Coming to you live from PS22, here's yet another amazing accomplishment from a first rehearsal. Yes, I am VERY proud to say that the kids learned this song in one sitting, and it is one of my favorite things I've ever heard on them. I really planned on working on the bounty of new material we've bitten off, but during rehearsal I could tell the kids were fiending for still another new song. So I looked over my iPod and came up with this song by Bjork called "Joga" off the album Homogenic.
This is one of my 3 or 4 favorite Bjork songs and man oh man, the kids on this!! Just brilliant. I can't believe how polished this sounds after learning it only today. I'm so happy about this one.
I straight up cannot watch this without crying
Yep. I am sobbing.
I cried the whole three minutes and don’t even know why.
Even the Björk version sets me off, but this?! It’s another level of emotional.
Same.
@@martinkorbenit’s beautiful, that’s why 💜
this is why i always say we need to stop dumbing kids down and start treating and acknowledging them as fellow humans.
seeing these kids sing such a mature and mystical song and be able to portray it in such a beautiful way means that they are capable of emotionally comprehending what the song's nature is.
beautiful.
This song is about getting high on ketamine … state of emergency reference to emergent phenomena which is the medical clinical term for a K hole . Bjork writer this song after experiencing a ketamine high. Its way too mature of content for kids to be singing or even understand
@@baddidea4820what the hell are you talking about this song is about her friend and her homeland iceland
@@catdisconnected I’ve personally spoken with her about this on more then one occasion … what the “ hell “ are you talking about ??? I’ve know Bjork from nyc since 1994 !!! we’ve hung out countless times from limelight to Coney Island high / concrete jungle !!! In fact the entire “ homogenic “ is drug inspired as well as a lot of her music … but it goes way over your tiny pea head 🤣👎🏾
@@baddidea4820 bullshit
please one day do a reunion video where you bring all the kids back to the same place and sing this again ❤
I just love how some of them are so deep into the song. Like they are really feeling the soul of music. Bless those kids and bless that amazing teacher!
I know! Like their hands on their hearts omg 😭
oh snap......i almost cried
on instagram someone commented this mans name. mr brienberg
@@1325cmithI did! Multiple times…
Uhm, it looks more like they are imitating, what they see on the music videos.
It's astonishing to see some of these kids connect so passionately to such a mature song. I'm certain they're learning more than just how to sing.
I use to say Bjork can only be compared to Bjork, but actually, the closest you can get to Bjork is an entire chorus of wonderful kids studying music and a very inspired professor. Great video!
Eleven years later still holds up
now twelve
14 years 😭
+ a few more years
I just found this. I love Björk
Children, too, have exceedingly wide emotional landscapes. Just beautiful.
We need a 20 year reunion of this choir
I wonder where all these talented children are now? Wherever they may be, I hope they still have such a magical connection with music.
I cry every single time I come back to this. You can really see how moved they all are. It’s insane
To the choir director - I don't know if you still work with PS22, but if so, I hope they appreciate you. Your kids are special, and you sir, are magnificent.
THERE’S NOTHING MORE REAL THAN THIS.
Jesus, I remember my music teacher in elementary school making us sing songs from the 1950's about bald eagles being shot, yelling at us, having a mental breakdown...
Then this teacher in the vid is a legend
This goes to show how important and inspiring a teacher can be...every year it's a different group of kids but they always show the same enthusiasm and joy for singing. I'm most impressed by the fact that they completely understand what they're singing about and put their hearts, souls and imagination into it.
Love seeing brown kids exposed to Bjork. I was 12 when I discovered Bjork in the 90s. An urban skaterboard chick and loved rap rock metal and so many genres of music that none around me listened to at the time. Hope this gave them the same spark I had to seek out music I had never heard before. ❤
When I was younger I struggled a lot in school. I had to transfer to a different, very shitty school where fights and bullying were daily occurances. I had no friends but in my class there was a black girl who also had no friends. She was smartly dressed, I was more alternative. During classes or homework hours we used to listen to eachothers music whilst sharing earbuds. She introduced me to a whole new world of african (ethiopian, which she was) and rnb music and I introduced her to rock and 60’s/70’s music. Im still so grateful for her. She told me about the meanings of the songs and what they meant to her personally, it was such a wonderful human connection to make. I wonder how she’s doing now.
