Always love these cut-through-the-bs type vids! The random nitty gritty stuff is definitely key to getting the most out of any product and you guys have been working with 360 cams for long enough to know how to overcome or embrace the limitations. Awesome!

@@JakeRichandAnnaChah when I get another cam, it’ll defs be a 360! Had my eye on one for a while, but unfortunately it’s not in the budget atm haha! Will be interesting to see if GoPro gives things a shakeup with the Max 2. Definitely a great tool for the travel bag, especially for solo stuff!
Hey Bro, loved the video on the Insta360 X4! Your tips on workflow and shooting underwater were super helpful, especially the bit about keeping the camera close to the subject for stitching. Those travel shots were epic - definitely makes me want to get out and explore with a 360 camera myself. By the way, those presets you gave away at the end are awesome! Thanks for sharing them

Do you get distortion if you film underwater near the beach if you dont have on the dive case? Just using the protective lenses
Thanks for the great video. We skipped the x3 (had x2), but now loving our x4. now if only insta and DJI would get the DJI MIC 2 to work with x4 and still allow 32bit float recording in Bluetooth mode.

Great video ! What do you prefer the Osmo pocket 3 or the Insta360X4 ?
I haven’t tested the pocket 3, but they are very different offerings, I guess if you want to go swimming with your camera that would be a big difference between the 2
Love. your video. Do you shoot in Standard, Vivid or Flat?
We shoot in standard colour mode, we've found that vivid is too saturated and flat is harder to get really good results with colour grading. Standard has some great base colour and good enough dynamic range to improve with colour grading in post
Nice starlapse. Did you use the preset settings or did you customise.
For starlapse custom settings are always preferred, switch to "Manual" then set ISO 1600 - Shutter 20 or 30 seconds (the darker the night the longer the shutter), white balance; Auto
I appreciate the honesty of the videp. I have a GoPro Max when I render the video out to 16x9 or 9x16 it's not 5K. So whats benefits of 8K when most people are not posting 360 videos? what's the video size when exported to 16x9 like this video, is it closer to 4K?
The benefits of 8K are that you have more pixels to work with, so the shots are (in my opinion) much crispier, you will be able to use more of the content because there are simply more pixels capturing more information in each frame, so when you come to reframe you'll notice the difference. In 8K, if you zoom in to a portion of your sphere, as shown in the hot air balloon shot, when zooming into the balloon in the distance, that is a clear benefit of filming in 8K. It's kinda like the benefits of filming with the 8:7 aspect ratio on GoPro 11/12, however this is a 360 shot and just a much bigger sphere. For everyday users they won't notice the difference, but for editors and content creators these small changes make a big difference in the quality of your content. Just like in GoPro "Player" when you export you choose the frame size, the same goes for Insta360 studio, if you filmed in 5.7k you can choose 3840 x2160 as your export frame and the export will be 4K
Without zooming in, do they look much different to your eyes ? Should we stick to 5.7k ?
@@ramusgaming2592 I can't tell the difference on my phone. I appreciate Jakes answer that it give you more room to punch in. I get that. My question remains, is $500 worth 8K vs 5.7K when exporting it out to to 16X9 or 9X16. Instagram and TikTok only will take 1080p so for me 5.7K will do.

Good day Jake. How do you get high video quality in post-production? I have the X3 and in my settings I film in low sharpness, but I don’t like the quality at all when editing. How can I improve this?
Try medium sharpness, make sure you’re filming in sunny lighting, and export in PreRes from insta360 studio and colour grade in your editing suite

Maybe this is a very dumb question but here goes.
Is it possible to shoot with the 360 X4 in such a way that the footage, even if work is needed in post, can be made to look like it was shot on a non-360 camera?
Of course you can render the 360 footage to be "less fish eyed" or you can use single lens mode and shoot in a narrower field of view but it kind of misses the point. This is 360 camera for the purpose of capturing immersive action, go with the a point and shoot style vlogging camera if you don't want the footage to look wide angled.

My question was in relation to whether or not the Insta360 X4 could be a "do it all" waterproof action camera option for me thus negating the need to take a huge array of different cameras with me on my upcoming solo sailing and cruising/sightseeing adventures.
I do not plan to indulge in or shoot activities that would place the X4 bubble lenses at any undue risk.
I already have an Air 2s and my trusty Canon 70D.
There's far too many reviews of the X4 that Insta360 have paid for. Claiming you aren't paid while getting a free camera is disingenuous. If you get a free camera it is a biased review and ruins your credibility.
