The chances for someone outside of Europe to get selected this year (after the borders are re-opened) is very low. Personality, I am retiring from this fantasy of joining the Legion until after this pandemic. It's unfortunate.

Here's a tip, get very fat, then lose weight - pull ups are a breeze at 154lbs, as is running. Think about it, at 200lbs you're carrying a 46lb weight on your back each day, every day. Assuming you stay reasonably active, you're exercising without even trying. I did it by cutting fat out of my diet, not recommended long term, but as a short term strategy pretty effective. I actually did it almost by accident, more for blood health than anything else. Running up those stairs two at a time was the first time I noticed an effect, then some guy remarked on how my trousers didn't fit anymore. I suppose the lesson here is get into some good habit, and don't think to much about the end result. Took me about 3 months. Eventually had to give it up - health problems accumulated. Losing any one food basic long term is probably not a good idea.

You can also join the NZ Army wtih no age limit. You do not have to be citizen you have to get Visa. New Zealand. Even a shot at NZSAS after a while.
