Born & raised (until 21) in Monroe Louisiana. Learned French in school by Canadian French teacher. I was so disappointed when I met an elderly Cajun & couldn't communicate because the language is NOT close enough to what I learned in school. I always believed Cajun and/or Creole should be taught in schools, not Canadian French or France French. I wish I could've learned both Cajun & Creole. Now I'm in Ohio... don't ask. I miss hearing my home state.
