I watched this in theater with my mom and an audience full of black women. It was the best experience. Everybody was screaming and laughing.

I saw this movie in theaters with my college friends, and for literally years after, "You CAME into my HOUSE," was an inside joke between all of us.
What was funny about Sharon is her instant suspicion about the new temp because she knew that’s how SHE got Derek… the sexy receptionist making a beeline for the corporate executive.

I think Patrick’s desperate for connection because he doesn’t fit in with the rest of the toxic, ultra-masculine hornballs in the office. And of course miss crazy manipulator took advantage of that weakness.

They might have been horny and masculine (not a crime) but the only toxic, catty, bitter queen there was Patrick - stirring up shit, poking his nose into other peoples business and displaying exactly why he's not liked in the office.

@@rnw2739 They were not merely “horny”. The entire office was filled with creeps who don’t think. The fact that no one pulled Idris’ character aside and asked what was really going on or told him to be careful doesn’t make any sense. Considering he’s married and she’s his intern and the whole office knows something, no one warning him or wanting to talk to him about anything just comes off silly and like bad writing.
However, let’s also not make excuses for Patrick or rather the movie’s writing of that character. They definitely leaned into the “pathetic, insecure, messy, desperate to be some chick’s sidekick qu-eer” trope quite extremely. No “gay” is gonna allow a chick that they barely know to talk to them like that no matter how insecure or desperate they are. And Patrick was a conventionally good-looking, well-spoken white guy. That type of stuff will certainly not fly with them. Once again, it’s just silly writing, but it does ultimately come off homophobic, whether that was their intention or not. It reminds me a lil’ bit of Beauty Shop, a seemingly harmless movie with constant undertones of male homophobia and that seems to be trying to say that male qu-eers have no purpose outside of being messy or being villains or being a woman’s sidekick/cheerleader. In the case of Obsessed, it’s just bad writing to make everyone that wasn’t Idris’ character one-note idiots who didn’t understand anything that was going on. Hell, Idris’ character is an idiotic.
Thankfully, it’s just a goofy, throwaway thriller.

I genuinely loved and still love this movie and I was so surprised when I heard how many people didn't like it and dragged it. It's not even just being a Beyonce stan because I watched this movie as a youngin before I even realized that was her in the movie.

This film was a secret favorite of mine just because that super gratifying fight at the end. I had never saw it done, two women having absolutely a knock down drag out. Only my parents didn't like me watching it because they thought it was too adult and hey, they were right, but this messy movie just did not leave my heart.
I saw _Obsessed_ in theaters and it was thrilling. Haven't seen it in a while though. I really enjoy your reactions, Alanda! Happy Galentine's Day!!
I'm glad someone else appreciates this one! I like it more than a lot of other boilerplate psychobitch thrillers that cashed in on the success of _Fatal Attraction,_ because I knew there'd be a deserved ass whoopin (and then she does it in heels!😄) _Misery_ and _Orphan_ are a couple of my favorite thrillers, highly recommended if you haven't seen one or both, or I bet they'd be fun videos if you feel like rewatching them.
I don't generally like romcoms or any other romancey stuff, I've been called the Valentine's Grinch more than once, but _While You Were Sleeping_ is an exception, and I think a lot of it is the great cast. But regardless, Happy _That_ Day and thanks for all these great videos! ❤

I grew up watching Lifetime movies, so I unironically love these type of thrillers lmaooo. You should react to Single White Female (1992), Fear (1996), or The Glass House (2001). They're messy and chaotic fun!

When it came to betting on your Valentine's Day special screening, I bought squares for _My Bloody Valentine_ and _Bride of Chucky_ but it's fun to see you change the programming up a bit, Alanda. Terrific video! I never bothered watching _Obsessed_ but pretending that the movie was called _Caught Up_ I absolutely enjoyed your play-by-play.
For romance, you might consider _Love Jones_ (1997) which has a terrific young cast and ambiance. _White Palace_ (1990) is hot and also devotes equal time to both the man and the woman in the story as opposed to _An Officer and a Gentleman_ (1982) which is all about the man (but does have a great '80s pop theme you'd love). _Walk the Line_ (2005) is also very good and musical but mostly about Johnny Cash, not Johnny & June Carter as much. These are all romances I think grown folk can enjoy, though when it comes to cute and silly, I don't know if anything beats _Splash_ (1984).
It would've been My Bloody Valentine but not knowing anything about it, I didn't want to risk it being too harsh for my mood 😂.

For more peak chaos, may I suggest War of the Roses(1989)? Chaotic rom-com/drama and possibly the most spiteful film ever made. Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny Devito chew up the scenery like nobody's business. Have a glass of wine handy and this is a good time.

This was a crazy ass movie man. After watching this again Beyonce actually did pretty good in this movie. I used to give her a lot of crap for this role but she embodied a lot of what women would do in her situation! 👏🏾 👏🏾
Sidenote: “Smash Into You” is top tier Beyonce that just doesn’t get any recognition. I love this song so much!

Stalker/obsession thrillers have always been my biggest guilty pleasures no matter how poorly they are received by critics and audiences. They just give me so much comfort and I'm always having such a good time even though you already know how they all play out. As long as I got a good cast and an awesome fight scene in the end,I'm all set 🤣

its literally so crazy that you posted this vid..!!! I was just thinking about this movie YESTERDAY!!! I used to watch this movie at like 3am when I stayed over at my friends house and I couldn't sleep and they had all the movie channels like Starz and showtime, so id watch this but it was always in Spanish so id just read the subtitles (I was in like 4th grade lmao) also that fight scene in the attic with the heels is ICONIC!!!

Valentine is a fun, 90's, scream-esque, horror movie that revolves around Valentines Day but doesn't do much for BHM.
Maybe something more recent, like Us or Get Out? Vampire in Brooklyn would be fun too!

I love Valentine. It's one of the best slasher movies. It's something about it that really intrigues me. It has this sexy and guilty pleasure vibe such as the concept, elements, tone, and theme as it was just constructed perfectly. It was such a unique and creative perspective in the slasher genre. The actresses did a great job portraying their roles. Also I love that twist ending and that song called Breed by Snake River Conspiracy that plays at the ending credits. It was just a really perfect way to end the movie. To this day I keep up a tradition of watching it every February and I consider it decent. Valentine is a true blue modern gem. Jamie Blanks directed a classic that will be in our hearts forever. It never gets old. 😍😎💯👍

This was really fun. I haven’t seen this movie in forever, maybe even since it came out, and I forgot how insane it is.
My partner and I do a “Love Gone Wrong” style double feature on the Sunday around valentines and this was one of the contenders for my pick. (I ended up going for J Lo’s The Boy Next Door) This movie is incredible. Your commentary tickled us in all the right ways.
