Hi Angela, should I be changing my stated career goal in my mba applications depending on the school? For example, while moving into investment banking appears to be a reasonable goal for exiting Columbia, it does not seem ambitious enough for Harvard (and only a small percentage of their graduates go into investment banking, despite this being an option to them). Really appreciate your videos and would love your advice. It all makes me wonder if I should just say I want to do consulting!
Hey! In short..... no! For a couple of reasons: (1) starting from a position of saying what you think the school wants to hear always leads to boring, uninspired essays, but more importantly (2), you are going to business school FOR something - THE GOAL COMES FIRST! The schools you apply for (if any) should stem from that ☺ The right school for you >>> rankings.
Hi Aman, Angela here. We edit these videos very consciously to circle around an issue and approach it multiple ways because different people hear things differently, and we're giving everyone a chance to follow the reasoning and make their own conclusions. An 11+ minute video which could have been a 2 minute video. Please spend some time on editing. A lot of the info is repetitive and redundant.
Hi Aman, this comment could have been much shorter!
