- This is what you can expect when you run your Tech 21 Character Series box through an amp. It's not bad but I think I'd prefer to use it direct to house. Whatever. Tell me what you think.
Great demo. It's surprising (and frustrating) how many people who demo this pedal ignore the tweed character side.

Hi, great Demo - excellent soundexamples, good playing too! The most instruktive soundfile to be found in the net. Just ordered one cause of this file and your other direct-in demo. Going to use it on my pedalboard in front of my boogie-combos, marshall-tops and for studio and will let you know how it works.

One very interesting thing to note is that in a video somewhere around here in TH-cam there is a guy who has fitted an outside switch for deactivating the speaker emulation, and when he switches it off and connects to an amp, there are brilliant sounds coming out of it...
I am so glad I found you again. I have been looking for your reviews. You are usually very impartial and on the money.
I`d now checked it out in front of my two JCM800`s, a mesa combo and a superchamp - it takes time to find a real good distorted leadsound or a smooth tubealike rythmsound, but it works - if you find the right settings it`s much better than i.e. average boss pedals.
I also own a Fulldrive 2 and have a high amount of gain when using the vintage position, the full boost in mosfet position and a 18V power supply.
You know whats crazy? That little girl should be now ready to graduate college. Damn, time really does passed in a blink of an eye.
Cool demo. It looked (and sounded) like this pedal has a lot of tonal variety with all the knobs. I think that is cool. Prior to this, I've had a couple of their pedals (XXL and CompTortion). While I generally like Tech 21's stuff, their previous pedals were a little hit and miss. This looks to be way more hit than miss...great vid.

I have got TRI-AC which plays beautifully directly to the house.
GREAT Demo. Man, these Character pedals are amazing. What a wide range of sounds. So, you're going through the front-end of your amp? I read a review in Guitar World recently comparing these "Character" series pedals, and the guy said that he was having trouble with the Blonde, specifically, going through the front end. Really does depend on the amp, i suppose. I just ordered a "Liverpool", so i'll be seeing how that one stacks up. Thanks much, Andrew B.
I think it sounds great both ways..to me this has more of a open airy tone as oppose to the direct way....which to me is more compressed in sound,,,I guess it depends on the player what his ears wanna hear it......I like it this way personal perfect as far as I can say....great demo's by the way....peace

I think that Tech 21Blonde sounds better when its used direct to the house.
Hi im using a Marshall MG15CDR and a Gibson Les Paul and Tech 21 California and really liked your demo on the Tech Blonde and was asking if it would work through my amp because i like to play Ted Nugent a lot thanks for your time

They do - but finding the right settings is a bit difficult, the controls are extremely sensitive.

are you going through the FX loop or after the preamp? Do you find that this makes a difference in tone? Does the particular amp you use make a difference in tone or does the Blonde kind of do it's thing regardless of which amp it is?

@Burgerman666 sounds like fun man. Yeah I've seen a bunch of your video's so I was just curious. I'm a big tech 21 fan myself but I'm more into the rackmount stuff personally. We have been trying to figure out a way to get a decent clean sound out of the peavey 5150/6505 series. Was thinking maybe running this pedal through the FX loop might do the trick. Any opinion?
Are you running it into the preamp input on the amp or the effect return? What do you think of the blonde for getting a good jazz type tone? Great videos? Your my first choice for videos on guitar stuff.
Hi, thank you for all your great demos! I have a question on the Tech 21 TRI A.C pedal. This pedal seems to offer three amp mods. Would be good for gigging. Did you also test / tried the Tri A.C ? Can it be compared to the other tech 21 amp sim pedals? Thank you
It lacks the spark of the real thing. When used before an amp, it doesn't perform that well... direct, they are very good, and they can be carried in a bag as an emergency backup to a tube amp that fails! But I can't decide on which one to buy, I like them all! (except the Marshall one)
Do you own all of those pedals? Makes me regret getting rid of mine. I could have opened up a pawn shop.LOL. Sounds great. Rock on!

I've been wondering precisely the same: are these pedals any good for tube amps? I have milked the most tone using them with keyboard amps with a wider freq range & flat response... But i wonder if setting everything as flat as possible (no gain of course) you could use it with a good amp with lots of headroom & clarity... Thes SC pedals have this "HUMP" (in a nice way!) don´t they?

Do these pedals fit good for gigs ? I've a collection of amps for years and wonder how to keep a maximum of tones with less material and think of the Blonde, the Liverpool and the British straight into a Fender The Twin Amp...
Wonder if these tech 21 pedals "eat" distorto pedals the way an amp would?

How does this pedal sound at low amp volumes?
I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb and at 22 watts, it's a bit loud for the wife and babies at night! Keeping the volume at 1 is far from the amps sweet spot and kinda thin sounding. I was hoping I could plug this in and get some decent tones without having to crank my amp.
Mark DiSciullo I play a Tech21 Sans amp from the RK100 fly rig through my Fender Blues Deluxe and it sounds great through that amp. It’s like a really thick, hot overdrive pedal and mixes well with it. I’m sure it would sound great at bedroom volumes although I haven’t gone that low.

what does the "speaker sim on/off button" do?
for plug in. headphone or Mixer. gives the 'Jenson" speaker sound. i like it. but sounds,a bit fake.
