John Tams is an incredible singer, songwriter, producer and actor. However, John Tams is not acting when he sings and you hear his voice crack with emotion. Having seen him perform live he is so passionate about what he sings and why it is important not to forget it. He is a wonderful human being with an incredible talent that is even better live, never stop John.
I saw War Horse in theatres a few years ago. Was the most emotional theatre production I've ever been to. I cried like a baby through some scenes including this song. And of course cried like a baby while watching this video. If ya'll get a chance to see this show - definitely go. It's so worth it
Not sure how this came up on my you tube, but having worked on the original production of War Horse at the National Theatre it really brought tears to my eyes. A fantastic tribute to those who gave their lives over 100 years ago.
I had the privilege of being one of the Royal British Legion Standard Bearers on this occasion, and I’ll never forget how moving this was at the time. Well done to John Tams & the War Horse cadre.
I have loved the War Horse Soundtrack since I first saw the stage show Well over 10 years ago now. Being a huge folk fan, the songs had something about them, I am now watching Sharpe, and Tam's character is probably one of my favorites because of the singing. Now realising he wrote the music for both War Horse and Sharpe I am in awe of the mans talents.
Grandad signed up in April 1915 and joined the Army Service Corps Remount Service. In November that year he and the members of the 40th Remount Squadron were deployed to Salonica in Greece. He had spent his life working with horses; he survived the war to work with them again. I never met him.
@@jennybates I think I was playing on that album. I used to be in the Band of the Royal Green Jackets and we recorded a piece for that. Merry Xmas. :-)
My grandfather was in the 15th Kings Hussars in 1895 in India, as a sgt in ww1, then in the RFC as a balloonist , then with Lawrence in Egypt in 1922 as his driver. He killed himself in 1924, and is an unmarked grave in Loughton cemetery, close to a celebrated VC soldier. We do not remember the fallen. Please take a moment for Flight Sgt Albert Clarkson. 30years service age 15 to 46. Grave 463
You'd have thought they would have included purple poppies seeing as they represent the animals of war which is what war horse is all about . Still this is stunning.
Uncanny valley, it's very close to resembling an actual horse in movement and mannerism but at the same time you know it isnt an act horse hence any discomfort.
Good to see old Hagman's pipes are still a bright and shiny brass!
A moving tribute to those who served!
especially for those young lads who went off to fight in the great war and never came back to their home towns
all down to best brown paper and paraffin oil.
Fantastic John Tams, Thank you Sir, respect

The brilliant John Tams, he lives not far from me, Saw him perform this in Belper church in 2018
I get goosebumps hearing John singing. But I get a strong shiver when he's singing and the horses stand up on the hind legs
ニューヨークシティマラソン🏃出走した時、街頭で盛んにプロモートされてて

これぞ舞台芸術の精緻と感心しました。TH-camで今日観て感慨深いものがあります
Beautiful...thank you so much,
I first heard this in Sharpe's Justice.
Its beautiful.
Why did people dislike it this is amazing
The queen looks amazing as always🙂
14 dislikes out of around 100,000 views and that worries you? Jeez you're a hard man to please!!
Exceptional tune, thank you John Tams.

I remember 😢 thank you xxx
Beautiful - brings back fond memories of finale of The Ship (Glasgow 1990) also.
Lest we forget all those who served and the animals that served 🌹🌹🌹
Love this song and john tams

So so poignant.
Never must we forget the losses of both man & animal, that fought & served to preserve our very freedoms.
Jimmy young more like jimmy old
we must also remember the role that steam engines had in both world wars
And the animals had no choice. I cry whenever I re-read 'Fly Away Peter'
Tams also sang the Sharpe theme song, "O'er the Hills and Far Away" as well as the love theme from the series, "Love Farewell."
So moving. Love it
I love this song
So beautiful and moving.
brilliant song and singing
Is this the guy from Sharpe? His voice sounds familiar.
He is the actor who played Hagman, yes ;)
It is. Daniel Hagman was the character.
He sang "Over the Hills", the theme tune that was released commercially.
@@fitnessisgood4u they released an album of the music from Sharpe, too.

Stunning
The addition of Topthorne and Major Stewart was a nice touch.
Fantastic.!!!

Fijn dat te horen Zetweef. Hoop dat het goed met je gaat.
We ontmoeten elkaar nog wel.
John Tams was indeed Daniel Hagman, the ex poacher from the 'Sharpe' series.
I have his signature and met him.
You'd have thought they would have included purple poppies seeing as they represent the animals of war which is what war horse is all about . Still this is stunning.
Happy 100th birthday Poppy appeal ❤️💙💜
My favourite charity ever
only remembered for what we have done....
Paul
For what they’ve all done. They all deserved to be remembered by me
Paul
I miss them all
I want more video on War Hoses
beautiful
Only remembered.
We all, should live and leave fulfilled.
Awesome
"will the line hold? will it scatter and run?"
not if a soldier can fire four rounds a minute in any weather, Sir. ;D
I appreciated his singing in the Sharpe series.
I seen the show with bob fox singing it
Such a shame they didn’t wear a lilac poppy alongside the red one. They also served.
Amazing
mackenzie black
I watched this a day before remembering them. It gets hard for me every year
I love them so much because of corona
I’ve acc stroked top Thorne and joey at the Alhambra
Thatldo John. Thatldo
No subtitles . . . 😠
Pretty sure he sang a version of this in Sharpe.
he was onr of the main characters in Sharpe but mostly known for the song from that series called " over the hills and far away"
Boss
Topthorn and joey 😂
is it only me who do not notice the human legs and people who manipulate the horses?
I feel like Hagmans job after waterloo would be a pub singer. Thats if he didn't die.
Octo Horse
Why couldn't they just use a real horse?
lol takes 3 guys to man a horse when in reality it only takes 1 rider to control it. Garbage stage production when it was in Toronto.
Philstine
I've heard it was good, but there's something really horrible about that horse.
Lucia Tilyard
What?
I have a horse called Bella, I pretend she’s a WarHorse

My friends horses have got close to me in more than a year ago
