Elliott its always a pleasure to have you on, I find that your reviews are how a normal person would tackle it, which I enjoy. The car, looks like a lowered SUV that's Mercedes E class sized. Positives are decent sized boot space, nice cockpit layout and sports seating. 700km range but I expect it'll be less. I like the design language the brand has adopted. The negative, I don't like electric doors- a waste of precious weight and unnecessary energy consumption, plus another thing to maintain or break. Like most other EVs, all it needs is just cruise control, sat navigation, a few helpful apps heated seats and aircon, everything else is a drain on the battery and the pleasure of driving manually.
Yeah the comment about 21" wheels being 'performance' made me chuckle... and I'm not sure what defines a 'hot hatch' for an EV - ICE vehicles typically trade off economy etc for responsiveness and power - but EVs get both those in spades by default, so is it just suspension tuning? 'sporty style'? ability to switch off various assists?
No where near a hot hatch... it’s Tesla Y/Mustang elecy size... also will def will not be 30k, need a manufacturers to build a Mk1 ‘elec’ golf size car..
I'd be interested in seeing how the "base" version drives. It would be RWD with a smaller battery so might be well under 2 tons in weight, perhaps 400 kg lighter? That might be the most fun to drive version. Maybe they could make a stripped ultra light version as well. They own Lotus after all, just have them tune one for low weight.
Another excellent new EV and I agree with you that it's good to see manufacturers moving away from just producing enormous SUV models and starting to produce smaller family cars ........ that can go like stink! I reckon this could become very popular in those markets it's available in. The shape seems very similar to the recently announced Kia EV6 ....... which I think looks fantastic. The GT version of that may be beyond my budget but it's a great looking car that's very well equipped, has great charging speeds and really moves the development of EV's forward. I also couldn't help but notice just how quiet the ZEEKR 001 was.
Electric doors? FFS. More unnecessary BS that eats electrons, adds weight and isn't needed. This trend in adding crap to the standard cars to increase the profit margins is getting tedious.
Looking around me, people would embrace anything to save them some effort, or increase the comfort...making them less human in the process....but hey, I can’t judge this now, give me 10 thousand years to make this clear.
This feature is really only for cars that wish to excel in minimizing air drag, and that's what EV manufacturers really want to do to make the car just a bit more efficient. But I do agree that on regular SUVs or something this feature makes no sense.
Great video! The car looks really nice and it’s probably well built. Only drawback is that typical Lync&Co front which many of us have been seeing for quite a while now on WTCR... but for everyone who doesn’t watch that, it’s nevertheless a refreshing front end
I like it - and I think they seem to understand that any performance EV will need fast charging if it's to do track days, though I doubt that 120KM range in 5 mins is 120km at track pace (if the can have good linear brake feel with strong regen then that will help a lot). There's no doubt EVs can do one or two fast laps, but I haven't seen much serious discussion about a performance EV that could do a full track day - which in an ICE car would generally start around 10 AM after a safety briefing, warm up lap, 3-5 full tilt laps, cooldown lap, come in to let the car cool down for 10-15 minutes, repeat until lunchtime, stop for lunch for an hour, repeat all afternoon tl about 4:30. I'd be really interested to see if someone will crack this - without unduly shortening the battery lifespan either, so would love to see you revisit this or a similar car later for this sort of test. I think what's generally missed in the conversation about performance EVs is raw numbers aren't going to win over people who want proper drivers cars. 0-60 in 2 seconds, nice party trick, but who cares outside top trumps. It's not how fast you go, it's how you go fast. Some of the most fun cars are relatively slow - what we care about is 1) is it fun! (good steering feedback, you can easily adjust it's angle mid corner, etc.) and 2) can I hoon it all day without breaking it or cutting my day short because I've used all the electrons.
Flying around the corners - with 777k subs in the seats - in a car that aims to be an ICE Zeekr missile....What a great way to spend your day, Elliott...