Same age I love her
björk's lyrics transcend borders imo. even for people who haven't grown up around avant garde music it almost always resonates
I was a brown kid listening to Bjork in the 90s . We were listening in the 90s... I'm glad that brown kids nowadays are listening too... Because there has been a massive drop off and musical diversity for kids of color tbh. Back then we had the Wu-Tang clan shouting out Bjork in music...Sinead O'Connor shouting out Public Enemy and 2 live Crew... Diverse music and people really connected while respecting each other's differences then. It wasn't a homogenized thing where one really takes over and pretends to represent all. Thanks capitalism
Everybody's channeling Björk in the purest sense. This lifted my soul. This performance is a blessing to The World. Thank you for this!
This is beauty itself. They made me cry.
Same
I think if I ever get the question "why does music mean so much to me?" again, I'll point them to this video. The song, that teacher and the wonderful children who are so invested in ways they might not understand but are completely honest.
It's been a little while since I've cried like this, but that is a prime example of what beauty is.
The world needs more music teachers like you. You teach these kids to have a passion for the beauty of music.
when i heard this song for the first time, i cried so hard. i haven't been able to feel that same powerful emotion from the first time i've heard it in so long. but this brought it back out. i could really connect with these kids. their expressions remind me of when i used to sing my heart out to songs alone and in choir. there is nothing better than music in my life. it's a universal language we can all understand and share
wish I got to sing songs like this when I was in my primary school choir :/
Right?
Wow !! 11 years later, i stumble upon this cover.
Simply amazing. Goosebumps all the way, watched it 5 times in a row, ended up with tears in my eyes.
Don't know if any of those kids will read this but if you do, s/o to You ! All of you ! what you've done, the emotion, the intention, wow... You made this great song yours, with respect and talent. BRAVO !
And s/o to you, the inspirationnal teacher, you're the one we all dream we had back in the day!
Huge Huge respect and loads of thanks from Paris, France !
Hope everyone of you is well and happy
LOVE
I always get emotional when I hear the original version, but now I constantly getting goosebumps while hearing this version... (speechless)
Did Bjork ever get to see this? beautiful
fossilmusictv do you have the link?
@@loolu3636 it's very far in her facebook
I'm all teary-eyed *.*
So beautiful.. the emotion each child puts into the song is so their own and so special... truly spectacular..
I'm a huge Bjork fan, and I can say that this video is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen/heard! Made me feel so happier! Thanks and congrats!
This is like my new favorite thing ever and I can't stop listening to it.
Joga is quite possibly my favorite song of all time these kids tooooootally do it justice.
LOVE.
Beautiful children, and an enthusiastic music teacher make beautiful music together. Big smile!
what a joy to watch these kids perform....
they're not only cute, but they actually DO sing with correct pitches and great harmonics.
every time you post a new video, i get excited because i know i'll get to hear these kids perform!
your arranging skills are fabulous as well. this is something these kids will cherish forever: a love and talent for great, wholesome music!
my hat goes off to you!
I hope so so much that all of these still love music and feel free to sing with so much clarity and passion today, and that this wonderful teacher is happy somewhere, sharing this joy and feeling the great gift of living such a purposeful life. I love all of you.
Thank you all for sharing this with us. I agree with many of the other comments, this is the best interpretation of a Björk song I have seen on TH-cam. You should all be very proud!
Now more than ever I come to this video for so much. As a teacher this video puts my heart and my soul in such a beautiful place. I always knew that children held the power to interpret the world in ways that truly reflected beauty, purity, light. But it I had no clue or idea that children could turn this song into something that is magical for me and beyond therapeutic, this video is hope, love, chaos, and unity in the most powerful 3 minute package.
That was just awesome. Love how passionate they sang.
This makes me want to cry. This is too pure.
Regardless of the language we speak, music is universal and trascendental. This song makes me want to travel to Iceland.
how touching... what focused, talented, expressive kids. amazing teacher. this is how you raise children, letting them move. not shutting their emotions, stagnating them. their youthful energy needs to be encouraged. just wonderful
This video makes me conveniently emotional 🥲
Brilliant teacher and exceptional children. I know this is 13 years old but it still moved me deeply.
You took me to a safe place, thank you so much! Those kids probably grow up so illuminated thanks to this expansion to new kinds of music. Teachers of today, please pay attention.
Gosh! Those beautiful babies were truly feeling that song. They did an outstanding job.
Absolute beauty. Glad to see so many young musicians who have so much future to offer ro music.
So beautiful, I hope all those kids are happy and healthy
Children are beyond precious. This video is a testament to how important music education is for children and teens
As a huge Bjork fan myself, I have to say that you kids did this song a great justice. Wonderful job! Why didn't I have a music teacher like this when I was young?
