Literally about to say the same thing. 2 former champs duking it out. Also I know Cody gets no love lately (pun intended) but he’s been having a lot more success lately and he’s still very entertaining to watch definitely shoulda bumped Bo to the early prelims imo
I’m confident Bo will get the belt in the future , just not anytime soon . He should also chill on calling out Khamzat. Based off the Craig fight His stand up game just isn’t there to go up against Khamzat. Just give the kid some time and it will be .
I don't really agree. Theres some sort of misconception that bo nickal is like a raul rosas jr level prospect when in reality hes 28. He's realistically only got 7 years of his prime left and he may not be good at all until he's 34 or 35. I think he'll be a top contender, but I doubt he'll ever be good enough to develop into a champion, especially with how mediocre his wrestling actually is.
@ really ? You think Rosas has a better chance at achieving the he belt ? Interesting. I don’t think his wrestling is mediocre at all. He didn’t use his wrestling against Craig because his Bjj is way better then him and didn’t want to get get caught in anything. He learned his lesson when he grappled with Ryan Gordon. His hands are decent and he has power to take people out but they arnt top 10 caliber just yet . With his work ethic from wrestling his whole life I see his striking getting a lot better by 2026 . Like dude said in the video , he should take his time with unranked guys for a while and then he’ll be solid . Can’t rush him like they did Northcut or Shabazian.
@@lmao-bw7ob”especially with how mediocre his wrestling actually is”. Yeah you are a moron and no one worth their salt would take you seriously whatsoever.
You can’t learn, Savage, mode! You either have it or not. Bo, is a penn state head coach. He will be done with ufc end of 2025. He’s famous words, I am wrestling everyday, with the best wrestler in the world. He needs to get out of the foo, foo gyms.
The thing about guys like Adesanya, Strickland and now Bo Nickal is that they talk a lot of shit and consistently under deliver. They are the common denominator so of course they’re going to be blamed for having boring fights.
Agree with your list, but Sean handles business. He is pushing the pace and willing to die on his feet. That said, I did have DDP at 3-2, but if you say it was Sean at 3-2 I wouldn't argue it. The problem is, after Khamzat's last performance, how can you deny him the next shot? Even DFP says after that Khamzat is next. Props to DDP, real champ shit there.
The problem with BO is that to get experience you have to fight, and he has said that he ain't figthing that much. He isn't willing to fight that often.
I think Bo only looked bad in light of his insanely massive hype .Think about it, the freaking President of the United States is talking about the guy on Joe Rogan's podcast. That hype is quite rare. If you look at him without the hype, yeah, it was a clear win. But still, is it a guy who is going to be challenging for a world title? Honestly? I don't think he ever will. I was quite surprised to learn that he's 28 years old. I thought he was closer to 24. At 28 years old he's going to be entering his prime within a few years. His performance here against a, let's be honest, lay-up opponent was really underwhelming from a technical standpoint. Paul Craig is not a world class guy. He is a figured-out fighter. Striking-wise I don't think you'll get a lower-level guy who is serviceable and has some name value in there. Bo, to me, reminds me of a Mark O. Madsen. If anyone is wondering who that is, he was an olympic level wrestler who transitioned into MMA at a relatively late age, had some decent wins in the UFC but ultimately lost two in a row and called it a day. The similarity are striking, because you can tell that Bo does not like getting hit. I think the contrast between killers and athletes is really good in this context. Bo is an athlete, he is not a killer or a fighter. His reactions to getting hit are just so fundamentally amateurish. He flinches everytime someone throws a strike at his head. He also just lacks fundamental skills to an extent where I doubt he'll ever get there. He doesn't jab, he doesn't throw in combinations, he doesn't cut off the cage. He doesn't really do these things that you'd classify as high-level. Judging from his fight with Craig, I doubt he'll even make it to the top 10, but maybe I'm putting too much into one mediocre outing. We'll see. I just don't remember Chimaev having this limited a toolbox at any stage of his career, or any of these top guys for that matter.
Bo was scared of getting triangle choked.......... He literally lost his last grappling match due to triangle. He doesnt have the confidence to take him down. He doesnt have killer instincts and confidence like Islam and Khamzat. He was scared to lose infront of Trump. He was scared of losing to Submission again.... Khamzat would of taken him down and submitted him. Islam would of jumped on any opportunity of getting top position.