OK, I think when most people use the term Hot Hatch they're thinking of something SMALL with performance. This is a good looking car with a hatchback and supposed performance - but it's 5cm less than 5 metres long... that's a foot longer than a Porsche Macan (which I think it bears a resemblance to), and more than 2 foot longer than a VW ID3. It's the same size as my campervan! Nice review, terrible click bait title......(Which Fully Charged has now changed)
What I like about the camouflage is that the regular pattern makes it really easy to see where the shape changes are making it easier to see what it looks like than a regular glossy paint job. 😂
Invaluable having him there, detailed review that doesn’t hit you with a load of figures. China are going to take over the EV market if the build quality is good. There so confident there letting people drive it - Lucid could learn a thing or two. Is this actually coming to Europe.. ?
Promising looking car. I am amazed EV manufacturers haven't looked at the hot hatch segment before. Range isn't an issue: you just need to be able to drive from your home in your mum's house to do doughnuts in the local supermarket car park.
Maybe if you’re willing to literally sit on batteries....or drive in a sleeping position.... Jokes aside, I think the electric Mustang is a car for any sort of drivers...sporty, roomy, nice (or not offending to some pedestrians, like the stinky noisy gas Mustangs).
To all that are saying that it's too up scale, too much range, too big, etc. I think they're trying to follow the Telsa model. Announce a big splash product to get a bunch of attention and prove that they can make a highly desirable performance vehicle. Then they'll go down market with the hype they get from this car to help boost the brand image. Hopefully that next product will be a good one for the masses.
The 4WD drive version with air suspension is very comfortable. Steering and overall handling feels great as well. I don't think there is any EV car at this price level (360K RMB) with such notable features. My only complaint is that both test drive cars had Akebono brakes which were screeching at low speeds.
@@henrikmanitski1061 But what will it actually do in the real world? Geely own Polestar and claim a WLTP of 470 km/292 miles for the Polestar 2 but it cannot actually come close to that. Real world range for the Polestar 2 is about 260 km/160 miles on a 5°C day and maybe 350 km/220 miles in Summer at a speed of 113 kph/70 mph. That probably represents a 17% improvement in range ie equivalent to Tesla Model 3 in range but still not the performance to match the MP3. Should have had that tech in the Polestar 2. What will be interesting is if Geely sells the Polestar 2 AWD for £50,000 and will sell the FWD car for £40,000, then Geely might market the Lynk/Zeekr AWD at £40,000 and then the RWD version at £30,000. This could match the Tesla M3SR+ for performance but undercut it for price and, as we all know, the M3 cars built in China are a much higher quality than those thrown together in Fremont.
'quite a low car...compact hot hatch?!' ...says 6ft guy with 1 ft headroom...and look at size of rear! - compact hot hatch is a Fiesta / Focus ST...this is the Routemaster version?
Very interesting. The actually car itself doesn't interest me hugely, however the fact that we're starting to see these 'smaller' and hot-hatch electric cars very much does excite me!
This seems like legitimate rival to the very recently debuted Kia EV6. The proportion also eerily similar. Kia also got the top of the line GT version that can do 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds. Anyway glad to see EV got more competition, just wished the car has wider availability.
That is a fabulous looking car! We definitely need more EV's like this, no more SUV's & hideous crossovers please! I for me am interested in the EV! How much & when is it available? Great video, thank you!
Lynk&co, the former name of Seekr was already advertising in Europe since late last year. They already have a full dealer network in place since the parent company Geely owns Volvo
This is the Lynk & Co prototype based on Zero Concept and indeed a very exciting and highly anticipated car. Is it too much to ask Fully Charged to apply correctness??? Lynk & Co indeed is older than "a week ago" (2016) ... Our friend Wikipedia; "Lynk & Co is a Chinese-Swedish automobile brand owned by Geely Automobile Holdings. Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2016, its cars will be positioned between those of the Geely brand and Swedish brand Volvo, which was purchased by Geely in 2010."
A 21 inchs wheel look like this doesnt seem to be small car. And the inside is way more spacious than a Civic or Imperza. I think this might fall under Gran Tourner catagrory like ferrari FF and Prosche Panamera
1) How is a key card a 'unique' feature? 2) Alcantara is made from Polyester and Polyurethane, how is that not plastic? 3) How is this not an CUV? Why is an iPace or Bolt, not a hot hatch?
@@OrangutanSquash We need to wait for Jonny to be able to test it for having a real review. But this is still more like a review than Robert reading the specs without any comment.
I don’t get why Geely needs another brand. They already have a big and diverse portfolio: Geely, Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Proton, Lynk & Co, LEVC, 1/2 of Smart…
Looks very nice but it‘s to large for a hot hatch. I would really love a small electric hot hatch for me it wouldn‘t even need any gimmicks like self opening doors or self driving capabilities. Makes it lighter and hopefully cheaper. Alternatively Cupra is free to release a road version of the awesome looking e_racer.
Good point about the Jag looks. iPace but not an SUV. But not, IMHO, a Hot Hatch. Looks about a third as big again as a Golf GTI or my CRX so maybe a nice saloon along the lines of Tesla Model 3. Nice car though. Now...if somebody was to make a two seat, shorter wheelbase and put the battery behind the driver and passenger - then we might be on for a realistic hot hatch.

