I love Ozona it’s my 2nd home I can’t wait to go soon for thanksgiving this will be the drive I take but from San Bernardino.
texas is #1 period and i live in the midwest
What I find crazy about this drive is the fact that it's so far between Ft. Stockton and Ozona, you NEED a decent amount of gas before leaving Ft. Stockton or you will NOT make it to Ozona. As far as I know there's no towns or decent refueling spots in that 100+ mile stretch.

Yeah if you leave El Paso in the morning at like 8am it will take until the midday to reach Ozona like 2 or 3pm
I drove from Del Rio to Tucson in one day, but I took US 90 to Alpine, then north on TX 118 through Fort Davis. If I ever drive between El Paso and San Antonio on Interstate 10, I'll spend the night along the way, probably in Fort Stockton. Never been there, but on the map it looks like an oasis.
I recently was driving from Los Angeles to Atlanta. El Paso is literally half between LA and Dallas. I was thinking of staying in Fort Stockton but instead drove all the way to Dallas and spent 2 days there to rest which was needed.

That looks like a long ride from El Paso TX to Ozona TX and I see IH-10 East and IH-35 North both blocked off for the border patrol inspection station