Just beautiful- when children are encouraged to just feel and be free with expression ❤️
2:05 the kid in the white hoodie 😭😭😭 feeling ittttt, so precious ❤️❤️
never ending chills. my favorite bjork cover
I just had this randomly recommended to me on my TH-cam homepage and now I’m crying
Well I just wiped a bunch of tears away.
Really very beautiful. Great job you guys.
I just can't see this video without drop a tear. Yes i noticed this vide has 8 years old, i play it since then and i feel the same thing that the first time. The best part of humanity is in this video.
AMAZING... TOUCHING...my day started in a diferent way...i love you...from Merlo, San Luis, Argentina...
This is the best Bjork cover I've ever seen! Thank you!
Crazy to think these kids are probably all now in their 20s! What a memory for them to look back on 👌
The teacher going off towards the song's ending cresendo is awesome.
One of the best videos ever posted to the YT
just cant believe that there are people out there that DONT "like" this...look at them kidz how much feelings they put into this!!!!

Damn this performance deserves a trillion views bro. ❤
that time of the year to cry over this amazing video
Absolutely beautiful 🙌🏾💜🎵🤎🎶💚🙏🏾
getting me misty, not sure why ;-/ . These kids are so expressive. My Ist time to hear this song, 2nd time to watch & hear ur kids' angelic voice on Y/T. You must love what you do. Thank you.
These kids should all be proud of themselves and thrilled with how wonderful a job they do. You are making people's day all over the place, across the continent at the very least.
Good job (to the teacher too)
Thanks for adding a lovely moment to my day.
Some of these kids are really feeling Bjork. wish i were exposed to such majesty as a child.
Amazing, this is my favourite Björk song! and I love the fact that these children beeing introduced to lyrics that needs more interpretation. It opens up spaces for more reflections, now thats what I call education! Keep up the fantastic work!
I wanna cry, this is so beautiful...
i feel emotional landscapes 💘🌟
I never expected to get chills from a children's choir but they did this song justice!
God, I've got lots and lots of goosebumps.
Such an amazing chorus of children, singing beautiful songs with such passion in their eyes.
Great, just outstanding.
This is so beautiful
cannot begin to describe how much I love this.
Best chorus I've seen in a long time.
This brought tears to my eyes. So moving and completely beautiful
best cover of this song imo
I'm not crying - I have something in my eyes...allergies...
Wow! That gave me chills. I wish I had music lessons that cool.
I love this so much ❤
Watching in October 2023 🙏🏾
This is beautiful and magnificent!! Pure love!!!
This song always makes me cry. But this time it was a different cry. Amazing. I hope Bjork sees this.
How have I missed this?😢❤😮😊
Just came across this and it's one of the most precious things I ever did see and hear. 🥲
I have always prided myself in being open to others who have different opinions than mine, even if I strongly disagree--but how can anyone not like this? Seriously???
Hauntingly beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes 🥲 what a beautiful group.
they are so pure, like a landscape
Amazing! I love this so much. Their sweet little emotional faces gave me goosebumps.
I love this song so much! It reminds me of my youth and seeing kids sing it with such passion just made me cry 😢 I love this 🥰
Literally brings tears to my eyes every time
I've wept twice in a row at how beautifully you all perform, thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
I love the emotion they put into singing this piece. the kids truly look like understand what they're singing about. I've seen adult choirs that are really boring to watch, but this children's chorus is really fun to watch because they convey the music through actions, facial expressions, and the colour of the sounds. My upper school choir has an acapella version that we're singing right now, and we'll later add the school orchestra.
Good job!!!!
Absolutely beautiful.
OK- someone posted this on facebook and I watched it and re-posted.
THEN I saw all the other songs by your class on the right hand column here on youtube and have been watching them all day, just weeping at the joy and feeling these kids have when singing...
Thank you.
No hay vez que no mire esto sin escurrir una lágrima de amor. Realmente vivo por esto.
Amazing kids, amazing teacher. All of you making the world a better place through your music. As an educator myself, my hat is truly off :-)
I can't believe I started crying. Awesome 😎
Wow...they've got the lyrics memorized after just one day? I'm impressed.
This gave me serious chills - absolutely amazing. I needed to hear this- it’s healing ❤️🩹 thank you
I wish we sang Björk when I was in school 🥺
omg this is beautiful
Its so nice! I hope Björk will find the clip.
It could give her inspiration for her new albums.
