    Nice video man! Did you see that Skrillex officially announced on his Instagram that he's going to be doing livestreams on Twitch very soon? It's going to be so sick to actually have him guide us through his creative process. So freakin' pumped for that!

      Hunter White I saw that, but didn’t think that ment production, thought that ment just livestream a DJ set. We can only hope so tho.

      @@OfficialAHEE It seems like he was talking about production, especially considering he recently did some production on his Instagram Live where he was just making a song and showing a bit of his Ableton as well. He seemed to like that and by what he was saying he said that he wanted a "better setup" for doing exactly what he was doing then, which was producing. You may be right, but I'm really really hoping that it's production haha. Would be insane!

    Hey Ahee, could you do a video on song structure and developing an idea, I can make cool 4,8,16 bar loops / potential sections to a song but then don't know how to develop it or make it a complete interesting song

      boomin not sure what you’re question is. The translation to English is fully accurate. But I use Span everyday for several years now. You can download it for free by Voxango. I have several tutorials about how I use it. ✌️

    I use span now and it definitely heps. Even just to figure out which frequencies are harsh and need cutting or boosting a frequency according to the key of the sample.

    AHEE, can you make a mix-down tutorial? Like suggesting where the db levels should be before limiting for loudness for an optimally clean mix. And how loud do you push your gain and where to in PRO-L2 when limiting after that?

    • @OfficialAHEE
      @OfficialAHEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sharkus I was hoping to answer that exact question with this tutorial and my “Is Mixing more important than mastering” video. Because I ignore all the db levels, that’s the point. Opposite of what I was taught as a mixing engineer at school. I learned this way of thinking from Bassnectar’s Mastering engineer. Just the whole mentality that certain elements should be at certain dbs is what I’m trying to teach y’all to avoid. It’s definitely not a beginners technique. It takes time to develop, but if you practice the technique in “The Best Mixing Advice I ever received” video then you will learn from experience how to balance the volumes naturally. Practice practice practice! ✌️👽

      Official AHEE yah okay. do you just really just mix as loud as you can then and just make sure you’re not clipping? Because I’ve heard that you can’t mix too loud like that or else steaming services will limit you and mess up songs. Thanks for the content btw, I love Starbreak off the new EP!

    Yo Ahee. Got all your racks and template. Super helpful. Do you have a tutorial on using span to separate your low end? Got a glimpse in this vid but that's the one thing I always struggle with getting right in my tracks. Like the main synths/sub. Thanks.

      Hey thanks man, I tried to answer that question starting at 14:17. :)

    • @phantom_him
      @phantom_him 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OfficialAHEE Yeah, thanks mate. I watched the whole video but a couple of questions: how are you getting such a clean looking duel harmonic on the sub and B how is that 200hrtz freq not fucking with your main bass when you only have a small dip in the eq in that range on your main bass? The only way I can think of getting that duel harmonic like that is having two subs in a group and pitching them differently for example. Or are you automating an eq to make it that clean looking when the notes change? Thanks again.

    • @OfficialAHEE
      @OfficialAHEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phantom_him to get the clean 2nd harmonic, just take a sine wave and distort it then low pass it till it's just those 2 frequencies ;)

    Hey bro, noticed u left ur original bass freq above 110 hz on your main lead (in the drop) and also had your 3rd harmonic on the sub, wouldnt those frequencies clash? Should you not cut your main lead freq under 300hz (or whatever ur 3rd harmonic peaks at)

    Hey Ahee! Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Liked and subscribed. In one of the videos you said many producers have snare hitting +10 or around. I was thinking how they get it down after when exporting the song? The whole mix would be way above 0 in DAW, so are they just throwing a limiter after soft clipper. What's the trick here? Thanks

  • @flatmoontheory
    @flatmoontheory 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey AHEE, thanks for the great content.
    How do you end up choosing your drum samples? I see a mix of Veng & Cymatics ect... Do you use a 128 during the writing process (ala Ill.Gates), to just find samples that work? Or just pick them randomly and work with them ect? Any advice?
    Thanks! Dr.N

    • @OfficialAHEE
      @OfficialAHEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use basically anything that I think will work, it's taken a while to find out what does and what doesn't thru trial and error & listening to a ton of other producers tracks. I love some of the Vengence & Cymatics stuff, tho I also make a lot of my own samples, and I'll find things on Splice that inspire me. I'm planning on making a tutorial on Sample selection at some point. In the meantime just carefully listen to other producers tracks. :)
