    The Varnus Organ Hall needs your help. We are asking the community's support to restoring and operating Varnus Hall, Canada's only private organ concert venue owned by Xaver Varnus, to provide a worthy home for organists, famous artists and young talent alike, from around the world to perform, and broadcast their concerts online. We are grateful to you if you can help our work with any donations. ca.gofundme.com/f/fundraising...
    Recorded live at the Organ Inauguration Concert in the Palace of Arts in Budapest on June 4th, 2006. The organ of the concert hall has 92 stops and 5 manuals as well as 470 wooden pipes, 5028 tin pipes and 1214 reed pipes. The extensive intonation period of the organ lasted 10 months. It is one of the largest organs in Europe. The instrument - built under the cooperation of Pécs Organ Manufaktúra and Mühleisen Orgelbau Stuttgart - was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by leading figures from Hungary’s art, economic and political scene. Tickets for this concert sold out a year earlier, in less than thirty minutes. Filmed by Mate Vargha.
    Xaver Varnus' first piano teacher was Emma Németh, one of the last pupils of Debussy. He has played virtually every important organ in the world, including those in Bach's Thomaskirche in Leipzig (2014), Berliner Dom (2013), Notre-Dame (1981), Saint-Sulpice (2006) and Saint-Eustache (1996) in Paris, National Shrine in Washington, D.C. (1985), and Canterbury Cathedral (2004), as well as the largest existing instrument in the world, the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia (1985). His Quadruple Platinum Disc winning album From Ravel to Vangelis (SONY, 2007), is the best-selling organ CD ever. As a Canadian citizen, Xaver Varnus resides in Berlin and Toronto. "Put simply, Varnus is a monster talent, every bit as stimulating and individual as the late Glenn Gould" (The Globe & Mail, Canada's National Newspaper). "He is one of the most influential figure in organ music in the early twenty-first century." (Mark Wigmore, The New Classical FM, Canada).

    Please don't forget that Xaver is re-reading the Adagio. He can and must play as he feels the music for himself as an artist of the Organ instrument. For me, his performance is remarkable. Congratulations Xaver, I am, for sure, a "Xaver Varnus addicted". From Brazil, JAL

    Look at the audience as the camera passes over them. Music played like this from a giant pipe organ is surely enough to stop most mortals right in their tracks. Just watching this on my computer from home with my humble little speakers, I was able to feel the power and emotion of every note. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be there and hear it live.

    Thak you very much.
    This is my first time to encounter the music of organ.
    Listening your music, I was staying in Heaven.
    I felt like that my soul confessed all my sins and sorrows to God and got into peace.
    My soul was baptized and fullfilled with
    your music.
    Once again, thank you.

    How some humans put dislikes on the performance ... ? How this century’s old historical, magnificent soul comforting creation of music, and of extreme talent, can be not loved or even liked? It’s absolutely not necessary to see this as burial anthem at all. This master piece brings you clearance of mind, and peace from worries and demons, and stress and think of life philosophically.

    • @julianronneberger3850
      @julianronneberger3850 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well absolutely like the performance. But it's actually not centuries old, as it is not really albinoni but Remo Giazotto who composed it. (allegedly on a albinoni fragment) published in 1958. Doesn't matter, still beautiful. And maybe you know already

    • @Engineer9736
      @Engineer9736 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, pipe organ recordings on TH-cam sound much fuller than the actual instruments in real life are, including this one. Probably because you do have a volume control on your electronic device which you can crank as far as you like. The real instrument doesn't make the earth thunder like that ;-) Still nice to experience such concert for real, it's a cultural event. And a nice thought that the sound you hear there is true acoustic natural sound. No microphone and amplifier characteristics and DACs and ADCs and possible digital filtering involved.

      I've just found this amazing talented organist and like you I am now hooked. There is something completely addictive about the organ but I mostly only heard hymns being played. This is an entirely different ball game so to speak and this man brings new life to what so many view as an outdated instrument.

    For me this piece has always been about confronting, contemplating, and coping with grief. It is comforting, knowing that one is not alone with the experience of loss. All of us will experience that some day. Someone (Albinoni) felt the same way 100's years ago and expressed perfectly the time-transcendent feelings which we might experience in this life. The piece and performance are utterly exquisite. So cheer up kids. Hard to believe, but time time will heal all wounds. After a while, they will be in the distant past, and not thought about on a day-to-day basis. But I lie. Every other day I miss Chico, best dog in the world, everybody loved Chico, he was my soul mate. He was a rescue American Staffordshire Terrier/ Pit Bull rescued from North Philadelphia, Erie Avenue SPCA. Surrounded by a bunch of fawning kids at a farmer auction, Cheeky had a big smile on his face. THESE DOGS SMILE! Never found a two-legged version of Chico, my soulmate stupid sweet dog. But, the bottom line is to be thankful for the blessing of having that dog in my life. Albinoni sure sums it up.
