My god you are the most talented Jack of all trades I have ever watched. You are worth every penny you charge someone to complete their restoration. I also watch Baumgartner fine art restorations and you are every bit as detailed as he is. Amazing.
You did that retouching like a pro. Then you handled that skew like an old hand to make the finial. Replacing missing bits, fixing dings and refinishing are just another day at work for you. I am just so impressed. There are lots of jacks of all trades, not many masters of all trades.
What a great video. I have just finished renovating a Victorian longcase which was a bit of a mess, but not anywhere near this level of expertise and skill. I am trying to get hold of a decent painted dial and would love to attempt a restoration like yours. A fantastic end result and a very inspiring video.
Beautifully edited short version of this AMAZING restoration. One adulation I've failed to express before - you are FEARLESS. I'd bet 95% of the shops out there wouldn't even attempt something so beyond challenging. Reminds me of what I learned from my Uncle Bill. He was showing us a picture frame that had tilted sides, which means complex angles for the corners. I asked him if he saw how to do it in a magazine or something. He just said, "Well, I just looked at it, and figured it out." Your dad must have taught you the same lesson. Please continue to share your awesome talents. 🤩
I am just in awe of your ability to bring off the restoration of that clock face. Incredible piece of artisanship. I salute you young lady. Thanks for taking us along on this journey. Best to you.
AH-MAZ-ING!!!!! As always, I’m blown away and astounded at your talent and skill level for SO many different things. 🙇♀️ The stuff you are willing to tackle would scare off many but you are fearless. ❤️❤️
You can justifiably be proud of how you have carried out this assignment, Trena. Of course I've looked at your previous posts and it's great to have a closer look at this version. Amazing how you can restore every detail of the clock and even improve it here and there. Greetings from Amsterdam, the Netherlands
You are an amazing restorer of amazing pieces of furniture. This clock now has many more years of standing proud. I hope the owner is overwhelmed with what you have done.
Greetings from the BIG SKY. I vaguely remember buying a big box of q-tips wondering if it wasn't a lifetime supply for a guy at 73. Then I got to see you remove old lacquer on this beautiful clock painting, my 'lifetime' supply vanished. Much less worry. Thanks.
OMG such a tedious restoration especially on the clock picture !!! I can't imagine the work hours you put into this project Trena. Your talent, notice and care on details, plus your knowledge is without saying !!! Don't know many restorers that would undertake such a project without involving 3rd parties into it... but nothing seems to scare you, as you trust so much your abilities which are endless. A beautiful restoration from such a skillful and beautiful lady... THANK YOU !!!
I've been binging on Clock & Watch Repair, Woodwork and Restoration videos for the last few months. This combined all 3 and left me speechless. I found the cleaning and re-painting of the dial absolutely astonishing, particularly since I grew up a few miles away from Muirkirk. I'll be watching the full version very soon.
My favorite mini-series.... Incredible transformation on the painting - amazing work. Love the music mix at the end of the series too! A nice addition. Keep up us posted on all of your work - this was was amazing.
I'd caught it in the earlier episode.. here at 3:16 glue up the wrong edge of front panel.. wiped before clamping. Considering the thoughts on a Cottage industry making the clock as a whole, named W Hodge made the mechanism/escapement, others everything else wise the other components.. Likely all those year ago a wee Scottish Lassie had the task painting the dial.. today another Lassie repaints the same.. This had to have been the most challenging commissions to date.. even turning your hand (no pun) to woodturning.. interesting how the lathe runs in reverse and you work off the back.. less by design, yet for the normal spindle threading a faceplate/chuck is likely to unscrew.. just wondering. Cheers.
My lathe was set up by someone who didn’t know what they are doing. It’s a giant piece of garbage. Lol. I need to get a new one or totally revamp this one
World class restoration. The short edit showed us just how bad some of the wood was that you have to replace in various ways. Nice choice of music too as we watched.
She understands patina. Awesome job! First time in a long time where I have seen minimum replacement and full restoration. Thats! The way it is supposed to be done.
Just amazing. You are so talented , patient. I can't find words. I hope your customer sends you a picture of it in his home & you share it with us. I've never had the need to paint a fart but now, if I ever want to I'll know just how to do it.
I like this condensed version of a large project. You manage with hand signs alone to convey what you're doing. You might consider doing this to all your projects. Sometimes a long video is discouraging to some people and lack of commentary makes it easier to run at Double speed for the power watching crowd. I was especially impressed by the painting. You showed how just a regular person can take a not necessarily valuable piece and conserve it themselves.
Richard, in no way could Trena be considered a regular person when it comes to her craft, a person without experience would soon make a mess of a project even close to the difficulty of this piece.
Did not mean to imply trainers work is not Museum quality restoration. I only meant she showed some techniques that someone with ability might use and there art restoration projects. This type of restoration is very expensive and some people with less expensive pieces might want to do it themselves. That's why a lot of people watch these kinds of videos. Don't assume somebody's out trolling.
Excellent work, young lady. Perhaps you discuss this in the full series, but why the gold leaf under the paint repairs on the clock face? Beautiful results.
Superb job whoever you learnt from was a Master My father and Grandfather were both French polishers my Mother was a very gifted lady all her family were time served decorators and I’m a plasterer of 40 years . I come from working class people who used their hands to make a living so watching you I can see your attention to detail And the many skills that have been passed down to you Great to watch long forgotten skills the people on the tv restoration shows aren’t at your level but I expect that your budget is a fair bit higher Thanks for showing this fabulous restoration I’ve just subscribed Harry
I've said before that your skills are astounding. I admire your dedication. I see these in all of your videos. Moreover, it was a pleasure to see that the range of your skills included the ability to restore the clock face to such beauty. I am in awe. The brief glimpses of your parents in this short version were also nice. It's sweet seeing you together.
What a fantastic restoration job on that clock face. it was awe inspiring! to say the least. a level of patience we all strive to acheive but fall short too many times. thanks for reminding us that it can be done. and for sharing. ECF.
What a spectacular restoration. You are very talented at working with wood and restoring the clock's original paint and color tones. Beautiful work you are a specialist in everything you did. Congratulations !!!
Young lady, every time I have a chance to watch you Not only am I impressed with your skills, but also your knowledge. This time (all through late) your doing exactly what I needed o learn. My wife just brought a clock (almost like the one you're working on now) and I could use some help with the rebuilding. Thank you for doing this one! I've always enjoyed your videos and I'm sure I will in the future.
Só tive oportunidade de ver o seu vídeo hoje depois e um ano que foi publicado. Me encantei com sua habilidade em todo o seu trabalho. A pintura ficou perfeita, PARABÉNS.
Question: what does the white stuff accomplish that you applied to painted part of the clock? I couldn’t tell. Is it a cleaner or filler? Edit: Disregard. I realized you have detailed videos on this whole restoration so I just finished watching part 3, where you mention the water based fill. I presume you use to level it out and give you a good base to apply the gold leaf. Great job!!!! Turns out so much better than I would have dreamed. ❤️
Wow! Just absolutely amazing and extremely talented work here. I am attempting to learn how to perform dial restoration. Can you provide any helpful articles or information on this process? I as of now I only feel comfortable cleaning the face with cotton swabs! Btw did you just use warm water to clean the dial face? Thanks for any information you can provide!
Hey. So this is a long story. The process is pretty clear In The video to use a compass on the dial. The products used to clean and redraw lines and seal depend on what your working on. You have to do a lot of test on what your clock face can withstand for cleaning. I would contact your local art restorer to get a start of products. Best wishes!
Nice edit! Always love to see what you're doing in the shop! I'm not a professional, but every now and then I find a piece that needs a little TLC and often referencing your videos saying, "how would Trena address this?" Love your work!!
Amazing work! I have a 1913 Hershedy clock with a moon phase dial where the outer portion had gotten scratched removing some of the paint. I don't believe it is as in tough a shape as this one you just restored. Would you have any interest in restoring this dial for me? If so I can send you pictures. Thank you and keep up the phenomenal work!
Sister Golden hair surprise, your papa must be extremely proud of you. You only have one life to live do what makes you happy for a living for your soul. Every once in a while a star falls from the heavens for the whole world to see, you are It.
TH-cam is not a large enough platform for your talent...One of the TV networks needs to build a show around you..
Yes!
My god you are the most talented Jack of all trades I have ever watched. You are worth every penny you charge someone to complete their restoration. I also watch Baumgartner fine art restorations and you are every bit as detailed as he is. Amazing.
Thankyou!
I was thinking exactly the same!
You did that retouching like a pro. Then you handled that skew like an old hand to make the finial. Replacing missing bits, fixing dings and refinishing are just another day at work for you. I am just so impressed. There are lots of jacks of all trades, not many masters of all trades.

