    I think that Murphy never liked that people confused his on camera 'comedic being' with his real much more sober and reflexive personality. It's to his credit imo. I remember him going on Howard Stern, everyone expecting him to goof off completely and finding it difficult to get into Stern's early reality TV-style silliness. It's no surprise he chose for early retirement out of entertainment, and became a modest family man once he could afford to do so. (the movie 'Pluto Nash' def helped him make that decision :) ) Axel Foley is timeless though. Much love for Eddie Murphy.

    I love Eddie so much he is one of my top 3 comedians ever. My mom had all his cassette tapes back in the day and I would listen to them when she wasn’t around and laugh hysterically. I’ll say I was in the 6th grade or so. He’s been my favorite ever since. Even as I grew up. I still love all his works. Job well done Eddie. Let’s give this man his flowers 💐 👏🏾 🙌🏾🫡

    As soon as the journalist said he loves Bowfinger best it all came full circle and a light dawned on me. This journalist sounds exactly like Eddie's geek white guy impersonation and bowfinger (the character) and Steve Martin seem just like the type of characters this guy would identify with and relate to.

    I hate how Eddie has become lazy and scared. I remember back in 2019 when he started working with Netflix and he was saying he would return to stand up. But I think he's right about covid. It warped life for us all. But he says he likes doing nothing and that ain't healthy. And he said he refused to run down some steps while shooting Beverly Hills Cop 4. Not even just move a little bit quicker. He said "don't call me with anything you wouldn't offer to Morgan Freeman. Morgan was 63 in like 2000-2002 and he was still doing action stunts and running. Movies like 'Along Came A Spider'. I love Eddie and look forward to BHC4 and more projects. But I hope Eddie Murphy finds his passion for comedy again and realize doing stand up isn't a step down or a veteran going back to the front lines. Kevin Hart is the modern day Eddie and still does stand up. Eddie doesn't have to tour. Any streaming platform would probably offer Eddie Murphy $50,000,000 or more right now for a hour long stand up comedy special

      You write as though you know him, and what may be his physical or emotional challenges. You don’t know the things he doesn’t reveal to the public, stuff he went through, whatever. He has every right to steer his own course. He’s given plenty, got rewarded for it, and can go his own way. He owes you (and the rest of us) nothing.
      When most of us do a job, we don’t see the response plastered all over the world, we don’t have millions of people talking about us or criticizing what we do. Maybe wealth and fame didn’t bring him peace. If you haven’t walked in his shoes, you don’t have the right to say what he should do (unless he breaks the law).

    • @nickbarkley1391
      @nickbarkley1391 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Historian212 I can appreciate your comment but that's the difference between entertainers + politicians and the rest of us. They exploit themselves, their career and business. As a historian you know this based on the many people recorded throughout history. Regular people don't get recorded as much unless they were FAMOUS for something they did or said.
      I don't know Eddie Murphy personally but my comments are based on the information he has provided. And my logic is sound. They're going to do a Beverly hills cop 5 and he is reluctant to skip a step or 2 down a small stairway at the entrance of a building. This interview was a revelation to his fans, that he isn't exactly the superstar you thought he was. He refrains from challenges, he's not physically active sitting on the couch all the time (his words, different interview), he considers stand up comedy to be beneath him by saying him doing it is like a Colonel or General going back to fight on the front lines. I don't need to know to him personally to reiterate what he said himself.
      And I think the rejection of stand up pisses me off the most because while his acting in Netflix's 'You People' was good and the movie as a fun drama was good. It just wasn't funny. I'm praying that's not the case tomorrow when I watch BHC4

    Eddie has little to no understanding of the history of Black Hollywood. He wrongly thinks that somehow he invented or created it. He’s mistaken. And he’s still got a chip on his shoulder about criticism of any kind.
