That scene where Mikael admits he originally had no true reason for hating Klaus gets me every time. The acting in that scene was so perfect. I've always loved how Joseph can portray so much emotion and a mixture of emotions so powerfully and sometimes with nothing but a look.
Mikael was a sadist and hedonist way before he met Esther And Dahlia the cruelty of his parents made certain of that he constantly wiped out hundreds of Men, Women, And Children that were normal civilians and not criminals nor opposing war parties yeah.

Niklaus suffered from a paranoia disorder because of the mental and physical trauma Mikael brought upon him he was too scared to raise his daughter because he was afraid of scarring her as his father had done to him, he had killed his biological father (his deepest desire) in fear of betrayal since he’s never known a parent as benevolent force
Dude as much as I love Niklaus & his story I wanna know more about Mikael… it’s a shame this show came to an end….

@@hao9508 Legacies has its moments but it’s not something I’d rewatch… I love Hope Mikaelson as well as the two actresses that played her but that show…. Only episodes I loved were the ones that included The Original Family

Ugh, if only parents knew of the damage they can cause to their child(ren) that lasts a lifetime. For Klaus it was Father, for me that same quote goes for my mother. For Mikael, Klaus wasn't "that warrior" he wanted, for my mom I wasn't that son she craved so bad.

Mikael turned his children into vampires and then hunted them for 1000 years for being vampires. And I never understood why they ran, mikael vs 4-5 originals doesn't seem like much of a chance for mikael. I mean Klaus killed Mikael TWICE so I would think Klaus, Elijah, Rebecca and maybe even kol would of ended mikael quite quickly. Just goes to show the psychological damage mikael did to strike fear into the most powerful creatures on the planet.
That's what being brought up by these type of people will do to you unfortunately. Takes years to reverse it if it can be revesered at all

This Truly was a Legendendary Masterpiece that You (Neeklaus) and TVDU Editor Did. Niklaus and Mikael Truly have every right to hate each other. Mikael was an Abusive Moster to Niklaus as Child. Niklaus Killed Esther and Framed Mikael for The Murder. Both Joseph Morgan and Sebastian Roche were just Incredible Together They Truly Captured The Anger and Pain that Niklaus Mikael caused each other.
But like...whyy does he do this- does he decide "my child...Klaus, took my lover, his mother! away from me. and anyone who defends him will suffer as he does"
Mikael as a Human due to being a viking warrior and brought up early to be toughened up by his Parents and constantly beaten and given the tough love treatment later himself became a harsh warrior the killed, raped, pillaged, and so many other kinds of misdirectors so even before getting with Esther and or having his own family he was pretty monstrous to most who were not on his team of Vikings having and him and his crew are the very people who genocided Esthers camp or emcampment with little to no bad feelings about it not that having terrible feelings after would make it much better. Esther falling for Mikael even after what he and his pride did felt off Dahlia had every right to feel hatred for Mikael and company and later Esther for choosing to abondone her for one of the people who wiped out there stay ats yeah.

Children are like clay; they can be easily shaped into a specific type of person depending on how their parents raise or treat them. Mikael abused and hated Klaus since he was a small child. Klaus learned his cruelty from Mikael, who constantly beat him to death and cut people down in front of him. Sure, he is an adult now, with centuries behind him, but the emotional and psychological damage caused by abuse cannot be reversed overnight.

I think mikael was jealous klaus wasn't his son so he hated him and loved him so had no true reason for hating him as stated in the sad scene mikael admired klaus for being a warrior and strong but because he wasn't his son he couldn't show it .
After watching through the Originals I came to think one of the reasons Mikael treated Klaus the way he did is because he saw a lot of himself in Klaus and on some level I think Mikael hated himself for failing to protect Freya at the time(obviously he wasn't aware of the full details regarding the situation) and so he ended up projecting that hatred onto Klaus because Klaus's "weakness" to him was a constant reminder of his failure to protect his daughter. The thing is though, overtime when you develop certain habits or attitudes towards certain things you sometimes forget the reason why you even bagan feeling that way in the first place because you've done it so much it just becomes a part of you. Granted its been a while since I've watched the series so I may be forgetting some details.
I mean that is a good theory I like it, but my theory is I think in the back of his mind he had a funny feeling Klaus wasn't his son.

