First, let me say this gentleman did an amazing job and I commend him for being patient and open to new textures and experiences. But, for types of videos like these where people go to a non-black person or salon to get their hair done what I'd like to see is, instead of letting the stylist wing it when we all know they don't have a clue how to deal with our hair why not give them some pointers. For instance, why not take the products and tools you know you will need for the style that the salon might not carry because they don't usually work with natural Afro-hair and show them how it needs to be done. I've watched countless of these videos in the hopes that someone would tell the stylist that you need to section the hair first and use a brush when blowdrying to make it easier to straighten. Instead, you sit there and watch them cause all that heat damage by making several passes with a flat iron hoping it'll become straighter when it won't cause you didn't prep it properly, to begin with. And lastly, a lot of those flat irons that they use don't get hot enough to effectively straighten hair so if possible bring your own or ensure they have one that can reach at least 390 degrees. In doing this hopefully, you can not only educate them on Afro-hair but more importantly you can keep the next black girl who goes there to get their hair done from going through what you did.

If you don't let a person know their mistakes then they will never have the opportunity to correct them.

Inversely, The 25 Year Old African American Woman (who had black girl magic in the NICU) has ridiculously high mortality rate, complications in pregnancy, more likely to DIE from those complications AS Well as have had a child, partner or family that have died from preventable causes? Infant mortality, violence, and also her partner incarcerated. I have a theory- If we could ask questions about one another, and do it without everyone coming to the table with their swords out, ready to do battle, we could make headway. I may be white, but I care a lot about black culture. For many reasons. But many White people don’t feel passionate about it. I feel passionate about all American History, but my favorite Boy Band was New Edition. I love hip-hop, AND country and rock and R&B. Why limit the world to what we’ve seen so far. I went once to a Salon in Italy and they laughed at my hair! The girl who Permed my hair wore a hazmat suit to protect herself 😂😂😂 my scalp was burning and she wouldn't wash my hair saying it was too kinky so I needed to keep the product for long otherwise it wouldn't work! I had always been natural and after that I went back natural and only went to have my hair braided by African ladies!
He did apply the conditioner but didn't leave it for long then washed it. He used the blow dryer first but the hair wasn't really dry then he went in with the flat iron.

It was one of the vaccinations I got when I was a new born. The area they vaccinated then had complications and the water then spread to the other parts of my skin. Creating what you see now.

Also conditioner. I did not see him condition the hair. Afro hair cant just be cleaned it has to conditioned as well.

Overall the hair result was great. He did forget to deep condition. I like the technique he used to by sectioning and flat iron as well.
