- I cannot believe I have a high school SENIOR in our homeschool this year! There are many things to organize and do this year to prepare for my daughter's graduation and applying to college. Today I'm sharing some of things on that to-do list and our plans as we prepare for what will be a very emotional year!

You are so beautifully authentic, thank you for sharing it all! I have a special needs kiddo entering grade 10 and there is so much you have opened my eyes too! Thank you.
Tip: before you have her apply for outside scholarships, contact the school financial aid office and make sure that those scholarships won't reduce the school financial aid package. Many schools calculate your expected family contribution and then subtract any outside aid from their side of the balance sheet, not yours. For example, if school costs 20k and your expected family contribution is 10k and she gets 5k in outside scholarships, the school will reduce their aid package to cover the remaining 5k. I have not been through this yet, but have read a lot about it!
I'm with you. My oldest son is 17. We always knew it was coming that one day they would grow up, but man it goes by so much faster than we anticipate. And just when we raise them up to be the kind of people we actually want to hang out with, they leave us! It's so hard.
Same ❤. DD just got accepted at Ole Miss. it’s a tremendously emotional time over here. We are in Colorado. She gonna be far away. And honestly - we are considering moving closer to the university. 🎉
I’m pouring showers with you too, Abbey. I have only one child that just started her junior year, and I have cried already in many occasions just thinking that we have four more years together. 😢
Thanks for sharing!
God Bless!!
My oldest is a junior, and I am so overwhelmed by the emotions from what is coming! He is working for the first time this year, and our school year is already looking so different.
I only have one child, a son, who just started ninth grade, and I’m already sad thinking that we only have a handful of years left. 😢 It goes by way too fast!
❤ ❤❤
Getting ready to send outs off 9.5 hrs away…
Our TIPS: get POA healthcare/ finance ( mama legal bear) that way you can be her voice if she’s injured, pay her bill if she can’t etc…we got Venmo put on her phone(you don’t have to attach bank acct but we can dump money in it)
That’s a great idea about the healthcare POA. I had not thought of that but I’ll add it to my list!
We use hslda diplomas.