THIS IS A WONDERFUL AD HIGHLIGHTING YOUR SKILLS, TALENT AND ABILITY, THEY DONT LOOK ANYTHING ALIKE, WHEN IT LEFT IT WAS LIKE NEW

After following Baumgartner for several years, I was a bit nervous for you! But you showed Me!!! Nice work!
Lol. Thanks!

Thankyou!
The only time this piece looked this good was when the maker delivered it to the original commissioners. You did amazing art work this time.
Thanks!
Trena you are not only beautiful but also good with clocks,
A work of love. Your talent is priceless. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience. Me having cancer enjoy it beyond all struggles😇🤗👌🇿🇦
I watched the detailed episodes on this clock. This version is a satisfying second option.
What a fabulous and gorgeous multi medium restoration. Great job!!!

You are an amazing restorer of amazing pieces of furniture. This clock now has many more years of standing proud. I hope the owner is overwhelmed with what you have done.
You started with what looked more like kindling than the beautiful work of art you ended with.
The consistently high quality of your work is both admirable and astonishing. Truly, well done!

Beautiful Trena. Very proud to watch you work. Great job girl!
talent
I love your workmanship and attention to detail. Most of all I envy your patience.
You are so talented and multifaceted. If I had only 10% of your talent,...
I continue to amazed at how much you do to preserve original pieces of wood. The cleaning of the clock face was remarkable. Museum quality!
Thanks Jean!
You deserve a promotion and a raise! Thank you,
I accept lol

A miracle. Awesomely beautiful!!!

It's been a while since I saw the full series of episodes of this clock restoration. Simply amazing. Thank you for the short edit.
nice overview. That being said, I like the long videos too...
Congratulations! You did an amazing job restoring history.
Excellent work, young lady. Perhaps you discuss this in the full series, but why the gold leaf under the paint repairs on the clock face? Beautiful results.
Check out episode 3 for explanation. Cheers

Such an Amazing job you did on this clock. You have some serious skills and patience.
Greetings from the BIG SKY of Montana. You really had to shorten this video to get it 1/2 hour long. The whole process you filmed was awesome.
Yes Thankyou!

Yes, but any local artist restorer can as well.
Nice job. Did you ever get to replace the 2 smaller hands on the clock face?
Yea all works were repaired and hands installed. Checkout the clock working on the last part of the series cheers
