Yeah, males tend to love loud noise for some strange reason. That's why all of my friends got deaf meanwhile.

You are one bad ass modeler, no doubt about it. I'm 56 and still building models myself. Nothing like you do, mine are plastic kits, but they're still just as fun as the first one I did as a kid.
Thank you for sharing your passion and your video!

I can tell you're a really kind person and you really do create magic! And your right about not letting a part of you grow up. I'm 59 year's old and I love miniature worlds. I've built plank on frame ships, monster sculptures and even built a moonscape compound for a friends untitled amateur sci-fi film. In a way I'm a lot like you because when I start a project I'm completely obsessed and please don't talk to me while I'm working because I'll loose track! And to all you guy's and gal's out there that hooked up with an artist and suddenly figured out that we're a little different, keep this in mind.... When we're working, we're not ignoring you. It's just that we've so much ticking upstairs and allot of us have trouble focusing if we're distracted.
You fell in love with an artist because he or she is different so don't try to take away the driving force behind what you fell in love with.

As a prototype developer that built car parts from scratch for a tier one supplier for the big three, I can assure you....he didn't build all those so quick. Him and his team, maybe two other guys did.

Kitbashing. Taking parts from tons of different model kits and integrating together to make new pieces. Usually surface detail, or some sort of unique item on the object. For instance, in the film Alien the modelers kitbashed tons of Star Wars kits for the surface detail and various other objects on the oil refinery Nostromo, as well as many other ships.

You RULE! Thank you so much for posting this. I'm an old guy but after watching this, all I want to do is go build a miniature - and blow it up! One cool thing about the computer age is that we now can hit those high speeds necessary to make miniatures look right when you blow them up. I have a Sony camera that can hit 120 fps and an iPhone that can hit 240 fps. When I was growing up, I bought a Beaulieu Super 8 camera that could hit 70 fps. What I didn't know was that it killed the camera in record time. I destroyed it just shooting tests for the real models I was actually gonna blow up. Thanks for bringing back those memories and your models are amazing!

I built a 1:60 scale model of my sister’s house for her to give her husband as a Christmas present. It’s accurate and to scale, but after 5 weeks doing a few hours most days, I still wasn’t finished and had to hand it over without some of its roof. If this guy can build what he says he can in the times he says he does, I am floored. Genuinely impressed. Like.... depressed even.

Great stuff Markus. I might be 58 but I don't feel that old. I think it's got a lot to do with my maturity. Many would say I'm not mature but I don't care cause what I do I love doing. I may not be the smartest of men but who cares. I'm happy being who I am and that's all what matters to me. My life is my life and I don't have to live it the way others might want me to. I try to look after my health as good as I possibly can and with that said, I thank you for a lot of the health tips you suggested especially the colon cleanse.
Anyway, back to being a kid. I think people who think about life too seriously are the ones who grow older before their time. Life to me is ment to be lived and so I simply do just that. I work, eat and sleep during the week and most weekends I have to do what I want. I also love keeping my mind active as I need things to do all the time, creating things, coming up with new ideas, etc..

One observation (only watched this episode as yet!) - I couldn't help noticing how the side light you used in the garage helped to show the great textures in the model...

Frankly, I'd much rather watch excellent model work like Mark's than CGI any day, and I find more and more that there are a lot more people like me. In fact, most people who "prefer" CGI don't actually prefer it, they're usually just millenials who simply accept it because it's what they were born into. No computer cartoon, no matter how beautiful, can match an actual, solid, 3D existing object.

    • @DoctorShocktor

LGTV Stick Absolutely wrong. This type of sculptural and architectural talent isn't contained within any software, CGI or otherwise. This artist builds with his experience and imagination, and he doesn't know or use computers. Also, CGI takes immense amounts of time to light and render each scene. With a physical model, you can change lighting, add effects like smoke or fog and shoot a set up in minutes, shooting many different angles in a day. CGI would take days, weeks, even months sometimes. So no, CGI is another and different method, it does not replace this in any way.

Markus, You are one Bad ass SOB. Freaky Skilled and Raw Talent. I went to Art School for Graphics and Illustration and later got into making Train Layouts and Dioramas. Now with 3 sons, I have them learning and they really want to get into Model Making for movies etc, but not sure where they should start. Any schools, etc that will give them the education they need to get into this. Thanks...SUBSCRIBED

+SMS CUSTOMS No schools that I know of, I just started making things when I was a kid and got better at it over the years. Remember back in the 70s, boys used to glue model airplanes and cars together? Nobody does that anymore. Now its all just cell phones and video games

That's not true, there are far more model builders today than in the 70's. and nowdays its not just practical model building there's digital models too. Tools and techniques are changing and with 3D printing becoming increasing affordable many more practical models are being made.

I built models in the 70s and still do, now many I design on my computer and 3d print like my humanoid robot Dave.
