Remember how over Malakai Black was until Cody jumped up seconds after taking his finisher and beat him, thus killing all of his heat? So meta
In Cody's defense on that he lost every single big feud in AEW besides that one and Malakai is someone who rarely if ever loses or agrees to lose plus the HOB did decent after and now kinda dead
Cody is gonna go down in history as the GOAT he understands pro wrestling better than anyone I've ever heard

guess you haven’t heard many then… rock, hogan, cena, taker, flair, hbk, edge, even guys like jericho, Daniel Bryan/bryan danielson, and aj styles who are known for their non-wwe work… then sleepers/under-appreciated guys like orton… rhodes is not in that tier let alone better than those guys

Yeah, there's a reason why a lot of his AEW work has been disregarded, and considered to be in his own little "Codyverse", and not a part of AEW.
AEW was at it's best with Cody, he was at least willing to take a loss when it built something. The Elite always end up on top, no matter who they face