Wow This is an Absolutely Amazing Masterpiece for Mikael Mikaelson and Niklaus Mikaelson’s Relationship. Both You (Neeklaus) and TVDU Editor both did a Phenomenal Job with this video this was the first video I saw that really showed There full story. They Definitely had the most Complex Father and Son Relationship. Klaus and Mikael’s Rivalry Between Them was always My Time Favorite Rivalry in The Entire The Vampire Diaries Universe. I definitely understand why they hated each other. Mikael definitely had no excuse to treat Klaus like shit Beating and Verbally Abusing him now I don’t blame Klaus for Henrik’s death or for Killing Esther since she was trying to denying him to be a Hybrid and course Mikael killing Ansel (Niklaus Mikaelson’s Real Father). But Framing Mikael for Esther’s death was a really bad idea and then telling his family about it so they wouldn’t leave him. So yeah I definitely think that both did terrible things to each other. I really enjoyed having them team up was Incredible I do wish that they could’ve found a way to get over there feud with each other and found a way to get along with each other. Joseph Morgan (The Actor who played Niklaus Mikaelson) and Sebastian Roche (The Actor who played Mikael Mikaelson) both did an Amazing Job with their roles and their chemistry really made Klaus and Mikael’s screen time together Fantastic. Hey Neeklaus I have a small favor for you I wonder if you could create a video for Hope and Mikael I know that never had any screen time together but Mikael did try to kill Hope as a Baby and when after she was born and we both know Hope really got her cruelty from Mikael not Klaus. The father should be mad at his wife for keeping the secret nd making him believe klaus was his. His anger is misdirected at a child who had no option in whom he was birthed by.
He was messed up but Esther’s betrayal which in a way he pushed her towards (still no excuse for cheating) doing, he preferred and convinced himself that killing Klaus would erase his humiliation and pain. However he could of had character development, he focused his hatred on an innocent child instead of himself and his unfaithful wife. Only when he was killed by Klaus in front of freya he was finally honest with himself.

Ok I know Mikael said he had no true reason to hate Klaus but my theory is that since Klaus was Esther's favorite, and his own favorite was presumed dead (Freya), he felt jealous and lashed out the grief of losing his firstborn on him.
he actually hated him for not being his son. and apparently Michael does have a concept of a divorce.

No... no the "I hate you just because I do" is some of the biggest crap I've seen in recent times in the series.
Give me something... don't tell me she hates him just because, what is that?
The way she talked about Klaus, the way she looked at him, the idea of him in her head always expressed to me that Klaus was doing something unconsciously that made him angry.
I always wanted Klaus to be the living embodiment of his dead sister (Freya) in physique, in personality. It would have been brutal if they had even told me that she still loved to paint.
That the reason Michael hates Klaus, is because in his twisted mind he saw a child trying to replace his firstborn. That later his hatred grew even more when he found out that he was not his biological son. That the bastard of his family was so much like the girl he loved so much, it stirred everything inside him and now he just wanted to kill him and have him die like his innocent little girl died.
Give me something deeper to produce something so.... that I say "Wow now I understand why it seemed like Klaus was doing something against Michael" and that was that he was replacing Freya in him.
Then many, many of Michael's dialogues would have more weight in the story than a "I hate you just because I choose to".
But was he wrong though......Mikael's purpose was the elimination of vampires,,,who survive by feeding on the blood of humans.....and the quickest way to achieve his goal was to kill his children.....so why was he the bad guy?
Mikael was the reason they became vampires. He forced the mother do a dark spell will the doppleganger blood. He is a bad person for hating them for his own doing
