Thank you so much Amanda for your amazing channel,it helps Us a lot as a domestic helper that cannot communicate well with our employer, who are only Cantonese speaking, keep it up Amanda!I give you my salute!More power to you 🤗!
Amanda, your teaching style is quite professional. you say that you are a flight attendant. do you have other professional like teacher . you are teaching like a professional teacher even better than some of them :) thanks for your videos.
As a really good mandarin speaker I can hear the difference even between 1 3 and 6 even though mandarin only has one flat tone which is high but I si not hear any difference between 2 and 5
Excellent lesson as always - thankyou! I spent ages trying to get Google translate to understand me saying jat1 baak3 man1 jat1 ding6 gau3. After many many failed attempts I realised you and Google both pronounce gau3 as gau6. So as soon as I tried with the lower tone, Google correctly recognised what I was saying. So I wonder if Jyutping is wrong designating gau as tone 3?
It's really tone 3. When we speak, the difference between gau3 and gau6 is very subtle as we also have our tone of voice. Try to compare old 舊 and enough 夠. Then you can tell the difference. 😉
@@5minutecantonese I have copied this to Google Translate and asked my wife to speak those words. Even listening over & over again, I can't tell the difference!
@RussellCatchpole It’s exactly like how we struggle with the "r, n, l" in english(for beginner as adult, not kids) . It might take sometimes. But once you get it. It will stay forever💪🏻
Another excellent useful lesson! 一定, so that’s for conjecture right? Like guessing assuming? Can I say it for like: You must be tired You must be hungry That must be really difficult
Mandarin speakers always say 多喝水 or 多吃菜, with 多 in front of the verb but in Cantonese you put 多啲 after the verb. That is the biggest takeaway for me personally.
Very clear and enough practice ♥️
Thank you very much 😊

Can I say it for like:
You must be tired
You must be hungry
That must be really difficult
yes, you are right, similar as English
❤❤❤
😊
I think it’s so funny how the Cantonese measure word for money is 蚊 which means mosquitoes in mandarin
Because it's a borrowed word for it's pronouncation