yeah they were developing it under the lynk & co brand the whole time until like a week or two ago, they somehow decided to make it a new brand lol
On the wheel hubs too
@@jchrisssinshs5058 they made a new brand so they can sell it online only to cut the dealers out
Thank you for bringing new tech wherever it is happening.
It reminds me in profile Jaguar I-Pace which is a compliment.
Yep, iPace mostly with a Mach-E rear end.
Or KIA EV6
21 inch wheels..electric doors 2 tonnes..hot hatch it is not..Still looks quite good,it just needs to be 30k to be a hit
Forthcoming mini JCW/GP2/cooper electric will be the first me thinks
30k? Not a chance. With the size and performance it’ll be at least 40-45k.
Polestar 1, Lynk & Co 01 and Zeekr 001. All the first cars from new Geely sub-brands, designed in Göteborg, Sweden. Anyone spot a pattern here?
The Chinese camouflaging their product so no one steels their ideas 😂😂😂😂 oh how things change
no, it's because they copy everything, independent of their understanding
Nah, they saw the camo and copied that as well.
They assumed it was meant to look like that.
No, because they're better than anybody else now
Better than anybody? LOL, yeah if u ment copying

Awesome little hatch. Nice review. Keep up the good work.
It’s better more than Kia you can go China see
I think the statement "there's no plastic in this car" maybe needs revision! A slight overstatement but I think we know what they mean!
It's a "must have" feature in China and Japan and is very common over there.
@@evilutionltd Do their arms not work properly?
@@xxwookey they do not reach and drag on the ground no. Unlike Trump supporters :)
Look at you! Went a long way since the videos from China. Pleasure to watch!
beautiful, and sporty. love the lights all around the vehicle. i would love that for sure. cool.
Flying around the corners - with 777k subs in the seats - in a car that aims to be an ICE Zeekr missile....What a great way to spend your day, Elliott...
Elliot and team: This was just a perfect presentation in quality and mix of facts and entertainment. Thank you!
what facts?
@@ursodermatt8809
1. Boot space 2144 liters with the rear seats folded.
2. 700km NEDC range (so probably near 600km WLTP)
3. 0-60mph in 3.88 sec
4. 4wd
5. Over 2000kg
6. Automated doors, front and rear

Great content, great presenter in my top 2 presenters on this channel 👍
OK, I think when most people use the term Hot Hatch they're thinking of something SMALL with performance. This is a good looking car with a hatchback and supposed performance - but it's 5cm less than 5 metres long... that's a foot longer than a Porsche Macan (which I think it bears a resemblance to), and more than 2 foot longer than a VW ID3. It's the same size as my campervan! Nice review, terrible click bait title......(Which Fully Charged has now changed)
unfortunately...the reviewer believes it...
Maybe chinese "politely" asked him to believe this product....
Looks like a modern fiat coupé. I like it!
Agree, its DRL looks like the Fiat Coupe.
Nice to see a different market segment addressed.
Charge on!
I think it looks great and it's not an SUV so even better!
Another Chinese brand called Nio has already landed in Europe. It also has a Formula E team.

