On the Day of Judgement, your wealth and your children will be of no benefit to you. The only one who will benefit on that Day is the one who meets Allah with a pure heart. Allah says: يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ 'The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children. But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart.' [Qur'an 26:88-89]
Allah the Almighty has praised a Muslim who strive hard to make his heart clean, by staying away from envy and the act of cheating his fellow human beings. This, undoubtedly shows the importance of the purity of the heart in the life of a Muslim. Therefore, the characteristics of a Muslim who is having clean and pure heart within himself could be stated as follows: He is the one, (1) Who used to advise his Muslim brothers. (2) Who wishes good for them as he wishes for himself. (3) Who struggles for their benefits. (4) Who defends them from being harmed. (5) Who rejoices with them when they feel happy. (6) Who feels sad whenever they are sorrowful. (7) Who loves for them whatever he loves for himself. (8) Who dislikes for them what he dislikes for himself. (9) Who deals with them as he too wants them to deal with him. Taken From: The Importance of the Purity of Heart By Dr. ‘Abd Al-‘Azīz b. Fawzān Al-Fawzān
