Da Hong Quan is simply one style under the frame work of Shaolin Kung Fu. So basically its just Shaolin Kung Fu which is the style by itself. Shaolin Kung Fu is taught all over the world including Africa and middle east. One of the oldest and even mother to Jiujitus, Judo, Karate, MMA, and many other martial arts.
Many Shaolin forms are divided in roads (road 1, road 2, road 3) the second and the third roads are addressed to more advanced disciples. Because of the fact, that those forms are too long, it is recommended to focus on one road and reach the most possible perfection before proceeding to the next. Apart from that the Shaolin convent is divided to four courtyards ( North Shaolin, South Shaolin, East Shaolin and West Shaolin). Each one of them has it 's own variation of a given form. So you may find forms with the same name but with striking differences between them.
I guess that more advanced must be the value of the application of those techniques. For example the third road of pao quan is reserved to the monks of higher rank . The same goes for the roads 2 and 3 of Zhao Yang Quan. They are in a way "classified".
I think that roads may refer to versions. For instance in competition, I generally have several versions of my form. If I feel good, I can perhaps perform the most difficult version, however, If I am injured, I may perform the more reserved version of the form. In addition, after many years of combat and adapting and learning new concepts, it is very good to preserve the original version, and simply create newer alternate version for other purposes.