Great review Elliot 👏👌 and wow amazing to see what Geely are doing .
Nice. And it's another high performance not cheap car. We need affordable, long range cars with fast charging please.
Hopefully this car will be available in Germany soon! This could become my next car and first Chinese one ever.
Yay, this is the market I'm in ... the sooner the better for these cars at a reasonable price and I'm all in.
Seems like you have so much fun lol great video but sure we will have to wait a long time for it in Australia
. Still waiting for ldv Van's.
Promising looking car. I am amazed EV manufacturers haven't looked at the hot hatch segment before. Range isn't an issue: you just need to be able to drive from your home in your mum's house to do doughnuts in the local supermarket car park.
Hopefully it’ll be priced to compete with current ice hot hatches.
That sit in the same traffic jam that I sit in.
@@andyphillips7435 😆 🤣
sod SUVs, bring back the hot hatch!
Maybe if you’re willing to literally sit on batteries....or drive in a sleeping position....
Jokes aside, I think the electric Mustang is a car for any sort of drivers...sporty, roomy, nice (or not offending to some pedestrians, like the stinky noisy gas Mustangs).
I would have more fun in the current e Corsa. Nice car and hot. Can open your own doors and boot.
Manufactures- nah, we just make SUV look like hot hatches instead!
THREE DOOR hot hatches! I don't want back doors, I want bigger front doors!
What is a hot hatch?
To all that are saying that it's too up scale, too much range, too big, etc. I think they're trying to follow the Telsa model. Announce a big splash product to get a bunch of attention and prove that they can make a highly desirable performance vehicle. Then they'll go down market with the hype they get from this car to help boost the brand image. Hopefully that next product will be a good one for the masses.
How the electric doors work at narrow parking spot, when there is cars parked next to it? Does it always bangs the doors to other cars?
Very interesting - Geely comes powerful!
The 4WD drive version with air suspension is very comfortable. Steering and overall handling feels great as well. I don't think there is any EV car at this price level (360K RMB) with such notable features. My only complaint is that both test drive cars had Akebono brakes which were screeching at low speeds.
Totally digging the wrap.
very TopGear style! especially the intro
Looks promising. Hope it comes to the UK!
Are the headlights visible from the drivers seat so you know where the corners are?
You would imagine that since Fully Charged were invited to see it, that it will be.
UFO spotters?!
honestly i doubt the 700km, but even 500km would be good enough ... hell, in Europe even 300KM+ is considered good
They use NEDC in China, which you might conclude stands for Not Even Darned Close.
EPA range of 490 km, WLTP range of 548 km
@@henrikmanitski1061
But what will it actually do in the real world?
Reminds me a lot, conceptually speaking, to the new ionic 5 and kia ev5.
Looks more like the new Volvo c 40.

Nice, UK and right price please lol.
Nice to see how this presenter has developed. Not so long ago he seemed like a deer in the headlights, but now he has confidence
This seems like legitimate rival to the very recently debuted Kia EV6. The proportion also eerily similar. Kia also got the top of the line GT version that can do 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds. Anyway glad to see EV got more competition, just wished the car has wider availability.
I agree it looks a lot like the Kia EV6 from the side. Hopefully a lot cheaper than the EV6 GT is going to be in the UK, which starts at 58,000 GBP.
Awesome 🙌
I just wish that the Lead-esque lights were removed.
I think the lower light bar and grill gives this car a really distinctive and tasteful look.
How will those doors work in a car park with not a lot of space between cars?
err, ..badly /expensively
I'd actually like it in that camo paint job.

The frustration is not knowing when these cars will ever make their way to Europe, or even venture outside of China. Review, as ever, is great!
Lynk&co, the former name of Seekr was already advertising in Europe since late last year. They already have a full dealer network in place since the parent company Geely owns Volvo
Ah. Not the part of Europe I find myself in at the moment. I can hope.

Brillant Review! Thanks
It really does have the size of a Panamera.
1) How is a key card a 'unique' feature?
2) Alcantara is made from Polyester and Polyurethane, how is that not plastic?
3) How is this not an CUV? Why is an iPace or Bolt, not a hot hatch?

I don’t get why Geely needs another brand. They already have a big and diverse portfolio: Geely, Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Proton, Lynk & Co, LEVC, 1/2 of Smart…
Looks very nice but it‘s to large for a hot hatch. I would really love a small electric hot hatch for me it wouldn‘t even need any gimmicks like self opening doors or self driving capabilities. Makes it lighter and hopefully cheaper. Alternatively Cupra is free to release a road version of the awesome looking e_racer.

@@iowgtr Yes This one just looks awesome I hope it makes it into production and somehow gets to be affordable.

Ooh! - sarcasm.......!!!
I'm kinda confused, it looks like a Lynk & Co so why make a new brand for it?
Its kind of how Chinese companies operate. Just like in phone industry, dozens of brands owned by few big companies.
