have encountered no problems may be good and dandy when thing are fine, but it will catch up with you. When it catch up with you, people may get hurt. And if that vin is just a stamped piece of placard, then why remove it.

    • @NavarreKayakFishing
      @NavarreKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tires are rated for 45MPH with a full load. (I think it’s 1500 lbs)
      If it’s not for you it’s not for you.
      It may not be legal where you live.
      Good luck in your trailer search.
