To be honest, the 33rd has to be the only enemy I’ve ever felt bad for killing in a military shooter. The voice acting and voice lines are truly what solidifies my reasoning. The pure desperation, fear, and panic in their tone distills a humanized and sentient nature, and doesn’t make them feel like mindless cannon fodder clones you casually mow down in the hundreds, who’s entire existence revolves around destroying you and everything you care in games such as Call of Duty and whatnot. What’s funny is that one of the most haunting scenes in the game was the innocent conversation between the two 33rd soldiers in the skyscraper. Just the one soldier talking about how he liked to go out and just listen to the wind, and the other talking about his childhood memories and that they had to look for peace, no matter where, made killing them a pain rather than a pleasure. Not only do you kill two human beings with interests, desires, and cares like you do, but it serves as a grim reminder of what you were killing before that, and what you will be doing after that point. There’s honestly nothing more punishing and unforgiving in a war game, than humanizing those you are killing.
@@loweni7460 Bad Company 2 and BF3 bothe have great voice lines. It's like they recorded actual marines lol Those are up there, but I'd still say Spec Ops just barely takes the cake. The desperation just really comes through here

@@YossarianAssyrianAnd then you realize, all those insurgents you killed in CoD, all those “generic russian soldiers” were probably people aswell in their own universe
Been looking for this forever. The way they speak to each other real adds to the ambience. Delta is truly a force to be reckoned with and the enemy's constant panic perfectly solidifies Delta as a threat. I've always wanted to do a video on how atmosphere is impacted by and impacts the theme of Spec Ops. Can I use this vid and any other you upload about Spec Ops' sound effects/VO? I'll give a link and shoutout to your channel in pinned comment and description
I just love how their battle chatter does not sound so professional or calm, but desperate and hostile. It matches with their current state in the city. Example: "Watch my back, Assholes!!" "Move, you dumb motherfucker!!" The majority of them was all screaming until i can hear their voice cracked.
Bro, everyone saying there is no other voice lines just like the Damned 33rd, let me introduce to you Insurgency Sandstorm, Your characters cry when they get hit, they get pissed when they get shot at or lose an objective and they cheer on when they win a battle or kill an enemy, the game humanizes your soldier or rebel, they don't feel like cannon fodder, they either feel like a strong determined enemy or an enemy who doesn't even know what they're doing, seriously man, try it, you won't regret it.
I love the battle chatter but more generally the quotes from the 33rd infantry. Unlike so many enemy factions in video games that are just a target that can shoot back. The 33rd really feel like actual humans. And their AI may lack realistic tactics, but what they lack in tactic they have in character. They genuinely feel exhausted after six months cut from the outside world and on the verge of breaking appart when under heavy fire or sounded. They can't stay 'professionnal' when hell breaks lose. The way they shout orders, sometimes swear at each one another. React to grenades, gunshots, sand, other stuff. (The quotes for the sticky bomb is haunting). But when they aren't fighting, they talk about themselves or their work, there is the two scouts on chapter 4 talking about their homes. But I also liked on Chapter 6 the mechanic talking to his buddy about salvaging the Stryker's armor to reinforce Humvees if he can't repair the vehicle. And even though I love the English Dub, I managed (for once) to prefer my native language, French. The french cast for the 33rd is very solid. And I can say at first it was very surprising for me to hear french voice actors that I heard in so many other games. The two voices that I recognized instantly were the french voices of Nikolai and Takeo from cod zombies. (Which are one of their biggest performance ever). And while I was surprised about that, unlike their lighthearted roles in cod zombies, the voice they gave to the regular 33rd infantry is just... so grounded and poignant. The french cast is just amazing, they do the very same thing, they shout their orders, swear at each other, panic when hell breaks loose, and in such a way that even tough the 33rd are americans, these voices could convince me I am fighting real people. Long story shortened : the two voice casts did amazing with what they did. And the french cast managed to do so well that I think they are above the og cast for once.
Where's the voice line from an enemy at the start of chapter 13 where a guy shouts something on the lines of "DONT LET THAT FUCKER REVIVE ADAMS"? It's one of my fav lines in the game from enemies.
@@YossarianAssyrian Yeah, the line is "Don't let that fucker let Adam's back on his feet", it seems it happen 50/50 of the time, so my assumption of it being a chapter special line is wrong
@@AAMFSS No, you're right. It is a chapter special line. It would've been in the generic battle dialogue in this video otherwise. If I compile any more 33rd voice lines together (there are a TON of them), I'll look out for that one.
From chapter 7, if you take Adams’s advice and save the civilians. The 2 soldiers you quietly kill are talking about drawing straws over who has to kill those civilians.
Thank you so much for uploading this. If it is possible, please upload the voice clips for all the characters you possibly can, but if it isn’t, can you at least upload the ones for Conrad?
I might upload some more, but I don't think I will be able to get all of Konrad's. His files are divided up among levels and would be tricky to uncover.
@@YossarianAssyrian yeah, I remember you saying that they were especially hard to upload, but you seem to be pretty good at dividing them, for example, Lugo and hallucination Lugo. I’m not sure why they divide them up like that, but I guess they never really thought of people looking them up online, so they didn’t consider making it easy haha.
@@MrDalewin They're broken up by level, and their audio files usually have generic names (stuff like walker.ogg or soldier.ogg). When I extract them, I usually give them a slight rename to add context to what they're saying (so it'd be walker_museum.ogg or soldier_spotted.ogg).
What problems are you having with ripping the files? Also, I know this strategy is more tedious, but you could always record the video with Audacity and divide up voice lines as needed.

This game, Dark Sector, Call of Juarez the Gunslinger, and Manhunt have some of the best enemy chatter ever voiced.
Me too brother.. Me to...
It also helps that the soldiers have a wide range of voices. Ranging from the typical gruff officers, to the fresh outta high school recuits
I can't think of another shooter where the enemies sound this visceral and realistic. Makes the atmosphere so brutal.
