Dude, I forgot how BRIGHT Chrome flats sound!! I had a set of those before, and everybody was amazed that they were flats when they heard them being played.
Bobby is a great player , I love his appreciation for the vintage fender instruments. Pre or post CBS transition ,Bobby knows how many amazing records were cut with fender precision and jazz bass guitars. Down to earth guy and just a treat to listen when he is laying down a groove.
what I love about bobby is how he gets the most sound out of his bass and articulates it,hes a genius! I have an 80 jazz and it seems like on those years they had weak sounding pick ups.or I should say ive owned 2 of them and pick ups were real mellow.
I just don't understand it!? With that tone and style, he should have really been the go to man for producers, during the 70's and 80's..... I can only imagine that Lee Oskar is glad that he, used Bobby on sessions.
EVERYBODY,WELL MOST BASS PLAYERS,ALWAYS TALKIN ABOUT YOU GOT TO PLAY WITH YOUR FINGERS,AND NOT WITH A PICK...BOBBY VEGA,PLAYS BETTER WITH A PICK,THEN MOST BASS PLAYERS,PLAY WITH THEIR FINGERS!!!
@efe berkay köroğlu Yeah, I know what you mean. Don't knock your Cort PJ though. They are very nice basses. If you're looking to get a similar tone to what you described, you'll need to reduce the action to get a little bit of that funk buzz when playing harder and bring up your pickups towards the strings. From there it's rally about shaping your EQ - this bass is about high mids, so boost those and you might be able mimic the Fender sound. Also, notice how close to the bridge he plays, with a pick. That all adds to the tone you're hearing.
I could listen to Bobby play all day long!

I tried GHS, La Bella, Fender, Thomastik…
Chromes are the best

Bass sounds heavenly and that playing is ear candy.

Bobby, you can REALLY catch a groove. LOVE you videos, man.
Man, best intro i've ever seen
He's such a big kid. Massive smile on my face watching him caress notes out of that, flip and groove and back again.
Man- that was some excellent playing. Loved the different techniques and the on the fly pickup volume changes!

Incredible bass player, a very cool J-bass and a very funny guy.

Grande master 🙏
You know, when Bobby starts that rock'n motion with his body, you know the licks are about to happen
You could give Bobby a stick and two strings and he’d get music out of it. He’s a national treasure.
Bobby of Petaluma !
nice
Bobby Vega, badazz...
an absolute master
Nice playing and nice bass. I love the jazz bass more than P bass. They are great for a funk fest!