People blame bo because he talks this big game and then fights like that. Pitter patter jabs to get decisions. How do you think khamzat fights paul? You think he gives a shit if paul has good guard. He walks in there and finishes him round 1. Bo rn says he beats all the division on his podcast. Paul isnt blamed because he doesn't talk shit about being an elite fighter. Bo even blamed dc and rogan after saying they have no clue what they were watching...i mean this guy has a stick so far up his ass his feet isn't touching the ground anymore. Calls out top guys then gets criticism and hides behind " I dont have that much experience doode im a rookie"
one note about the danger paul craig's guard shows, i believe bo has faced good grapplers even earlier in his mma training, notably gordon ryan who he lost to but also another top no gi guy (forget the name) with no special rules and he never got close to being finished. given that i think he couldve went to the ground, since both guys by the nature of their sport are orders better than paul craig (whose only subs are the armbar and triangle)
Bo as an All American wrestler did not attempt a single takedown is a big reveal he is overrated😂 yeah UFC should fed him easier opponent let him grow his striking and polish his ground game
He knows he could have taken him down, he was just trying to see if he could win a fight using only striking. It wasn’t good looking, but still impressive considering he’s a wrestler. If he can keep that level of striking and then reintegrate his wrestling, he will be top ten material. Not to mention how much more potential he has.
@simplymax2125 man come on, you saying it's part of his game plan? his striking would be so much more effective if there's takedown threat like his previous fight. He just too afraid to take Craig to the ground.
I was in the arena for his fight and I was very frustrated with his performance because there was a lot more to be done imo. I think bo could’ve used the opportunity to work on his boxing in the mid range and maybe mix his wrestling a little bit. I’m a fan of bo and want to see him do great but he’s clearly not ready for top competition he was noticeably uncomfortable in the midrange and didn’t punish Craig when he was up against the fence. I’m not asking him to be Michael chandler I just want to see some effort to push the fight against a guy who isn’t really a threat standing. Bo should take this time to work on his boxing in a boxing gym and become middleweight topuria he has the potential to match his game to him.
Honestly, while i get that people wanna see high octane finishes, spinning elbows, crazy suplexes (i'm kinda the same) i first and foremost watch the UFC to see what the pinnacle of martial arts looks like. That's what the UFC is all about, to find who's the best, by being a huge melting pot of every fighting style under the sun (barring weapons basically, and a few moves like headbutts). And if the best way to win is to take it slow, to smother opponents with wrestling without necessarily going for a finish, to be conservative about your approach to striking to inflict more damage than you receive, im all here for it. I'm honestly glad i got to see Bo against someone more of his caliber, and how he would approach an opponent he can't just steamroll over. I'll still appreciate the crazy lead axe kicks from Jhonny Walker, the spinning [insert any name of striking technique] by Michel Pereira, or crazy knowckouts by people like Topuria, Gaetje or Aspinall. But if that's all i wanted to watch, i'd watch the WWE, or a Michael Bay movie, not the UFC. But i wanna see what the best fighters in the world look like, so here i am. And i hate it when people start booing because the fight isnt a mindless slugfest. I understand it to an extent, but i hate it.
As someone who is a retired fighter, the best fighters in the world go for the finnish they aren't timid they are going to fight from bell to bell and are willing to take risks to end the fight... a great wrestler doesn't just hold you down and smother with lay and prey they pin you down and beat your face in, a great boxer doesn't nick nack patty wack give a dog a bone he knocks you tf out with clean combos and those who know fighting is about fighting are not going to be impressed and get bored, i have a submission wrestling and kickboxing background i enjoy good grappling as long as they are active and trying to finnish the fight, i can enjoy when a guy is doing the "hit but not get hit" type thing but you have to show you are fighting to win and not just fighting not to lose

I feel like Izzy’s situation was a little different, given he’s a counter fighter, why in gods name would we expect other fighters to fight in a tactically bad way against an opponent just for entertainment. “Why aren’t you walking into Izzy’s traps” we might as well say. So yeah if you’re a counter fighter you kinda have to have at least a few ways of generating your own offence, cause anyone who has your number as a counter guy is gonna be pretty gun shy. Also yeah, entertainment is bunk as a factor in mma imo. It’s almost exclusively a criticism against grapplers which just shows that folks have a knowledge gap that they’re rushing to move past.
Adesanya is not a counter fighter... Occasionally he counters, but most of the time he angles off and resets. Izzy is a technical point fighter who manages range extremely well to the point where his opponents can't reach him without being reckless.
