    Watching a man take the same photo 12 times..... Well, we watch because it's not as boring as you seem to think. I imagine that most of your viewers are photographers and most will see the effort you put in and the enjoyment you get from it, probably like most of us do in varying degrees. There's always some little nugget hidden in the content and it's always worth watching. Thank you.

      I'm not really a photographer, but I am outdoorsy and Thomas does a great job of scratching that outdoorsy itch. It's just the really down to earth atmosphere and attitude. The photography for me just goes to emphasise the appreciation of the outdoors and the landscape.

    • @Jeff-jg7jh
      @Jeff-jg7jh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NeoLithiumCat I took ten shots of the same little bush this morning. It was a little tough and the shot that I was happy with I am not longer enthralled with. I may go back out tomorrow. It's fall after all.

      I too will happily watch 12 shots of the same scene. I've learnt so much from his videos and watching his thought process. The other week I went out shooting in some fog and I swear I could hear Thomas's commentary in my head. Took my best shot if the year.

    • @jeffslade1892
      @jeffslade1892 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, using a digital camera we can take hundreds of shots of the same scene, all of them rubbish. With film you have to engage the thought process. Planning a shot is rare for me too, like when I've seen a view and thought 'if the sun was there and ...' and so the cliffs across the valley were lit perfectly in the early morning. And then the developer lost the roll of film.

    It's so awesome your wife understands what you mean by light. My friend and I had a huge fight when touring a city because I was explaining light and losing shots at the speed we were going of walking. He didn't understand just because the sun is up, doesn't mean I will have the right light for hours.

    The final image you showed, which you thought was closest to what you were trying to achieve, in places could easily pass as a painting..Being a landscape painter that plays around with photography, it's that type of image that always gets my attention. So that's intended as a compliment, if I didn't say it clearly enough.
    So I've picked up lots of tips & tricks after subscribing to your channel for the last year or so. Especially in the area of composition..

    Another great video and good to see that you made it back to this spot. I agree with your comments about opportunistic photography, and I have much the same approach to shooting whatever catches my eye, with the occasional planned image outing where I have a specific image in mind that I want to capture. As an amateur photographer, I've also used up entire rolls of 120 on a single shot as the light is changing and by bracketing. You're certainly right about that being expensive photography, but it's easy to get caught up in the moment.
